Insufficient restraints on coasters
PKI Jizzman replied to mattnz's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Without the shoulder part on the restraints you would fly forwards into the seat infront of you. The brakes are kind of harsh on Rita.. Now that you say that, I totally understand. Many people say Maverick could have used the t-bars, but there are two braking parts where I'd say the same. -

Did you think Boardwalk Bullet was rougher than Voyage? I don't think Voyage is anywhere near as bad as Bullet was. Bullet seemeed very moody and unpredictable. Voyage has been pretty consistant as far as being bumpy - stay away from the middle. Oh, here's the Timberliner press release thing I found on GG's site when they first came out. -

Hopefully being stapled in these new trains isn't as bad as the old trains Wait, no seat belts on Timberliners? Capacity should increase by a LOT because HW spends WAY too much time pulling on those seat belts. What, are we riding a coaster or going into oncoming traffic? -

This is the best news I've ever heard. Maybe I'll get a Holiday World season pass! Although, I think the trains look obsolutely ugly. Looks like and X-Car train extended. But seeing them in person will be a lot different. Bye bye PTC! The gold on those trains is just beautiful! (Photo by me) -

A - Avenged Sevenfold. One of my favorite bands! This is a very cool rock group. Their works over the years have changed a lot, and I love the variety of music that has come from them. B - Bang Camero. 80's rock with a chorus of like, 12 dudes! C - Cheeseburger. Have you hear Superjail!'s theme song, Comin' Home? Omg <3 D - Daft Punk. Electronic music is sweet. They inspired some really cool music, and Digital Love has an amazing solo. E - Escape the Fate. They've been pretty low profile, and been through rough times when losing their original singer, but they've stuck togther to make some really good Warped Tour music. F - Framing Hanley. You may have hear their sick cover of Lollipop, but check out more of their music! G - Gnarls Barkley. Who doesn't love a short, fat black dude with a high voice?! H - Hollywood Undead. Great stuff, Joe! London is my top choice on the "study abroad options." It looks really pretty, and my Brittish Lit teacher in high school only talked about the Castles and Towers they had there. Hopefully I'll visit there soon! -Zach -
Park News - (11/2/09) Check out this great trip report from Dollywood posted over at ThemeParkReview this week. I’ve also been told from another reader that Thunderhead will be getting some retracking done this winter. Apparently when you ride it currently, you can see some markings on the track showing off where they are planning to do the work. Thanks Screamscape! -Zach

Lots of swooping and diving...I like it! I should have done this... This photo TR was fueled by VAULT! At the misty, mystery, minneeeee Insert old, creepy laugh. At times, the brakes were rough...but I didn't really mind it. A breathtaking view of Thunderhead.

