  1. Sorry, I have lots of older shots of RT, but none of it running backwards. Rolling Thunder History Page
  2. It looks like they are updating the site with all the new policies and pricing park-by-park. They did SFMM and SFGAdv first (the two largest parks). If you look, most of the pricing pages for other parks list the 2005 season prices for daily tickets and 2006 for season passes. It's just a matter of time before all the ticket prices go up and policies are revised. The good thing is since there are 3 months until most of the parks open, they have time to get (unfavorable) public reaction and change things before the season starts.
  3. The next attraction for SWF has already been announced...a multi-million dollar waterpark
  4. From Motley Fool (via Yahoo) Interesting he says it's a bogus rumor, yet it was just posted on the SFGAdv website:
  5. That was part of the initial Red Zone proposal to stockholders. Apparently when Snyder bought the Redskins, he sold off all the concessions equipment to vendors who now run the concessions at the stadium, and he proposes the same thing in the parks. Of course, as SF's old management said, the concessions are high profit and it would be foolish to split those profits with vendors, but Shapiro and Snyder think they know best...
  6. IF Six Flags boosts their level of service, the price increase will be well worth it. If the price goes up but we still see closed rides, shops, food stands, shows, etc. then they will drive the parks into the ground. A park like SFGAdv offers $60 worth of entertainment in a day (between rides, shows, Safari, etc.), only if everything is really running. Also, don't count on all those old buy one get one free discounts and other huge discounts anymore.
  7. You could buy a pass at SFNE or SFA and use it at SFGAdv, but you have to process it at the park you bought it for before you can use it. You also may not be able to get a SFGAdv parking pass if you don't have a SFGAdv season pass, and there is a rumor parking is going up this season.
  8. Sorry, I should have been more clear in my first post...the second box are daily tickets. Last year's 1 day Theme/Safari park ticket was $48.99 and now it's going up to $59.99. That is a HUGE increase. Not that it affects me, since I bought my pass last fall, but it's major. I wouldn't be surprised to see all the parks start posting price increases, since this was just posted two days ago.
  9. So, we heard from the meeting that Shapiro had at SFMM that prices were going up, and that they raised the price of SFOT's holiday event, and now SFGAdv is raising prices. From the Park's Official Website
  10. Ummm...yes it did. This is the topic that won't die!
  11. My suggestion would be fly from LA to Pittsburgh. From there you can drive to CP, GL, and PKI. It would also mean you could add on some East Coast parks as well. You could do a loop: KW, Knoebels, HP, DP, SFGAdv, SFA and back to Pittsburgh. At least that's what I would do... 8)
  12. Avenue Q is worth the money, but that's off topic. Think of what a rip-off a movie is. Almost $10 for 90 minutes-2 hours of entertainment, and you only get to do it once. A theme park gives you up to 12 hours of fun, and you can do things as many times as you want, for $50. A park is a much better value, and the concessions are actually cheaper.
  13. Considering the city only has about 1/4 of all its residents back, who would run it and who would they be open for? It was an under performing park before the storm, and now with even fewer locals it wouldn't be worth it to re-open in 2006.
  14. On a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday you probably won't NEED to rent the Q-Bot, but it might be a good idea if you want to make sure you get on everything. There is a mad dash for Kingda Ka every morning, and probably the same for El Toro. Since they're both on the same side of the park, it will probably be a HUGE running of the bulls next year. What month are you coming? If it's May or June, you'll probably be OK, but July and August get really crowded. As it gets closer to the date of your trip, check GADV.com, GAInsider.com or GAdvUpdates.com for more information on how crowded the park is, and advice from the locals. I'll also be posting information after the park opens on my site, AmusementPics.com
  15. I love Lost. One of the best shows on TV, and very clever. Just when it seemd like they were wrapping things up and alomost painting themselves into a corner with the hatch, they brought in a whole new aspect with the tailees.
  16. All the straight guys and lesbians and bi-girls wanted to know what's in Elissa's pants. When the gay and bi-guys and straight girls found out she had a bulge, their curiosity was peeked. Elissa's bulge offers something for everyone! And it explains a lot of the bi-curious behavior Robb has shown in pictures and videos...
  17. Rockin' the Boat was GREAT! I even bought the CD soundtrack I loved it so much. And the show they had the seasons before that (I can't remember the name, but it was a show of TV music through the years, and hosted by Dick Van Dyke on TV's all around the theatre, which became the portholes for Rockin' The Boat). BGW's shows are usually pretty awesome. Imaginique was great. Their Halloween shows are really great, especially considering they only run for a few weeks every year. Monster Stomp is the best of the Halloween shows. You have to love any show where the performers are in bondage gear...
  18. I love a Schwarzkopf shuttle, but the old Arrows were fun too. They had the extra thrill factor of climbing the long sets of steps to the platform and the whole tower shaking with every launch. Especially if it was your first looping coaster, the experience was absolutely terrifying. Add to that the way the track just ends. Arrow shuttles were pretty good in their day. My first loop: Looking down from the platform:
  19. /\ Not just possible...it happened. There is a two-part article in Roller Coaster magazine (the current and next issues) telling the story of the founding of B&M, which details the whole early history working with INTAMIN on those rides before going out ion their own.
  20. Yep, and legitimately many people submitted the name Shockwave. It was strange because since it was Shockwave at MM, and the other eastcoast standup (at PKD) was also Shockwave, so it was kind of odd they ended up calling it Shockwave.
  21. I rode it at SFGAdv as Shockwave, and it was decent (at the time). My only basis of comparison (for a standup) was Shockwave at PKD, and I thought it was the better of the two. Since then B&M have made the standup a much better ride. I'm still not a huge fan, they are better now than they were back then. Here are a couple of pics of it at SFGAdv from my site: The Shockwave Page
  22. Interesting article in the Washington Post: X-Box Village? Nightmare on Elm Street Haunted House? That's less teen oriented and more "family friendly"? Their definition of "Family" and mine must be COMPLETELY different! _________________________________________________________________ Another from The Seattle Post Intelligencer
  23. Interesting article today from the Associated Press Interesting that they expanded the Board of Directors and included Harvey Weinstein. Strange choice, but Shapiro and Snyder must really be trying to build a MEDIA company out of this instead of just a theme park company. Also, "We're going to unleash a new creative energy from this company and we're going to make Six Flags a destination instead of a field trip ," sounds like the hotel should be going through and then some! That is an encouraging bit of news.
  24. I remember riding it and thinking the beginning was awesome, but the middle and end sucked. It seemed to be a common trait to all the Arrow megaloopers. That, and I remember thinking it was strange that Dana Carvey did the video in the station, which was odd because PKD had just opened their Wayne's World area and the Hurler up the road.
