  1. The story is listed in every Louisville news outlet so it's legit: http://www.courier-journal.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2008801160773 I won't complain about any sort of new attraction, especially given how pathetic the water park was for so long, but I'd really like to see them do a little something with the amusement park. How about new trains and a paint job for T2? Or it's removal? I would take the removal of T2 the same as I would an announcement of a new coaster.
  2. ^Yeah, those are all returners. It's kind of crazy to look at that. A lot of the people that are now TLs of rides are friends that I made in our first season together back in '05.
  3. "Jungle Love"- Steve Miller Band
  4. Yeah, they really aren't putting any effort into renaming these things. I mean sure, they are just names, but how do they come up with Flight Deck and not realize how lame of a name that is. I'm sure there are tons of more creative, exciting names they could pull out of their ass than Flight Deck.
  5. This ride looks pretty freakin' sweet, yet family friendly at the same time. (hint hint hint Will Koch )
  6. SFKK -Camouflage all barbed wire fencing, it really makes the place look trashy. -Repaint T2 and replace the trains with the new design. That or ax it Flashback style. -Come up with a few more food options. The selection is fairly bland. -Take out Top Eliminator (which I think they might be doing anyway) -Take out Twisted Twins or majorly overhaul the entire area. They never have both sides running and they take up a massive amount of land that is poorly maintained. The poorly landscaped ground really reminds you that you're in Kentucky. -Replace the Twisted Twins/Top Eliminator area with something good. SFStL -Repaint Mr. Freeze -Retrack Boss and get something other than G-trains. IOA -Rehab Hulk. It's getting pretty bumpy. -Come up with a Starlight ticket. Holiday World -Build a major drainage/sprinkler system along the paths in the waterpark. The paving they having is brutal on the feet in the summer sun. -Bring back some of the charm they once had. It's beginning to feel more and more like a corporate park. IB -Five words: World's largest Fascination game hall SFGAm -Ax Iron Wolf. It's washed up. What once was a great coaster is now a ride that I refuse to go on and haven't since '05 when I was with somebody who needed the credit. SFOG -Fill the GASM lagoon with Kerosene and throw a match in it. Invite all of Northern GA to watch the massive fire ball. Then build something worthwhile in it's spot, like a compact Intamin woodie. A fire related theme would be humorous. KI -Tear down SOB. It was a cool idea gone wrong to the point that it's unfixable. -Completely overhaul the Beast, Steel Phantom style. Make it a ride worth an hour wait again. Beech Bend -Be open when your calendar says you are going to be. Six Flags in general -I like BeemerBoy's idea. $15 for parking, plus an oil change and car wash seems about right. -Quit putting in so many food chains that can be found five minutes down the road. I'm honestly more inclined to pay ridiculous prices for mediocre park food than I am for food that's identical to that of the same restaurant down the street for 1/3 of the price. Cedar Fair -Keep coming up with those great names for rides at the former Paramount parks. Don't just stop with the movies! Keep going. How about "Significant Fall to the Ground" for Drop Zones, "UFO sighting" for the Flight of Fears, "Lave Flow" for Volcano, Screw Coaster for any Arrow looper or "Super Swirl" for any coaster named Vortex, "Jive Dancing" for Face/Off, and "Bird Flight" for Top Gun (KI). Better yet, name every coaster or thrill ride after random times of the day, weather conditions, animals, etc. and throw "hawk" on the end. Maybe even consider renaming the Beast to Beasthawk. I think it works. Disney -Raise the prices a little more. $72 is a freakin' bargain.
  7. Wow, you aren't kidding. You really did write it. That's awesome. I'm just glad they finally put it out in theatres across the nation. Very few movies make me want to pay the ridiculous price to see them in the theatre, but Juno is one of those lucky movies and the fact that it wasn't even playing in my state until a few days ago but was being advertised like crazy was slightly frustrating and annoying. But yeah, that changed, so I'm looking forward to seeing it Sunday.

  9. ^I'm pretty much dying to see what the rage is with In-N-Out. I need to figure out a way to get out west (not specifically for that though). I'm officially moving to Alabama in two weeks.
  10. I must say, maybe it's the angle of the camera or possibly a little distortion in the picture, but this thing looks a lot bigger than I imagined it would be.
  11. "Sweet Home Alabama ("Dirty South" Version)" by B.A.M.A.
  12. Drifting should never, in any way, be affiliated with or mentioned in the same sentence as 'racing'.
  13. Are you kidding me? Superman Ultimate Flight @ SFoG is the smoothest coaster ever. Its like butter! Anyone else agree B&M over Vekoma Flyers? So smoothness automatically means a ride is better, no matter what? Outside of the pretzel loops, I find the SUF clones fairly boring. The pretzel loop is crazy intense, and then it pretty much turns into a family ride after that. I much prefer the constant transitions and unusual elements of the Vekomas. I don't care for the B&M flyer trains either. They are uncomfortable, bulky, and the minute they start to rattle in the least, I feel like my nuts are getting put in a paint shaker. The lap bars and vests of the Vekomas are far better in my opinion.