A big thanks to Tyler Barnett for letting me get such great pictures! Check out Screampark! The Joker made an appearance! No surprise Screampark one Newcomer of the Year! LO and Barnibus make a GREAT couple! Family photo time! The roamers were the best part, hands down. These guys are the best! oh my goodness she's beautiful! Psh. Harmless. Oh no, they have Brad! I mean, oh well. Back in Insanity? I must be going crazy with them! Michael doesn't look too thrilled about giant animatronics. But the little with does! Prince Albert doesn't look too happy Time to check this place out. Unfortunately, due to lighting, I couldn't get many good shots. A few more scary crazies, and you've made it out. Here's Johny! Then starts swining with an axe...and it starts coming through the door! OMG AWESOME! And there's a crazy lady that gets closer and closer... This is the coolest prop ever. It's a door...with a video screen as the window.... Seems some have been trapped in here for ages! Oh lawd there's more. Another dead end?! How do I get out?? They're here to taunt you every step of the way! She is so omfg hot. Oh they LOVE visitors! There are my girls! I'm not insane! 3D? Insanity The mazes are: Castle of Fear If you're familiar with the "vagina" sections of mazes, the Abyss has one! You give them twenty dollars, they give you a ticket and money back! Taking a look inside. Antonio should love this place! I'll pass, thanks.. I'll take that....annnddd that. I want YOU to visit Screampark! Souls says...this way...to your doom! LO and Barnibus playing with the pig ears haha Group Photo! With LO with with wings, Souls holding onto me, and Barnibus the pig on the right! Tyler, the owner is on the left next to me! Gotta show some love for the Abyss before we go! Thanks for viewing! -
Jizz Man's Halloween Special!
PKI Jizzman posted a topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Happy Halloween TPR! Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, and I love haunted houses. This season, I visited some of the BEST in the midwest, including probably the most AMAZING and EXTREME haunted house in the WORLD. I visited: -U.S.S. Nightmare on the Ohio River in Cincinnati www.ussnightmare.com -TerrorFest in Columbus www.theterrorfest.com -Screampark in Lexington, KY www.scarylexington.com and... Dead Acres' Haunted Hoochie in Patatskala, Ohio! www.deadacres.com --> First and foremost, Dead Acres' Haunted Hoochie in Patatskala (a few miles north of Columbus) is by far the most incredible haunted house experience you can possibly get. It's a huge indoor and outdoor attraction that takes about 25 minutes to walk through. First off, the actors are ALLOWED to touch you! That's right, they'll rub their chainsaws up and down your legs, grab your head, and just downright creep you out. It's all in good fun though- they'll touch you, but they won't hurt you. This is a small part of what makes it the best in the world. The scenes are beyond top quality; the anamitronics range from 20ft tall to little stuff here and there. This is a Halloween MUST SEE. It's unbelieveable...I can't even describe 1/4 of what this experience actually is. Screampark in Lexington, KY. This is Hauntworld.com's Newcomer of the year. Our old Fear Fest/Haunt buddy decided to go off and build his own haunted attraction....and, well, he DID! And did a damn good job. THREE, that's right, three haunted houses are inside this old abandonded warehouse. The Abyss - A big maze that's, well, pitch black from start to finish. Castle of Fear - a VERY well themed trip back to the middle ages. Insanity: Chaos Attraction - A part chain link fence maze park normal maze through infected victims. Three quality houses for 15 bucks! If you're in the area, you need to check this out! Terror Fest in Columbus - This sounded really, really good....and got great reviews. It's in this old abandonded brewery (sounds great, right?!) and has great theme - two houses in one, one leads into the other. But the actors were so boring and stale, this maze was not that good at all. The amount of effort into the house as far as setting up each room was GREAT. But the actors were so quiet and un-active....blah. Don't go! (Didn't take any pics) U.S.S. Nightmare in Cinci, OH - This is a real haunted...BOAT! Yeah, it's a haunted boat on the Ohio River! A long walk through this demented ship will find everyone's fear...bridges over water, crazy unique surprises, claustrophobia, and lots of blood! This place really got me to jump! (Pics from USSNightmare.com) Enjoy the photos... -JZ Time to take a trip to the ship's first aid room! Coming up...an IN DEPTH tour of ScreamPark in KY! Captain ...he runs the ship. Someone else you don't want to run into! but he may run into you.. This dude is NOT someone you want to run into! Onto....the USS Nightmare! Yup, it's on a boat over the Ohio River! (that makes it even scarier!) It's all good because we all work a haunt and we're all like family! This guy was really cool. He's kind of like, the overseer...he does an AMAZING trick with that shotgun! Go check out the Hoochie!!! Here's part of the physical aspect - crazy dude grabbing Britt and trying to bash her head in! LOL! This pretty much sums up the Hoochie: Hot chicks, chainsaws, blood, and creepy dudes! Get your ass to the Hoochie in Patatskala!! Here's about 1/3 of the Haunted Hoochie I'm a CRAZZZYYYY clown...gimme some candy 'cause it's HALLOWEEN! EVERYONE needs to read this! Dead Acres has two attractions: Haunted Hoochie - the big indoor/outdoor attraction....and Bad Trip in 3D...it had some cool props, not too many actors. NOT your usual clown maze! Dead Acres comes with lots of crazy guys covered in blood. -
....... The front seat is where this ride really proves its intensity. It's different than other GCI coasters. More pictures, still! There's many spots of airtime on this ride. The single row benches work amazingly. The first drop is quite steep Another look... Fantastic element Now down by the play are to get some up close shots. For the record, I forgot my 55-200mm lense! =( Thanks Thunderhead crew for letting me get such good shots! Hold on tight! I don't know what this is called...but I love it! Pop up, turn and then swoop down. It blends in perfectly with the setting. Thunderhead has nice, shiny, new restaints in the front...and old, orange ones that are VERY worn in the back. GCI gets extra points for pre-lift fun! Another reason why Dollywood is awesome. The op (Ray) saw me taking pictures and asked if I'd like to take some from the ride op entrance. Thanks Thunderhead crew! Down, up and around. Just passing through... One of the best wooden and steel coasters in the south! Trying to find new angles. Take the station fly by! And Thunderhead doesn't dissapoint GCI's are known for relentless speed. No thankssss .. Doesn't get much better than this! Coming up behind Thunderhead One of the best sections of any park I've been to. Gimme some pumpkin pie! Lovely red colors. Just exploring. a few streams flow through I'm ready for Christmas! And it snakes back around to the loading platform. It was pretty tranquill, and I didn't get wet...until the damn cannon at the end! A bit too cold to get wet today. Don't load too many TPR members on this rapids ride! Nice waterfall section Hey Rapids Nerd! I like these disks Walking around, heading to the County Fair section. Just another example of Dollywood's unique beauty

