This essay is one of the hardest I've ever written. It's a response to the fantastic 1984 by George Orwell, we're supposed to write about the extent to which political euphemism (basically oversimplifying, almost the point of changing the entire point of what you're saying, so the masses stay calm) is ethical. I'm having trouble even figuring out my stance on the issue. I think I'm against it, since I honestly can't think of any situation where it would be okay to use the euphemisms, as opposed to telling the whole, unedited truth. But still. This is due Monday. I still haven't started. I still don't know how to start.

I honestly can't figure out why I like Eminem's music. Rap is my single least favorite kind of music, but something about him just appeals to me. The puns he uses? The fact that he actually raps about personal, interesting things, instead of about how "b***hes ain't s**t"? The fact that he has a sense of humor in some of his songs ("Just Lose It" is amazing)? I dunno, but I like it.

DARE - Gorillaz I picked up Demon Days a couple weeks ago, and have listened to it around six times now. Great, GREAT album, even if the last few songs are... strange, and there are a few songs that are just dull ("November Has Come" just isn't my thing, I guess).

So I got back from Hume Lake Christian Camps yesterday, which by the way was INCREDIBLE this year. SoCalMan, you know what I'm talking about. But there were two people there that I just couldn't stand. They were both pretty much, for lack of a more accurate or appropriate word, complete douchebags. Whatever we were doing was "gay" or "retarded" to them. When we were at rec, "THESE GAMES ARE GAY". When we were at a meal, "THE FOOD IS RETARDED THIS YEAR". When we were in chapel, "THE BAND IS GAY, THE SPEAKER IS BORING, LET'S SKIP IT!" I asked both of them why they even paid the $500+ to go to the camp for the week, if all they were going to do is bitch and moan the whole time, and only enjoy the free time and take nothing else seriously. Neither of them gave me a real answer or explained their negative behavior all the time. Ugh.

I watched Jacka$$ Number Two last night on TV, after having never seen more than a couple episodes of the show. I really don't know what to say, outside of the fact that the movie was insanely entertaining. It's basically a two-hour episode of the show: No overarching story whatsoever, no characters besides the ones from the show, and just stunt after stunt after stunt. Some were really difficult to watch, and I had to change the channel a couple of times (Fish Hook, the one with the mouse coming out of the wall with the snake), but the majority of them were so stupid that they were hilarious. I'm kinda glad it was censored a bit for TV. No language was cut, but nudity and stuff like that was blurred out, and I'm glad, since there was an uncomfortable level of it at times. Still, hugely enjoyable, if you're a fan of the show and stupidity in general.

I recently started playing Kard Combat, a Magic: The Gathering-esque card game for iDevices. It's easy to figure out, anybody can play it and do well with a little practice, but figuring out the finesse and strategy for each deck takes a ton of training and planning. I love how the game is based 90% on pure skill and strategy, with only a small element of luck in the very beginning with the cards you are given. The app is free, but in order to play past the fifth level of the Tower (campaign), or to access all of the 100+ cards in the game, you can either buy the full Tower mode for $3 and unlock all the cards manually, or pay a whopping $10 and unlock everything at once. Or buy the cards for each mage individually for I don't know how much. But try it, it's fun!

I just finished 1984 for the first time. Just... damn. I can't even find the right words to describe the ending to that book. The entire thing blew me away, I can't wait to analyze it in AP English 11 this year.

Oh, hey, someone got into my Xbox Live account and bought 10,000 Microsoft Points (about $150). Thank God they didn't use any of them, so we pulled the credit cards from my account, told the companies about the purchases we did not make, and they're conducting an investigation to figure out what happened. I'll have to go 18 days without Xbox Live, but hey, that's a VERY small price to pay to get my account back and figure out how this happened.

So my high school is doing Thoroughly Modern Millie too, albeit next year, but the majority of the male portion of the theatre company here is NOT looking forward to it. They're angry about how female-focused the show is, and how there are only three male principals, and two of them have to be Asian.. Is there anything I can tell them to get their hopes up for the show?
