I'm sure it's been said multiple times, but I just find it odd that they are naming and theming some serious rides after children's shows. I mean, it's good that they have the rights to such well known and popular shows, but I can't imagine a great deal of the kids that watch Sponge Bob are going to be terribly eager to get on the Sponge Bob coaster once the see it. Again, sorry if that's a broken record. Either way, I'm really looking forward to it all. I hope to get back up there one day soon to check out the changes.

Post your milestone coasters
Scaparri replied to bgwfreak's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
So take trips to places you don't have credits! I'm sure the people will come either way! Then again, my budget and schedule isn't going to allow me to do any of the major trips anytime soon, so I could careless. I've always enjoyed the TR's of your own trips. Like when you guys did your first two Japan trips, or that massive Europe TR in '05. That Europe TR gave me something to look forward to at the end of the day during my summer of indentured slavery at CP! Not much had ever been seen from a lot of those parks, let alone in TPR fashion! Anyway, I've gone off on a tangent. -

I know this is a little delayed, but I just checked out the Fuji-Q pictures and am stunned at how janky the place really is. Considering how all out they go on their coasters, you'd expect them to pump a little money into making the place look a little nicer. Shoot, some of those pictures make them place look like a glorified state fair in some ways! Really disappointing. Theming at Disney has me blown away though. -
Well, other than SFKK and WDW, I have to put a vote in for SFGAm. You get a lot of diversity from Chicago along with a ton of teeny boppers. The latter of which provides some solid entertainment if you can withstand the stupidity and overall annoying nature.

#1- Beastie (or whatever the hell it's called now) #100- Don't remember. Probably fairly lame or insignificant #200- Flying Unicorn As you can see, I don't put a lot of effort into making my milestone coasters special. I just like hitting the milestone. But that's cool if you like doing that. A lot of my friends do. -
^Yeah, it does, but you'll have that when one company screws up a park and decides to shut it down, as well as when another company gets their head out of their ass and finally starts to make good decisions. I'm a bit surprised by this, but not quite ready to assume they are taking out the entire ride. We'll see what happens in the few weeks.

What has it done for me? Robbed me of a ton of money. But seriously, yeah, it's given me a hobby, a lot of good friends, and amazing memories. And it's helped me through a lot of rough and dark times by giving me something to look forward to and work for.

Because OSU has arguably the most obnoxious and annoying fans I have ever encountered. I would like to hear an OSU fan talk about how another team might be better than them. I don't think it's ever happened. And the fans constantly feel the need to inform everybody that they can spell Ohio. There isn't even a song to it. They just do that over and over... and over... and over. A large part of it is their fault. They make their schedule. Sure, a good part of it they can't help because they don't determine how good the other teams in their conference are, but when LSU was playing Virginia Tech, OSU was playing Akron. Please? I have no problem with 2 loss teams in the title game when they played powerhouse or ranked teams back-to-back-to-back. Whether OSU's schedule is their fault or not, they still had an easier schedule. It'll all be settled after the 2-loss LSU Tigers smear OSU, just like Florida did last year. (Friendly trash talk )

It's a ride that I thought looked awesome and insane when they first introduced the concept, but after I saw R&E's video of it from Gardaland, I was fairly unimpressed. It just looks too controlled and slow paced for me. I just can't imagine being upside down for that long at a time feeling very comfortable either.

Coaster goals for 2008?
Scaparri replied to jappi's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Uhh, have we been on the same Goliath at SFOG? Not exactly something I'd call tame, definitely wouldn't say it doesn't take your stomach, and DEFINITELY wouldn't call it a great starter coaster. The mine train is a great starter coaster. To each his own, though. -

-Hit the 230 credit mark (I'm at 200) -El Toro, Fahrenheit, Steel Hawg, Evel Knievel, and Mystery Mine -Get to either the south Texas parks, SoCal, and/or back to eastern Pennsylvania and NJ (see first two rides listed). -
Please. Yes, rides and parks need to be inspected and have safety regulations, but come on. Just because your daughter had an unfortunate accident doesn't mean safety is an illusion. Seriously, how many injuries are there a year on rides that are not the rider's fault? Not all that many. I don't understand how people who worry this much about rides survive day-to-day life. How do they eat? You never know when you might ingest some wicked bacteria? Do they cake themselves in sunscreen during the summer? Do they drive? Do they stay inside all winter long to avoid threatening sicknesses? Maybe I'm going a little over the top. People just annoy me I guess.

