  1. It's 4am(yes I'm nerdy for reading at 4am... ) and this just made me literally laugh out loud! Awesome!
  2. ^ I just saw the lineup... you'd have to pay me to go to that festival... Bleh! The more and more I think about this the more it seems like I want to do this. Anyone going looking for someone to meet up with? Unless this is way out of my price range I would love to go, but I don't think its "in the cards" cause being on my own at a theme park is not my idea of a good time in most cases, but this sounds too good to pass up if anyone wants to hang out! ^^^ That's sort of hard to judge as it's a VERY personal thing. www.youtube.com/user/ThemeParkAdventure#p/u/27/pWFpvhou4Pc Heres a "maze flow through" from Theme Park Adventure... if this seems scary stay away but if it looks like fun you'll love it. ^^ Personally I get many more scares at HHN but I think Scary Farm is pretty awesome as well... less scary and detailed, but it's more "fun" in a way.
  3. Based on price I'm potentially down for this... anyone wanna meet up though? I don't really wanna go alone and my friends won't be willing to do Knott's and HHN because of the costs... but we'll see cause I didn't do Haunt last year... so I'll have like 5 new things out of 12... so that sounds cool!
  4. D23 TICKET JUST BOUGHT! WOOT! Just going to the theme park day but totally excited... anyone else gonna be there?
  5. AWESOME! Fast, smooth, and forceful as F###!
  6. And the Darwin Award goes to...
  7. ^ That reminds me... some parents(this sounds weird to type) care so much about their kids that they ruin things for EVERYONE. All right... this happened a while ago but if memory serves we were about to get on the elevator on haunted mansion @ DL. There was a kid near me and some friends that was 3 or 4 and he was flipping out because he was scared... actually I take back my first statement... the mom didn't care enough about her kid or she would have gotten out of line. Anyway, she told him everything would be okay and said something like "this will make it less scary" and gave him something... but I wasn;t really paying attention cause I assumed it was candy or something... just to calm him down. It was a ####### flashlight which he proceeded to shine throughout the elevator as well as on certain parts of the ride. I am sure everyone has figured this out... but things are lit in a certain way for a reason... so the flashlight took away some of the ambiance.
  8. For me it really depends on the park. At pretty much every Disney park I have ever been to I will take advantage of shows or especially street entertainment like the bands on main street and New Orleans square or something like the Dapper Dans. Even now and then I will just sit there and just take in the atmosphere from a bench or something like that. Of course, the good part about Disneyland is if I am feeling like I want a rest I will take a few circuits on the train... which is more my style of relaxation because I am still on a ride, but I can relax and look around. However there are certain times... mainly special events... where I don't chill AT ALL. During ERT I will never ever stop for a break... it's limited time only and I want to get as many rides in as possible... and to do this I must haul ASS because it's an awesome privilege. Also if I am at a Haunt event I really do try to do every house I possibly can. I am actually sort of a haunt snob as I have a very specific rule... no riding til we experience everything that's haunted... unless the haunted attraction is a "altered" ride. At these events especially although I am in a rush I notice a lot of details like characters and scenery which add to the ambiance of a haunted area. In addition I try to take in all additional details in a que or in the house itself because a guy jumping out will always startle me... but the ambiance and atmosphere is really what makes a good haunted attraction.
  9. YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS RULES SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. Lets see... Disneyland has some awesome food including the best clam chowder, best fruit desert thing(dole whip), and one of the best mocha's I have ever had. Even Knott's has some DAMN GOOD Fried Chicken and delicious pie. I mean, I'm not expecting award winning food, but when you consider what you pay it is absolute crap. The only day I can ever justify eating at the park is WCB because the food is free and it is pretty tasty for theme park food... and even that(no offense to the parks) was BLOWN OUT OF THE WATER by the awesome chicken and fresh pie at the Knott's day of bash. Also the food @ SFMM is a bit below fast food quality... but it sure as hell aint fast!
  11. The Thing: Assimilation will be in the Wild Wild Wild West Arena. The maze WILL be cold and they will be using all of the HVAC units for it. The facade will be the snowy front of the outpost (all from Murdy's Twitter) A bit more stuff. Sounds cool!
  12. http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118040099 Cool! Both parks are getting The Thing! Excited for this as it actually requires quite a few effects and things like that! I'm 1 for 1 so far... lets see if what else I said is true!
  13. Happy Birthday to me Got a Disneyland AP I'll see you at the parks Happy Birthday to me! The Best birthday/birthday song ever Ghost
  14. Final at noon in statistics. I'm not that worried even though I suck at math, because somehow I pulled a B on the first exam and as of now I have a 92% in the class. It still makes me a bit nervous though because I have a terrible history of needing to retake math classes, so I'm studying right now. The good news is that if I pass(and I need to do pretty bad not to pass the class) then this will be my last ever college math class.
