  1. PM me with your info if you want to trade a SFGAdv for one of your SFStls!
  2. Cool...I just sent you a PM with my info. PM your info, and I'll mail a SFGadv map out to you!
  3. You can also get them at Guest Relations. I pick one up everytime I go through the parking gates...all you have to do is ask if they don't give it to you (like when you have a Season Parking Pass).
  4. I think it's really great that Six Flags is bringing back poster maps, and even better, they are now FREE! I collect them, and I would love to have a full set for this season, but with buying a house right now, my travel budget for getting to all the parks is severely limited. So I'm thinking for all the park map collectors out there, we should start an exchange with the Six Flags Poster Maps. The rules would be- All maps should be in "new" condition (no wrinkles, no extra folds, no food stains, etc) Any exchanges are on the honor system...if I send you one, you would be expected to send me one in exchange. No money should be paid for any of the maps (trades only) Would anyone else be ineterested? So far I've collected a few SFGadv maps I'd be willing to trade.
  5. I posted a bunch of new pics on My Site, including some from the Skyride:
  6. They don't just add MCBRs to piss off enthusiasts. A MCBR lets the coaster run 3 trains. It's just a case (once again) where the PARK decides they don't want to run 3 trains, so no MCBR is required. Once again, it all comes back to the park building it. I'm sure Claude & Walter will build whatever a park is willing to pay for.
  7. Looks like I'm alone in thinking it looks crappy!
  8. I think it's really hit or miss depending on what the park's are contracting them to buy. I don't think they've had a real "challenge" from a park in a while, or at least up until SheiKra. A lot of the coasters they've done in the past few years felt like they were off the shelf. They're still better than almost every other coaster out there even when they feel like we've seen/ridden them all before.
  9. Agreed! And I think the station looks really cheap. A plywood station doesn't belong on a multi-million dollar B&M!
  10. All the Six Flags parks are getting a lot of new things...not rides but park improvements which will serve them better in the long run. As for SFDL not getting anything, they are getting a new slide for the waterpark which is more than some parks ended up with. And SFNE and SFGAdv get more because they serve larger metropolitan areas. When your park is in the middle of nowhere (relative to big cities), it doesn't make economic sense to spend a lot on new attractions. From what I understand even without any new rides, SFDL maintains its attendance levels year after year.
  11. I got a few more today as well. Here's a teaser:
  12. I'm depressed...at first I thought my nearest coaster was Kingda Ka, but it turns out its: Vapor Trail
  13. For hotels, check Orbitz or Travelocity or one of those. There are lots of hotels in the AC area, many of which are affordable. Best bet is to buy a ticket online from the park's website: http://www.sixflags.com/parks/greatadventure/TicketInfo/index.html http://www.lo-qusa.com/flashpass/sfgaps.html There are no dead days in July unless it's pouring rain. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are the best Summer days to go. Kingda Ka 1st, then everything else. If you're using Flash Pass it shouldn't make much difference. Best food IN the park is Bets of the West, but all the food things are in the process of changing this season so the food options are changing. Jersey does have awesome pizza...do you like thin crust or thick crust? If you like thin crust, about 15 miles north/east on Route 537 (the road the park is on), there is a great place in downtown Freehold called Federici's which has great pizza.
  14. I stopped counting a LONG time ago. Now I'm content with just one (at a time)
  15. You know what they say..."You never forget your hundredth"
  16. Where did this listing come from?
  17. Africa is/was known as the Dark Continent by Westerners.
  18. There is a fascinating article on Jim Hill Media about makeover plans that were proposed for Future World: http://www.jimhillmedia.com/article.php?id=332
  19. I thought this was strange, but then I remembered the rumor going around that with the new ride next year, the New France area was going to get a makeover as Switzerland. That kind of makes more sense if they are really stressing the Europe angle. And Switzerland is a natural transition between France and Germany.
  20. SFOG hosts a Gay Day in June: http://www.pearlday.com/
  21. Guess it's just a world of bottoms around here...
  22. I think it's premature to ask this since 90% of the parks haven't opened for the season yet, and the parks always open "strong" with good employee attitude and staffing. Launching this pole on July 31st would make more sense, once most people have had a chance to see the "new" Six Flags in person and we get a chance to see if the improvements really take.
  23. That is the OLDEST rumor going, and has never been proven true. I don't believe Disney is not interested in developing any more parks in the US outside of Anaheim and Orlando at this point. To build in Texas would simply take away from Orlando attendance.
  24. ^ That turkey sandwich that bread with the golden raisins is AMAZING! I do love the sampler platter too though (except the gassy side effects). The fact they are starting so early and that it's the middle of the park means it won't be a secret for long. I see them making an announcement by mid-season.
  25. I don't subscribe to the idea that any park WANTS to add trim brakes to any coaster. No park goes and says "lets slow the coaster down just to piss off riders", they do it to help prevent whiplash injuries and help with maintenance problems. If they WANTED to add trims, it would also mean they want to do more maintenance (on those trim brakes), and go through all kinds of hassles with modifying the ride. Trims are only added to make the forces more acceptable to riders, or to save the ride structure (or both). In the case of most woodies I'd guess trims are added because the rides start to tear themselves apart. The wooden structure flexes and shifts with each train, and that eventually wears out the parts. If those forces can be kept in check, it prolongs the life of the structure.