  14. Is anybody else getting a little tired and annoyed of seeing these 'Disney incident' stories? They aren't really news pieces. They just try to make it news because it's at Disney. Does that strategy never get played out? I know it's become boring to me. I guess in a way it's become entertaining, since every time a new article comes out, I get to try and derive the real story from the published story.
  15. ^Yeah, but my point is, look at the parks that ARE getting something this year or last year, particularly the THBS additions like SFStL, SFDK, SFFT, and SFOT. SFOT's last coaster was 2001. SFStL was 2000, as was SFFT. SFDK had a used coaster in '03 that closed after '04, so before that, it was 2001. And even if it the last coaster for SFA was in '01, $50 for a season pass is still ridiculously good, especially given the ride collection despite none of the coasters being really new.
  16. How does Grossman suck so bad? Sorry Matt, but this Chicago hatred of Rex just drives me nuts. Yeah, he bombed this season until he got benched, but he did pretty darn well after he got his starting job back. Plus, I can't tell you how many of his perfectly good passes were been dropped. How many times have you seen a perfect pass to a receiver, who gets his hands on the ball, but drops it? I know I saw a ton. Heck, before he sprained his knee ligament, even the commentators were talking about how some of his dropped passes can't be thrown any better. It's just as much the receivers' faults, if not more, as it is his. Lastly, he still lead our team to the Superbowl, which takes a significant amount of skill. I'm sorry, but even if he had been playing his best, they still would have been darn lucky to win that game. Indianapolis was just too good. Again, sorry to be taking this out on you, Matt. It's more of a rant against fellow Chicago fans in general. Not everybody can have a Peyton Manning or Tom Brady, and I don't understand the logic of fans constantly booing their own player. That's not going to make him turn into an MVP.
  17. Get off their butts and fairly distribute? First off, when the old management was on their spending spree, I'm pretty sure it was SFA that recieved FIVE major coasters (six coasters total). Second, this is only the second year that the new management has had the ability to decide what and where to install rides. What exactly is so unfair about who's getting rides? The only ones you could possibly argue are SFNE, SFGAm, and SFGAdv, but neither park has received a new coaster under new management, and SFGAm has had a coaster removed with SFGAdv technically having two removed. As for the others, I don't even see how they can be argued as unfair. It just amazes me how you make $50 for a season pass to a park that has such high caliber rides and a major water park seem so ridiculous. Since '98, SFA has recieved a GCI woodie, a Vekoma Flyer (was a big deal back then), a Premier LIM bowl, a Vekoma Invertigo (was a big deal back then), a kiddie coaster, and an Intamin hypercoaster. Compared to many other parks, SFA has hardly been neglected. Just give the "new" management time. I'm sure you'll be taken care of sooner than later. Besides, where else can you find ANY park that offers a season pass for $50?
  18. Yeah... I still don't see that happening. Anybody else remember how Stealth was supposed to do that when it was built at Great America? Never happened. I'll believe that when I see it (thought I'm not doubting the validity of your source). I don't doubt that, but unfortunately, I still haven't been successful in making the SoCal pilgramage.
  19. I'm actually really excited about this. I think it's a wicked cool design, and I've always preferred the Vekoma Flying Dutchman over the B&M flyers. I'd love to see this design come to the U.S. soon.
  20. Tyler, there's two of you... Awesome TR though, dude! That was pretty funny. However, there is something seriously wrong with all of you for even contemplating mixing egg nog and Red Bull. Yes, egg nog is awesome, and Red Bull is awesome, but that doesn't mean they should be put together!
  21. According to RCDB, a park in China is building a Vekoma Sting Ray, their new flyer design. I saw some images of it at IAAPA, and it was the only thing that caught my eye at Vekoma's booth and made me say "wow, that looks awesome." It's nice to see one getting built. Hopefully one will come to the states before long.
  22. Ohio State lost a third national championship game in a row! First, football in January. Second, basketball in March. And today, soccer! I love it!
  23. I honestly think people are over-analyzing the consecutive trims. I mean, think about it, trims are a lot easier to install during construction than they are after the ride has been built. I think they are a "just in case" type thing. They probably installed two in a row, not to trim the ride twice in a row, but so that they can have more control over the ride. For instance, if they only installed a trim on the third hill but they were having problems on the fourth hill, they'd have to excessively slow down the train on the third in order to adjust the fourth. So given the new train style, I really think that's what the consecutive trims are for. I'm sure B&M has no problem designing a ride that doesn't need trims, but when push comes to shove, the intensity of the ride is the park's discretion.

  25. ^Yeah, I got my pass from SFStL this past year for $45, because I "outside of their marketing region." That definitely made my day. I wish I could take advantage of this awesome deal, but I'm still not sure where I'm going to be living this spring, or which park I'll be going to first, so I'm going to have to pass.