  15. ^^ You pretty much hit it right on the head in you're post... we have licensed properties here because it's HHN Hollywood, and because it's famous for movies. There are quite a few other reasons though... For example until VERY recently we've had something like 4 mazes... including House of Horrors... but this year we will get 6 mazes, and as of now we're all pretty impressed the event has managed to grow so much considering the size of the park. Also HHN originally ran from 1997-2000 before having a 6 year hiatus and returning in 2006... the reason behind that is likely due to the success of Knott's but HHNH has=(as of now) always surprised me in terms of quality over Knott's and has created quite a fanbase over time... so another hiatus is very unlikely. Personally I fully expect to see some original mazes in the coming seasons, because John Murdy keeps saying he has great ideas... the issue for HHN is at the moment they need to try to compete with Knotts... because Scary Farm is arguably the "main" California haunt and has been for nearly 40 years. People recognize the famous horror characters such as Freddy, Jason, and Leatherface and they also recognize big name horror icon's... such as Rob Zombie. Lastly we(as of now) don't have a HUGE mythology like the Florida parks. Our icons our generally movie characters... so we don't have people like the caretaker and Jack the Clown, although for a year or 2 they used the director and Jack the Clown down here... but it was weird because no one knew who they were. I'd say give us a few more years to "get our foot in the door" because as of now the event is getting pretty successful and has pretty much doubled in size since it's opening, which was only 5 years ago. I predict that in the next few seasons they will begin to work on an original maze or 2, we even almost got one this season that was based on a previous scarezone, but it did not fall through. In the long run I expect to see less movie mazes and more original mazes as people begin to realize the high level of quality and scares that HHN mazes are able to achieve. Sorry for such a long response, but I'm a horror nerd!
  16. Cool... seeing it tomorrow! ^
  17. ^ I know nothing major... but there were a few awesome sounding non major things that happened last year... like a Q&A with TSMM engineers and stuff. I'm currently looking at Friday though as I couldn't care less about the Disney channel... I like Phineas and Ferb and that's it. Kinda excited though... I've never been to a non coaster event... and although I don't know everything about the company I AM A HUGE FAN and it should be tons of fun. I do agree though... the Disney channel day will be awkward...
  18. Confession time... The Matterhorn! For some reason as a kid that damn Yeti used to scare the hell out of me because it was so loud. I want to say my mom took me on when I was about 4 due to the really low height requirement and I FLIPPED OUT! I didn't ride again until 6th grade. It's sort of funny because now it may be my favorite coaster at DLR but it used to TERRIFY me, and even that's sorta funny because I could do Thunder, Space, and even Screamin without any problem. The only other coaster was Superman at SFMM where I chickened out... but I was pretty young and I was kinda scared of it because it was pretty new... it was like first or second grade, but I went on it the following summer... so yay me.
  19. I don't know if this is plausible or not as I have never been to the park, so excuse me if this is stupid... but it seems like a year or so ago I heard a rumor of a GCI coaster on MF Island. I looked at it on google maps and it does not seem that large... but at the same time I seem to remember a haunted attraction there, and in pictures I saw of that it looked relatively sizable... especially considering GCI's have relatively small footprints when compared to the average B&M. Is this a possibility?
  20. Congrats man... what an awesome inspirational story! Also... although I know it's kinda a cliche... Welcome to the TPR "family"... it's awesome here!
  21. I hope this thread will fly since it has not happened yet or anything... but as you all know in 2009 at D23 things like Carsland and ST2 were officially announced. After that I cannot miss it this year, but can only attend one day of the event... it is actually pretty well priced at 40$ so a day should be no problem. d23.disney.go.com/expo/ Heres the official site... my goal is to for now just generate buzz here as it would be awesome to meet up with some people @ D23, but also the current plan is to update this as much as possible as new events are announced. If anyone has any info on when announcements are and things like that please please let me know because as of now I have no idea which ticket to buy as last year there was a full itinerary every day. I'm aiming for Friday right now cause thats the theme park and Disney legends day, but by the same token that could all change depending on seminars and or screenings on other days. So whose going and does anyone have any advice/wanna meet up? This should be an awesome few day for the Disney community at large! The Ghost
  22. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Arguably my favorite caption in any TR EVER! OMG I know usually when you say LOL you don't actually laugh... but I just laughed so damn hard! Crazy!
  23. ^ Can't help you much there... but I can tell you that it was called either The Haunted World of Rob Zombie or Rob Zombies American Nightmare... the latter which featured characters of a short story Rob wrote which became House of 1000 corpses. 2 things... 1 rumor 1 fact So the MAJOR rumor on the street is that we are getting a Hostel maze. It has already been confirmed that Eli Roth is hosting the film competition and that he has always wanted to do HHN and last year John Murdy said he would like to work with Roth at some point. We got clues this year which were 3 Dog Night and Broken Neck. 3 Dog Night does a song called Eli's Coming, there is also a neck breaking scene in Hostel, or so I'm told as I haven't seen the movie in years... but Eli Roth has brought up Hostel recently on twitter and things like that... it seems VERY likely. There is also a rumor no scream as Uni couldn't get the rights for a maze supposedly... but we'll see. The good news/fact According to twitter Murdy has said that July will be HHN month pretty much and that PRs will start to come out sometime this month. This year should be awesome as it's taken him this long whereas last year we had basic info like Clownz... so it seems like he's trying to be as secretive as possible... horror fans BE EXCITED! The your HHN Hollywood rumor/newsguy Ghost
  24. That thing looks a lot like Sierra Sidewinder!
