Interesting in light of what's going on with SFMM's Freefall right now too. Maybe there is some kind of requirement they replace ride vehicles or something, and CF has decided just to get rid of them rather than updating. Also, maybe this is the "coaster" for sale at CP that the guy from El Paso was looking at... :?

You know you're at a Six Flags park when all you hear from enthusiasses at the park is Six Flags bashing and complaints. If it's so bad, stop coming to Six Flags parks... -

I don't know that I'd consider Coastin' Steve a celebrity... Now Flumie is a celebrity! -

This is ridiculous that Cedar Fair has kept pouring money into the the park and lowered ticket prices to completely give away the gate, and they STILL can't make this turkey fly. As for it being a "train wreck" when they purchased it, I think some people would beg to differ and say it's gone downhill since Cedar Fair bought it (attendance keeps dropping). -

That SFMM gig was a paid appearance for him, but yes he is a coaster fanatic, and she has become one as well. During their honeymoon in 1999, they came to ride Georgia Scorcher just after it opened. I think they were honeymooning on the Coast somewhere and made a special side trip just to ride. -
I think that was a "Buddy Christ" from Dogma. There's a bunch of pics available: Here

In the Gay Community, there are men who call themselves "Bears". They are generally larger and hairier men, who like other large and hairy men. They even have their own coaster group. -

Yeah, I don't think there are too many members of the Coaster Bears on TPR. Not exactly the Coaster Twinks either, but definitely not bearish -
NEWS: Six Flags Turns profit

I think this definitely means we'll see more of the same kind of improvements this year as last year. Probably SFOG and SFMM getting new themed sections along with new coasters, a Mr. Six's Pandemoium and/or watercoaster for SFA, and lots more waterpark expansions. -

They said 16 of the 31 parks got some kind of new attraction. The two interesting highlights of the conference call were that SFGAm attendance is up 32% over last year, and SFGAdv was up 240,000 guests YTD even with Kingda Ka down for 2 months. Together they make up almost 1/4 of the company's total revenue. -
^ several times I got in for the Season Pass holder ERT this morning, and it was absolutely FLYING over the tophat, to the point where the brakes were noticeably slowing the trains as the crested the hill. It felt really good to ride again! The ride is being run and overseen by all of the parks senior management and there is a crew of about 6 maintenance guys on standby at the ride. One has binoculars and watches the launch of each train. They are taking NO chances. The queue for the line has been completely re-configured (at least temporarily) with the line only on the path side of the launch (so no one has to cross under it). The have rope queues out on the path with umbrellas and mister fans, plus a bunch of drink carts. They even set up a line outside the park fence with a tent covering it for overflow lines. It's going to be crazy this weekend, but they seem to be ready, with lots of Security stationed all over the lines.

I almost rode it tonight, but decided instead to go to the Planning Board Meeting and see the new hotel (which looks AMAZING!). I did snap a few pics for my site

Hey, which Kroger was that? It looks really familiar (then again, most of the Krogers around the ATL look alike).

I miss the big chicken...I used to live in the ATL, and every time we went to SFWW, we'd stop at the big chicken. SFOG is one of the best SF parks. Their rides aren't record breakers but they are all solid and some of the "best of breed". Definitely best standup, flyer, and Schwarzkopf custom layout. -
My TIVO season passes are: Desperate Housewives Lost Amazing Race Arrested Development Six Feet Under Sopranos Deadwood Entourage I guess that makes them my favorites. I like a bunch of other shows (The Simpsons, Will & Grace, etc), but I figure if I miss something, I'll catch the re-run. When it's not one of those, it's VH1 Classic (especially The Alternative) or BBC America.

I just think its awesome the readers of TPR are so enlightened an open minded that this topic has kept going for so long without degenerating into bigotry or ignorance.

It's up on SFOG's site now too: http://www.sixflags.com/parks/overgeorgia/ParkPress/LastGaspOfSummer.html They have a couple of construction photos (I never knew it was red at one point!). They even have a logo on that sunset pic now: What a shame to see such a classic ride go...hopefully it finds a new home somewhere...
