  1. Good luck to them for sure. Who knows what will happen, but I just like the idea of this property getting the same treatment that Holiday World does. It was strange seeing it idle when I drove by last summer. I remember reading a trip report in the last few years of KK's operation that said Thunder Run was maintained fairly well since it was apparently the president/manager/someone else's favorite ride there...and it shouldn't be that hard to get the Twins running again (poor CCI's are dropping like flies though). T2 will probably not be removed, as it is a "thrilling" coaster, let's just hope it gets a new coat of paint over the black and red rust. If I were them, I'd rename and rebrand all the rides, which, while it might cost a bit more, would refresh the park. They probably will anyway since Terror to the Second Power doesn't exactly scream bluegrass. What about Midnight Train, Shackles and Chains or Devil's Dream?
  2. Wow. That helix. It does dwarf poor Dragon Khan though.
  3. Oh that new theming is just badass.
  4. I bet someone can answer this: Are weight distribution/speed the only things making Green Lantern so tame? And I'll second the above comments, what is the point of the Zac Spin if it is not spinning? Otherwise, it just looks like a nauseating, jerky flat ride... Watching TPR ride the one in Sweden is hilarious; that does look insane.
  5. Reading these WCB updates always makes me jealous. I live on the East Coast and have been to Knott's but never Six Flags Magic Mountain, which is obviously a must-visit for me in the future. If WCB was anything like East Coast Bash at King's Dominion last year, I'm sure it was an excellent time. I bet a lot of the park enthusiasm is based exclusively on what the management thinks of groups like us. I know KD's John Pagel was out all day and did an excellent job with the presentation, tours, etc. during East Coast Bash. He was incredibly personable and I admired his enthusiasm, especially since he had tolerated a lot of (ridiculous/idiotic/unnecessary) s**t over Intimidator's trims/restraints/OMG why didn't you paint it green from "enthusiasts" during the early months of that season. I would think a more corporate-minded manager might not be as enthused about mingling with the crowd. I'd also consider Knott's a more "homey" park; Magic Mountain just seems so massive that it must be harder to get things organized for an intimate event. But I'd kill for some X2/Tatsu/Goliath ERT. I didn't see much mentioned, but was anything interesting said about Lex Luther? How long will construction be, etc.? I know the preview video has the cars dropping alongside the Superman trains flying up the tower, which could be quite a joust. I guess the operation of each ride does not affect the other at all?
  6. I know they didn't ask me, but I wish they'd paint it closer to the Magic Mountain Goliath than just repainting it like Deja Vu. The standard boomerang's colors look great in all the construction pictures though. Can't wait to check out the new Premier trains, too.
  7. Beautiful trains; tiny seatbelts...
  8. Inverted, hands down. I think this is B&M's greatest achievement, and, when looked at as a whole, their most consistently great design.
  9. Yeah, I've been to the site, and just looking at the picture they appear to be fairly standard. Can't fault the clamshell though.
  10. That thing is gorgeous. Thanks for the pictures. I'll really have to get to Canada sometime soon to ride that. I still can't get over how thick the spine is on that drop track. I wonder if they'll be using the standard 4-across trains like on Nitro or if they'll spruce them up a little with any new features?
  11. Well that was a surprise. I too, thought it was Mauer at first and was thinking, "Well at least it's not a standard Sky Loop." Since it's Premier it should be doubly awesome! That first ascent looks like it defies the laws of lateral-g physics though! And I doubt valleying in the loop will be a problem, unless the train were to enter going backwards. This is seriously the craziest thing I've seen in some time. Excellent job Six Flags with all the 2012 stuff! [*On a side note, I think it's funny how such a cash-strapped company can make decent animations and others (ahem Hershey) do not.]
  12. Dear God, perfect 10. That looks ridiculously scary and great.
  13. The comments on KD's are always good for a laugh! Hurler is apparently several people's "joint." While Dominator "suxxx." And Intimidator 305 is "the ish."
  14. Maybe I overstated how much yellow was coming through, but, yeah, it's mostly on the loop and corkscrew, which were repainted over quickly. Also, the final turn looks kind of bad.
  15. I can't believe how much the paint is already fading on Green Lantern, you can see the yellow from Chang coming through all over the ride. Hopefully Six Flags bought the warranty on their paint!
  16. I bet that evacuation was annoying for the park. Also, why can't people just ride coasters instead of doing other stuff like filming, holding pennies, etc.? Watching this video also reminded me how upset people get when a ride malfunctions. On my Volcano roll-back, people were literally crying and screaming at the mechanics opening the restraints.
  17. Nice pictures. Is there something wrong with one of Apocalypse's trains that it hasn't run this season?
  18. Nice pictures! With all that clarity I couldn't help but notice what looked like some larger riders on Millennium Force. I wonder if they loosened up the belts this season?
  19. Thanks for the pictures and reports. Carowinds shares a spot as my home park, along with Kings Dominion. I definitely agree that Afterburn is a great ride. Intimidator is also a perfect fit in the park; I just wish they'd keep those trims off! Great job capturing Nighthawk, which went from being one of the ugliest rides in existence as Borg to a gorgeous centerpiece for the park. That damn line is frustrating though because you hardly ever move. It seems like they completely retracked Hurler's drop, too. Thunder Road ran great on Halloween weekends last season so I imagine it's even better now. It's nice to see the park giving their older rides TLC and paint. I actually like the Carolina Cyclone paint job. I'm hoping to go to SFOG again soon too, maybe with TPR in September. Last time I went it was the weekend before SUF opened. It was dead, though, so I got tons of rides on Deja Vu, Scorcher, Batman, Cyclone, GASM, etc. I really liked Ninja myself, and it's got a nice location. Slow corkscrews over the water are always cool. Glad to hear DDD is good. How long was the line for that with the small cars?
  20. F--- that was thorough! Great pictures! How did I miss that Cheetah Hunt had five trains? I assume it runs four at a time with the standard Busch spare in the maintenance bay? Thanks for all the different views, that is one beautiful ride; especially in the old Rhino Rally section. They did an incredible job on the station too, as the old Skyride station was never that attractive. How were dispatches? On a side note, Kumba looks great! Whatever pressure washing magic they did actually worked.
  21. Spot on with the HRP correlation, though this looks nicer and actually has water rides. I'm surprised at the design of Shock's transfer track. I would have put some sort of covering over it. It's also strange that they'd have to cycle to get back to the station (I'm assuming this since it looks like a small drop after the station).
  22. I actually like the yellow loop but it appears the paint is already flaking. I also noticed some yellow showing through on the corkscrews. Hopefully they'll take care of that soon.
  23. Awesome. Nice to see iSpeed in there, too. That list is pretty close to my own.
  24. It is indeed testing like mad right now. I was surprised and only wish the quality was better. There's at least four or five cars.
