pkdcoaster replied to jALIg's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
You really should have higher nmbers than that. Last weekend on Italian Job (PKD) during a breakdown there were 17 staff members scratching their heads JEFF -

Actually, Rebel Yell almost always races, at least when I am there. -
Well, I went back to PKD on Sunday with the family hoping my son (Aidan) would be tall enough for Taxi Jam this year and he was He is very strange when it comes to rides, some he cries and whines on but I think it is because he is alone but once the ride gets going he is usually fine. His first ride was with me and he loved it except for the part where the ride stops Afterwards he screamed "my coo coo's" (He calls roller coasters coo coo's) so he rode 2 more times but the line and dealing with him afterwards was a pain. Also they have the first (I think) onride video system almost ready to go on this coaster. Honestly it looks like a big rip off...the cameras look like web cams (but I could be wrong) and $20 ($15 for a copy) for a 2 minute DVD....crazy JEFF Dad, when do we get to ride the coaster again? Slides are always a good thing I want to ride the coaster, not this wussy ride!!!!! Weeeee!!! "Lets GO!" his 2nd ride with Grandma (My MIL)/ Here you can see what the camera mounts look like "is it our turn yet?!?!?" waiting for his 2nd ride

hmmmm. interesting but i think having hydralics of that nature would be very expensive and a pain in the ass to maintain so the idea was probably scraped before the final design of the trains. Short answer = NO JEFF -

YES surprisingly All sound effects worked during the entire ride, we had lights and music and fire and water........ I was really impressed with Everything about the ride and it seemed to be a big hit....except for the kids that thought they were going to get to drive (kids were fighting and bickering in line for who gets to drive) JEFF -

They were running all 3 trains and very well too, I was not expecting the line to move as well as it did. PKD does not do fast pass or anything anymore they experimented with it for a year or two 2001-2002 didnt really work and no nothing in VA has a single rider line (anymore) here are more pics from the day JEFF not sad and pathetic today ahhhhh must be a sale on new Intamin wheels -
Wow!! best family coaster ever G's in the helix were very impressive and the backseat is crazy. Park was great, a very light mem. day Sat. line for IJ was never more than 40min and max trains on everything. but blah blah here are the pics (what you came here for) Enjoy, JEFF

What a great day! left house at 5:15am got to Hersheypark at 10:30 (extra 1hr-15min due to sucky traffic in DC and Baltimore) Park was VERY light with a few schools there. I have not been since 2002 and this is my first park out of the state of Viginia since 2003! met my buddy and we were off to Storm Runner but it was closed. It was weird entering the park and NOTHING was running except the rides in midway america (I assume they do this to get people back there in the morning now) So we were walking back to the Wood and I noticed that the water was not on Roller Soaker and it was running so I said what the hell. (boy am I stupid) Well we walked right on and little did I know that they still filled up the cars with water, so we hit that first block brake (Slam, Skloosh) and I get Soaked! After that I dumped my load and continued on (luckily no rash). Next Wildcat (2 trains/walk-on all day/8 rides on the day) Still my favorite Woodie, man this thing just keeps getting better! (except the bottom of the 1st drop could use a little TLC) Airtime is even more powerful and it just never lets up. Thanks to the bunny hill in the hairpin turn my pelvis is now mulch Wild Mouse (5-10 car wait all day/1 ride) disapointing that this mouse is now tamed, what a shame it used to be the best Lightning racer (1 train each side/4 cycle wait/2 rides) I don't get how wildcat gets faster and this gets slower (so it feels to me) It felt like we were pulling an anchor around the track on our 1st ride 2nd car, rode later in the day in the back and it was better but still not as fun as 2002. still fun though. Storm Runner opened up 11:30 (2 trains/20 min wait in morning and afternoon and walkon from 4-6/ 10 rides) WOW what a ride!! I was not expecting it to be this good. the ops were great and I was very surprised how efficient the dual station was. Easily deserves a space up there with the best in the country. The 1st hill and the rollover element was just too cool and there is NO shortage of airtime on this monster. Another Intamin Winner and the restraints were actually not bad at all (although they do not seem necessary on KK) Great Bear- same ol same ol (2 trains/15min wait at its longest/ 1 ride) I still think the best part of this coaster is the helix but there is just way too much straight/flat track SooperDooperLooper (2 trains/walkon/1 ride) A classic mine train with a loop the beginning is just funny to me, going down this gradual 30 degree drop, slowly building up speed then BOOM, your Ass is Very Intimate with the seat (good G's) Comet (2 trains/1-2 train wait/1 ride) such potential....... I really wanted to ride the Claw but it was down all day The Weather was perfect and The ops were great and this is easily one of the best Parks in the country. so in 7.5 hours I got 24 coaster rides plus monorail and skyride, took 169 pictures and shot 30 min of video. not bad drive home was much better (no traffic). Sorry if it is confusing....my battery is a little low here are some of the pics from today 1st Storm Runner Enjoy, JEFF Get Ready....... mmm..fresh Intamin Wheels

has anybody heard yet if Mamba, Steel Force, Steel Eel and West Coaster continued to operate through Sunday or did they close down after this? I would think that Mamba and Steel Force probably will not operate this weekend. JEFF -
Cedar Fair buys PARAMOUNT PARKS!
pkdcoaster replied to Canobie Fan's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I know for a fact that Carowinds and PKD will let you stay on the coaster and even change seats to an empty seat as long as nobody is occuping that seat. Every CF park makes you walk all the way around no matter what JEFF -

pkdcoaster replied to Canobie Fan's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I could give 2 turds what drink product they have...I do not go to a park to drink soda besides water is free. I personally think that PKD and PKI will receive Hypers within the next 5 years cause they are easily the 2 biggest parks that have the space and no ordinance hassle that do not have hypers already. I believe that CF will actually do something with the massive land that PKD and PKI have. PKD has not had a major coaster since Volcano (1998) (Hypersonic really does not count to me) I just want a coaster with Capacity and a chainlift. I am having a hard time trying to find a negative here (except the re-ride policy)....but I could be proven wrong over time. JEFF -

pkdcoaster replied to Canobie Fan's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I am just more optimistic about a hyper now than I was 24 hours ago And it is not cheaper to pay for the license, Outer Limits is a perfect example of that and Geuaga lake. The biggest thing in this deal in my eyes is the Nickelodeon thing which is a HUGE family draw and IMO a much more profitable draw than Peanuts. I do not think the theming will be gone just the "name brand" stuff, much like the Outer limits deal, Nobody really noticed that. I do not believe the theming of Tomb Raider will be taken out or changed just the name. JEFF -

pkdcoaster replied to Canobie Fan's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Thank God... Finally PKD might get a Hyper (Intamin please ) and Free admission to CP hopefully but on a negative side I hope the re-riding policy will remain the same at PKD Now lets see how many names we have to change and I wonder if CF will leave the "Paramounts" on the front of the park name. It would be nice to have plain old "Kings Dominion" back which is what I am betting they will do. Italian Job-name change Tomb Raider-name change Drop Zone-name change Spongebob- GONE! Now I wonder what will happen to Flight of fear now that MTV soundwave is out of the question. man the whole Nickelodeon liscense will be lost probably and replaced with Snoopy I am gonna take pics of EVERYTHING that might change In the end I think this is verygood...cause these parks have been in nuetral since 2001 and CBS did not want to invest in a Big coaster due to being up for sale so now hopefully CF will put in some good coasters that have chainlifts and are over 130ft tall.
