You're the new CEO of Six Flags

Eh, I don't know about that part. Going by personal feelings (not trying to represent the public as a whole 'cause I'm probably wrong), I can't stand when parks bring in name-brand restaurants. First off, it takes away originality. A lot of the little stands or restaurants that I used to actually fork out ridiculous sums of money for because I liked the food are being removed in favor of fast food chains I can get down the street. It takes away from the park's uniqueness and experience to me. And anymore, I just leave the park for half an hour and go to the fast food chain across the highway 'cause there's no sense in paying twice as much for the same food inside the park. Second, I DO blame the park. Am I right? Probably not, but I'm also ignorant. If I go to a park that is filled with McDonald's, Panda Express, and Papa John's, I'm definitely going to blame the park if the food is lousy because the park is the one that lured them in there, and it's still the park's responsibility to make sure they have a good product. And I'm going to blame the park when these fast food chains cost twice as much as they do in the real world, because it's the park that is the root of the price jacking. Again, I may not be correct, but that's my ignorant mentality. I'd rather pay $10 for fresh cut chili cheese fries and a stale churro than I would $10 for a quarter pounder meal. At least the fries and the churro are something you don't easily find in every town across the nation. But yeah, that's me, and I'm sure your way would probably be more profitable and that's all anybody cares about anymore. -
Wow, I'm really glad I didn't waste my money on going to the Daytona 500 now.

Eh, it's interesting I guess. Far from the weirdest music video I've ever seen. "Closer" by Nine Inch Nails makes this video look like a lame Nickelodeon cartoon.

The Rumor / Crazy Idea Superthread
Scaparri replied to Wes's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That's probably not even possible. The g-forces would be totally different between the bottom and top train. To make it bearable it'd need to be a real tame layout. It is possible! I did it in RCT years ago and the peeps loved it...so I know it would work. I hope you're making a joke. Like Paul pointed out, the forces would be completely different. Just look at most inverts and notice how tight the inside of the loops are. The normal train would still have the same drop height, but have to negotiate a MUCH tighter loop. Again, quoting Paul, it'd have to be a really tame layout. -
Holy crap! That's awesome dude! Congrats!

I don't know, call me crazy, but I would almost bet that this has something to do with going down the falls, similar to how many people have gone over in a barrel. I don't think it'd be barrel-sized, but I won't be surprised if they've come up with some compartment for sending people over the edge. Or am I just thinking out of my pooper?

^Exactly, you made part of my point. The layout is Goliath, and I was just showing that it's not really like Behemoth except that they are both out-n-back style coasters with hills and a helix. But the order and layout is completely different. -

^^Not quite. The top of Mantis' track is red, and Behemoth is orange. On that note though, it's spot on with Talon (sorry, I was beat to it): from RCDB I knew it was a hyper coaster when they announced it, but the layout seemed very similar to Goliath at SFoG Outside of the fact that they both have hills and a helix, they aren't really anything a like to me. from RCDB Just my thoughts though. -

What's the point of a reserve price on ebay? Why doesn't the seller just start the bidding at the minimum price they want to receive? Just seems kind of stupid and annoying to me.

I love how people whine about their local park not getting a coaster, and when they finally get a major one, they still manage to find something to whine about. People just piss me off I guess...

"1 Crazy Coaster" Trip
Scaparri replied to TheRapidsNerd's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Southern Adventures was easily the most awkward park experience of my life. I'm still just blown away by the obvious concern in the manager's voice. It was still an awesome weekend though! Never realized a Gravitron could be that nuts. Lesson of the weekend? Don't fill up on Chik-Fil-A right before riding spin 'n' pukes. -

Star Flyer for Martin's Fantasy Island
Scaparri replied to larrygator's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Take a look at this picture, and notice how small those chains look in Joe's hands. Yeah... THAT is holding you. Then factoring that the swings move up and down a 200 ft (or however tall) tower while spinning a pretty good rate. You'll crap a hammer. Seriously! As awesome as the Big Shot is, take it out and put a Star Flyer on top of the Strat! I soiled myself enough on the flyer in Orlando. I'd probably have to convince myself to do one on top of the Strat. For me, that'd probably be the scariest ride ever. Glad to see another one is getting built in the U.S. -
^Well, as awesome as Foghat is, they aren't Southern Rock so I doubt we'd be hearing them. I'd be really surprised if there isn't some Lynard Skynard or Allman Brothers on there. Maybe the Marshall Tucker Band or .38 Special? Or Nugent? Personally, I'd like to see some U2 played on Maximum RPM if there are some songs that would fit well on it.

Holy crap, my favorite band broke up yesterday. I'm going to go crawl into a hole now...

Are you sure about that? Does this one person that checks the seats work the 'controls' at the base of the tower, or walk into the actual control booth and work controls? Most, if not all, Intamin second gen towers have a control at the bottom in which one of the workers checking the restraints has to push. Then, there's a worker in an actual booth that has overall control of the ride, but has to wait until both he and the restraint checker have pushed the button in unison before the ride can be dispatched. Every Intamin tower (post first gen) and coaster I've seen requires at least two people to run, unless the ride is switched into manual mode. And no park would allow a ride op to run a ride in manual mode while people are on it, let alone on a regular basis.