Adding Dollywood to my list. If it counts....Kentucky's Screampark tonight! -
More photos! I forgot to include that I absolutely couldn't find Slidewinder. I looked all over, couldn't find signs, and just gave up This cinnamon sugar, gooey, soft, loaf of bread truly is a piece of heaven! More to come! Train fanatics (Matt) will love Dollywood! This train was legit. You could hear it from miles and miles away These were the only guys I had to share with Dan, I hope your football game was fun! Omg omg omg omg omg! Dollywood is witch friendly. This water trough runs through a HUGE part of Dollywood. I love these newer age log flumes. Thankfully, I had the ride to myself so I didn't make that big of a splash! LOL Everyone get down! This would be Daredevil Falls One top knotch log flume. Beautiful landscaping all around Bunnies, medicine, goo, and RAINBOWS! What makes a watery death all better? I was able to take it over AND get people to take pictures of! Heading through the chasm of death. Name - Jizz Man. Location - About to take over flume. Remarks - Hey Dan, don't you wish you here?! This flume looked too awesome to pass up. Even if it's only about 50 degreese now. Just a great atmosphere. Wouldn't want to be anywhere else. Steel...fire...hm, maybe this is where they made Mystery Mine! Blacksmith shop was something I've never seen before. Dollywood attracts a whole different type of crowd with it's very neat section of the park dedicated to old school arts 'n crafts. Dollywood has a huge collection of bald eagles. It was a very cool exhibit! Awesome food....check. I'm a little lad who loves BERRIES AND CREAM! I love the smell of an open fire Do chickens have large talons? Very cool bird show. Bald meant white haired in the old days! Somethin' good a cookin' yonder. Gotta give Blazing Fury some love! What a great little ride. Hmm...I'm getting hunrgy. Let's go this way. Tornado blends in perfectly with the surrounding valley. It was about this time I wasn't able to see my frozen breath anymore! LOL! After hearing sounds of a tornado on the way, you head on out to the lift Forcast - tornadoes Even though it's a back seat ride, I decided to check out the front.

