  1. One bus does sound a lot better and more intimate. I joined ACE a few years ago, in hopes of meeting others and having fun with them. I went to one event, and there were too many people and too many cliques and I didn't really have a chance to get to know anybody. I was disappointed and didn't renew my membership...maybe I just didn't give it a chance. TPR just seems like more of a "fit" with me. I hope I'm right.
  2. Okay. After reading this post, I went to youtube to find a video of a kangaroo kicking the crap out of a guy that I remembered seeing once. But this was the first video I found. Apparently, kangaroos are dangerous and quite obnoxious. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hejsb-VgPgI
  3. ^Oh. I misread your post. I read it as "not one guy has mentioned" instead of "no one but Guy has mentioned". I'm a fool.
  4. ^I thought one of the main draws to these trips is to meet new people. I'm not going to know anybody either. If I wanted to just hang out at a park with one of my friends, I could do that anytime. I'm excited about the opportunity of meeting new people with the same obsession. I need coaster friends.
  5. What the....what? How can a place have things like that and wombats? Please tell me that there aren't any wombat eating spiders.
  6. Thanks guys. I have about 15 of their shirts. I actually ordered a couple more earlier this week, but then I thought about it, canceled my order, and sent in my deposit for the Deep South trip instead. I guess I need to cut corners somewhere.
  7. I am addicted to Threadless t-shirts. I have submitted a few designs in the past, but never pimped them here. I have one up for voting now, so please check it out. If it gets selected for print, I will earn enough money for the TPR trips. Yay! You have to have an account to vote, by the way. http://www.threadless.com/submission/183916/Suicide_Hotline
  8. I appreciate the more affordable trips. I wasn't complaining...just pointing out that "affordability" is all relative. I've never questioned that the price wasn't worth every penny...I just don't have so many pennies to spare. On a side note. Do people from the same areas generally help one another out on finding good airfare? I will be flying out of DFW to Atlanta for the Deep South trip, and I just wondered if others are also flying out of Dallas maybe we could look out for cheap fares and alert the fellow travelers when we find one. I assume that this would all be discussed in the trip threads, but I just wondered if it usually works like that. I guess I'll be flying home with quite a few TPR members as they start the Texas trip, and I go back to work.
  9. These trips are not that expensive. Seriously, if you look at generic sightseeing tours you'll see that our trips are a steal for what you are getting. They aren't expensive for what you get, but that doesn't mean that they are affordable. There are a lot of things that I think are worth the price, but I still don't have the funds to purchase them. I am going to have to save every week and hope for a good tax refund to afford the one trip that I plan on going on. Then, I still have to find affordable airfare. I wish Southwest flew into Atlanta. If I were working solely for the trip, I could afford it and the airfare after a few weeks, but I also have to take into account my mortgage, car payment, insurance, student loans, and utilities.
  10. I waited an 1.5 hours to ride Drop Zone at KI the year it opened (or was it the year after?). Anyway, it was the same day that the kid fell out of Drop Zone at Great America, apparently right before I was about to get on Drop Zone all the way across the country. They just closed it and made everyone leave the line with no explanation. I was pretty pissed. We only had about 2 hours before park closing when we got in line, and it was a toss up whether we would ride Face-Off or Drop Zone. We didn't ride either.
  11. I would love to! But I don't think he'd appreciate me leaving him alone for a week with our two toddlers. Give them all a few Xanax's and a beer and tell them "Mommy's going shopping".
  12. Thanks, Robb! A "meet up" sounds great, and I hope it happens. I just want to be able to meet everyone and hang out without barging in uninvited. I know just showing up is discouraged if you don't actually know any of the trip participants (and I don't!). Still going to keep my fingers crossed that hubby will cave on the actual trip, though it doesn't seem likely. I don't know anybody either, but really want to go on a TPR trip. I told my boyfriend (who isn't a park fan and wouldn't be coming) and he seemed surprisingly cool with it. I think he must figure that if I get to go on a trip, then he will be allowed to visit his friend in Key West later in the year with no questions asked. Just come without the hubby, and hang out with me.
  13. I've sent my deposit for the Deep South trip. Even though I live in Dallas, I haven't been to SFOT in a few years simply because it bores me, and I've already been to SFFT and SeaWorld, so it's not terribly tempting. Carowinds is the only Deep South park I've been to, and it was many years ago (before Vortex even). So, because I can't afford the West Coast trip, and definitely not Scandinavia, this seems like the perfect choice. It'll be my first TPR trip. I sort of mentioned that I wanted to go on one to my boyfriend, but I doubt he paid any attention to me. He'll probably notice the paypal transaction on the bank statement though. Oh well. Time to start saving...hopefully my income tax check will come before the next payment is due.
  14. I usually lose interest in all shows. I don't watch any sitcoms. I used to love Six Feet Under. Weeds is awesome (rivals the writing and acting of Six Feet Under), but I don't have Showtime, so I just wait for the DVD. I watch The Amazing Race. And I am embarrassed to admit that I also enjoy Project Runway and America's Next Top Model and So You Think You Can Dance (the three gayest reality shows - but if the shoe fits...).
  15. I suppose this will be my official entry. Even though I like Maverick on Maverick, I think this one fits the theme more, has better Photoshop skills (these people were attractive before I got a hold of them) and has a more obscure rhyme. Shoulder Rash on Boulder Dash.
  16. Oooooh....This is the only time that I'll ever say that I hope The Maverick beats Obama.
  17. I didn't ride any coasters this year. My last coaster was Millennium Force, last August.
  18. I am bitter towards John McCain for completely ruining my opinion of Maverick. I used to love it, but now I will always associate it with him. At least he gave me Photoshop ammo. I figured others would have the same idea...that's why I acted on it so quickly.
  19. I never thought that these two people would be of any use to me. Maverick on Maverick, of course Gettin' all "Mavericky", my friends.
  20. Even if your theory were correct, which it isn't, it would make more sense to say that magenta is a primary color, since cyan, magenta, yellow and black (CMYK) are the colors for printing, and red, green, and blue are the colors for light (RGB). But the supports aren't being run through a printer, so it doesn't matter. restoca was correct. Paint color have a white base, with pigment added. The red pigment may be a combination of magenta and blue though. I'm not sure...I'm not a paintologist...I just know that red doesn't take less work to make because it's a primary color. Anyway.....I can't wait to ride this red coaster and yellow, and sometimes tan, coaster