Ole' South USA

Sounds great. That area could really use a solid theme park. And I'd love it because it'd be another major park within decently close proximity. However, I'll believe it when I see groundwork and advertisement signs on the construction site. -
Six Flags Magic Mountain Announces "X2"

Read the thread, dude. There's people getting worked up because "the 5th dimension doesn't even exist!" To you, it may sound lame, but you know what I'm saying. The point of calling it the 5th dimension is a marketing scheme trying to make it sound cooler (and different). They are just working with what they have. -
^Nice article, and I fully agree. The only reason why I said that I wonder if it should be an OSU vs. OU match up and not say, an OU vs. LSU match up is because in the real world, there was never a question whether OSU will get a bid. It really sucks how the system works. I mean really, with the current system we have, shouldn't Hawaii be going to the title game (not saying I think they deserve to be there, but the current system is screwy)? A buddy of mine that's a huge OSU fan reworked the rankings using a modified version of the Ohio high school football rankings system. If I remember correctly, the system takes the scores of each game, the difficulty in schedule, and how the opponents from each game continue to play later on in their schedule (I'm probably forgetting something else, but it sounded like a good system), and when OSU was ranked #1 and undefeated, this system had them listed as 4th. I have to echo Lee Corso and say that huge powerhouse teams such as OSU, LSU, Florida, etc. have no business playing cupcakes like Southeastern Rocky Mountain State A&T Tech. Sure, I understand one, maybe two to boost the athletic budget, but three or four of them? That's ridiculous.
-
Eh, I'm fairly content with OSU vs. LSU, though I can't help but feel like it should maybe be an OSU vs. OU match-up. Yeah, OU had bad losses to Texas Tech and Colorado, but they BLEW OUT the #1 team in the nation. Maybe the #1 ranking wasn't warranted, but still. That's what everybody voted for as #1, so shouldn't OU get the bid since they beat the living hell out of them? Oh well. I'm looking forward to seeing OSU get embarrassed once again by an SEC team. Bring on the playoff format. As you said BeemerBoy, top 8 go. Sure, #9 and #10 will bitch and moan, but seriously, there comes a cut-off point where you have to understand it's just not going to happen for you even if you make the cut. Kind of like how the 66th team always whines about not getting a bid to the Dance. Get over it! You're just going to get your butt handed to you in the first round! There's nothing I'd love to see more than USC get upset by Illinois in the Rose Bowl. Well, I take that back. I'd love to see OSU shut out in the title game (ok, now I'm really dreaming).

Six Flags Magic Mountain Announces "X2"

I find it funny how so many people are annoyed about the whole 4D/5D scheme. It's marketing. It's not like Millennium Force is 1,000,000,000 ft tall or long (giga) or TTD really goes into the stratosphere. It's just a marketing tool to make the ride sound cool. Not everything is meant to be taken literally. -
^Great contribution to the thread. What exactly is wrong with it? What does it hurt?

That's an awesome idea. I've always wanted to do one of these and I've heard and seen so many great things about Royal Caribbean. The price is pretty darn good for what you get too! Plus, I can't imagine how crazy it'd be cruising with you guys and other TPR members. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to hold out on a until I graduate. School ruins everything!
-
^I have to echo that. As you go backwards through the top hat, you are hanging 150ft in the air by nothing more than a lap bar. It's one of my favorite moments of any coaster.

I'm really tempted to sort of stand up to my physics lecture prof tomorrow. The class has been ridiculous. Aside from having a total of 4 profs for one class, the tests have been out of hand. For example, I had the material leading up to the first test down pat. I breezed through the challenging homework problems and breezed through all of the test prep problems. But then the test featured problems we had never even been given before. As in, there weren't any problems in the test prep/hw that remotely resembled these. The class average for that test was 49%!!! 49 freaking percent!! Thankfully they gave us an extra credit page to do to try and get some points back, though they had the tenacity to blame the poor scores on us! The second test wasn't so bad, but the third that we just got back during the last class period was just like the first. Class average? 53%. They haven't said anything about extra credit or a curve. What professor (or department for that matter) is content with a class average of 53% on their tests? Half the problem lies in the fact that the lectures cover the elementary basics when this is a college course. The amount of material they teach would barely suffice in a high school physics class. I just want to politely ask in class what they are going to do about the last test (e.c., curve, etc.) and if he says nothing, then just asking why they are content with having failing class averages on their tests. Seriously, this class (and university) is a joke and embarrassment to collegiate education.

^What!? How is that possible, Robb? Like everybody you know from here that's on facebook is in that group.