Hey TPR! Another installment on the way... So, I took a trolly to Dollywood since the aunt and uncle were going hiking elsewhere. When the trolly dropped me off (along with two other folks) little did I know it, but I was about 5 miles out from Dollywood! I was on the tram that goes directly to and from Dollywood. Apparently, I was dropped off at the Dollywood Information Center that's right off this main road. Soooo...I began walking. I saw a sign for Dollywood Lane, and followed it. Once again, little did I know Dollywood recently changed the entrance to the park, and I was heading in the wrong direction. I stopped in a golf hotel and these two nice 'ol ladies gave me a ride to the park because they were afraid I was going to freeze to death! I got in free, and that made up for my frustration with the wrong drop off. As stated before, I went once in '04 for about two hours, and rode the coasters. I didn't remember much of it being twelve years old the last visit. So it was like a whole new park to me! There were no waits all day, for the record. It was about 36* when I got there at 9AM, so only half the rides were running. I headed to Blazing Fury first. Blazing Fury - I totally forgot how long of a ride this was! The dark ride portion was fantastic, and the drops really took me by surprise. I loved it! Timber Tower - Thank GOD the water effects weren't on! The theming put into it was really cool - it's a nice area. The ride was pretty fun; Huss did a good job, and Dollywood did a good job supplying extra effects. I rode twice. Thunderhead - Lovely location for the ride. In the morning, it was one of the few rides open, and it was so cold they had little hand warmers and things blowing hot air so we wouldn't get too cold! I like Kentucky Rumbler over Thunderhead, but damn this ride is more intense! I thought it was a bit rough in the middle and in the back....not really rough, but compared to Kentucky Rumbler and '04...too much mini jackhammering. Granted it was very cold, so I'm sure I didn't ride in its prime. I rode about 10 times. Tennessee Tornado - This is probably my favorite looping coaster. A fantastic pre drop helix and first drop. The first loop is amazing, and the smoothness of this ride combined with the speed and other two grey out inversions...it's a top knotch coaster. I wish the other Arrows were as good as this! This is a back seat coaster. I rode about 7 times. Underrated! Mystery Mine - A new credit for me! I knew about the ride, and that it had three different sections, so I couldn't wait to ride. This ride grew on me soooo fast! The surprises, music, theming, drops, elements, everything!...was sooo cool and addicting. In the backseat it does get jerky, but the front I had nothing to complain about. A+ ride, I even bought a crow! I rode about 15 times. Mystery Mine vs. Steel Hawg/S&S's El Loco: Okay, so something I was just thinking about. I believe S&S could have made this ride; and better, at that. Steel Hawg has: a steeper drop, the same reverse banked curves, downward/upward heartline rolls, half loops, immelmans, and quick lifts. Pretty much everything MM has to offer. Gerstlauer did a fantastic job, don't get me wrong! But with S&S's restraints, I think they could have made the same ride with more comfort and extra elements. Mystery Mine = Expanded, themed, more elaborate version of the S&S El Loco. Both great, great coasters! Daredevil Falls - I got the whole ride by myself thanks to the weather! A great log flume, I loved it. The park was very nice, everyone was very friendly and helpful, and the Cinnamon Bread at the Grist Mill was epic! Best of all....I didn't have to share it! I wish I had done the Sky Zip tour...but I didn't have enough time. Enjoy the pictures of this beautiful park! -JZ Best...day....ever. More pictures to come! Threading the needle before hitting the brakes. This ride is like none other. I saw spots here. Then almost blacked out. Best loop ever? I never thought an Arrow overbank would be so delicious. Photogenic much? It's running! And only two people riding in the back seat. Time to go see if Tornado is open. This section of the park needs a bit more work to fit in with the rest of Dollywood. Great details on this ride. I love it. The outdoor section was pretty crazy. Loved that drop! Back into mine shaft #13 I'd love to come back and see this ride all lit up. Caw! Caw! Caw! Caw! Caw! Caw! Caw! Caw! Caw! Caw! Caw! Caw! Absolutely beautiful. When you have a whole train to yourself....the hang time is crazy! wrrrrrr whhrrrrrr Whhhhhhrrrrrr What a fantastic finale. Awesome. Hardly enough people to fill a train! Mine carts waiting to send you on your adventure. Pick your weapon, grab a lantern, and head into the mines! How many open seats can you spot? Omg <3 Dollywood is tucked into a valley in Gatlinburg. See? Hmm...there's really no one to keep out today, so I'll investigate. The structure seems HUGE when up close. It's so pretty. Testing! It must be above 40*! Haha Something is missing here, and I was VERY upset about it. Who can figure this out? Waiting for Mystery Mine to open. Love that red tree! Theming, theming everywhere... I liked this a lot. Job well done! A big 'ol happy mess of GCI goodness. A great coaster, but far from the number one woodie-Voyage!! Big fan-turn around Don't let the sun fool you...you'll come back to the station with tears frozen in the corners of your eyes! Station. It was eerie how quiet the park was. Wood is good. A nice lift hill view and oh boy, that is one fantastic twisting GCI drop right there! One train ops didn't bother me! I rode with only 4-6 other people until 11AM. Riding Thunderhead at 9AM in 35* weather was like riding Kentucky Rumbler in December! Thanks to the kind souls of these lovely women, I was taken to Dollywood. You never know what your "good deed of the day" will be!! Alright, this is getting f***ing rediculous...it's cold, foggy, where the hell am I? Where is Dollywood?! So after seeing a "no pedestrians" sign, I followed along this cart path on this golf course. Take note that the Trolly that goes ONLY too and from Dollywood, dropped me off about a mile back. Soo..the road I'm on is Veterans Blvd. The sign that's blocked by the blinding sun says "Dollywood Lane" Which would a coaster enthusiast follow?

Great stuff, Scott! Looks like a great time..and thank goodness your TPR hoodie kept you safe from scary Intamin cables! Always a great report. -Zach -
Hey TPR! So I had a great weekend down in the Smokies. It was colldddd in the morning, but pretty nice during the day. I went down Friday night in my aunt and uncle's RV; Saturday went to Ober Gatlinburg; Sunday, Dollywood! The craziest things happened....so here's my weekend Photo TR of Gatlinburg! Downtown Gatlinburg as some nice, touristy-stuff. The Ripley's Aquarium looked nice, but I didn't want to look at the prices. The main street gets soooo crowded! But at the same time it's nice to look at things. Ober Gatlinburg was okay. You have to wait for one of their two airial trollies to bring you up. It takes eight minutes to get up or down, so a round trip will be 20 minutes. This can be somewhat of a pain when waiting in line. So once we get to the top we go on out to the Sky Lift/Chairlift toooo...the Alpine Slide! It was a lot of fun! Then I went through a fun house, did the bumper cars, some mini golf, bear exhibit, and then that's it. It's pretty much a ski resort that put in little cheesy things to do in the off season. I wouldn't reccommend it...unless you're dying to go on the alpine slide. Here are my pictures! -JZ Oh, and everyone needs to text Ryan and tell him his car got transported to Gatlinburg!!! Thanks for viewing! Now THAT's how you build a cable! (Hint hint Intamin!) Prettyy, pretty, pretty. So many colors. So you go up and over 5 towers...that give you a SCARY amount of airtime! Wow. Big wheels keep on rollin'...and pulling the big sky cars up. Oh, hey Elissa! Ahhh! Okay you win, you win Ceasar! I'll do anything to earn money towards a TPR trip! Diamondback? Smarter than the average bear? Yeah bear, that beer felt good going down, didn't it? How's it feelin' coming back up?! Is this a....cat-in-a-hat? Oh Which one's BJ? Dude, he floated it BY HIMSELF! Or herself, I don't know bears. They have a bear exhibit. A high class Miniature Golf course can be found upstairs. Fudge! Vanilla was awesome. I think I got a cavity after one bite, though.... I think I would have rather been pulled apart bone by bone than go down that slide a second time! Quick, down this escape slide! Gah, they're too strong! My spine! He's stealing our bones to add to his skeleton frame! Damn them! Their skeleton is tinted and inpenitrable! AHHHH PIRATE ATTACK!!!! BOOTY!!! (You stepped near it and a red light in it lit up...but I think it broke when I was taking a picture of it!) Pirates like to look at themselves in the mirror as if they were midgets. Grrrr I'm an angry pirate who can't get any booty! A real pirate ship! But sea level is 3,800ft below? Twisting down the mountain. Couldn't get anymore pictures past this point! Can I take this down the alpine slide? Very pretty from up here Fun for everyone! You control your own speed. Taking a look back...you're high up in the mountains!! A leiserly ride up... Two - Do NOT end up like this! They broke rule one - Don't ram the ass of the person infront of you! Heading up to the Alpine Slide! Kids getting yelled at for playing grab-ass on the ice rink and plowing over little kids as they did so...bahahahaha Very pretty! And we're getting close to 3,800ft above sea level! Reason for calling them the "Smoky Mtns" Here comes our carriage! Got shrapnel? Tom Cruise is going to steal your babies. And your religion. Can you spot Robin Williams? "We should get big wheels on these so we can go off roading!" Get all your ninja weapons here! Fall theming is nice. Americas number one aquarium? Here's the outside and our little site. Yup, that's the Geico gecko. The RV was pretty cool. I think it'sa SunFire? For those RV experts out there.
