Six Flags Great America 7/21
terrancew_hod replied to texashorns82492's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I see the starter of this thread deleted his first post... you guys shut him down! Anyway like some people have mentioned, it's all about doing your research. Besides, you're a member here... you could have asked about the best way to navigate the park before you got there; then you could have told your parents about q-bots and the crowds. Even without researching, I know during the summer crowds are a mess on saturdays; any park i go to on that day I'm doing anything to reduce my wait in line: fast passes, q-bots, express lane, etc. But most times unless the kids are back in school, I won't go to parks on the weekend because there will be less people there during the week. ^^Actually there was an attempt at worlds of fun I believe last year. I found this from a cached page: source: http://blogs.kansascity.com/crime_scene/amber_alerts/index.html There's a live link at http://www.thekansascitychannel.com/news/9479439/detail.html if you want to read it. The only problem I would have is that they knew he was following them and they did nothing. (That's the not paying attention aspect) So it's happened once at a park, although he was a bit brazen for trying to carry someone out of the park in front of everyone. Terry EDIT: so basically the friend that the girl was with wasn't paying attention to have a man just walk up and grab her.

A Girlfriend that Honestly Loves Coasters?
terrancew_hod replied to slick858's topic in Random, Random, Random
I hope you're taking your girlfriends to places other than amusement parks. I can't really see going to amusement parks as a early date. That's almost like you having to sit and get your nails "did" with her at the salon as a date. And here I thought finding someone who doesn't mind spending quality time at home was a problem... (found one btw) Terry -
Actually to tell the truth, the only difference between groups like Erasure and groups of today is that they wrote the songs. Rather than the majority of the singers being given songs or writing lyrics to be given credit for the song to make some money. I went back and listened to songs I grew up with and to be honest they aren't much different on how they are set up. I think I may have liked them because the industry wasn't relying on image to sell records so you had someone unattractive person screaming their lungs out. (We can blame C&C Music Factory and Milli Vanilli for music's downfall ) I don't like a lot of songs because they really don't have a chorus or bridge... just a loop. A lot of Erasure songs are like that too, thus they weren't one of my favorite groups. Too much keyboards and not enough bass and drums annoyed me. I did buy Depeche Mode's Violator though, even though one of my roommates stole it. You want to hear real music, you're gonna have to hit the classical and jazz sections of your music store. I'm pretty sure the time alotted was enough for his group to hit the major rides and look around, considering they still had other places to visit. I know for this midwest tour in another 1 1/2 weeks, I bought some better walking shoes and a travel pillow because I know we're gonna be running. I looked at the schedule and said "Damn I'm gonna need to stretch in the morning" I have to buy some breakfast bars to eat too! I'm gonna have fun, but I'm gonna be tired when I get back to Miami! You know when I was a child, I never left my parents' side because I knew the consequences of running off when i got back--I was going to get my butt torn up by both parents. They didn't play either--it was going to be one old tag team. Even though that won't work for all parents, your children have to know before you go to some big public place that you're in charge and they're not to leave your side. It seems a lot of parents don't do that and these kids get away with stuff and all you hear from the parent is a half-hearted "Don't do that." If that's the best they can do, then no wonder the children are running wild. If you don't have control over your child and you aren't going to watch them, then you don't need to be taking them someplace where they're gonna run off on you. Get one of the child leashes if you can't keep them from running off. YOU have to be the one responsible for your children at all times, not pass the responsibility off. You can't expect security to do that, and that's how predators prey... on people that aren't paying attention. And I agree with the others as far as park lock downs. Most times what happens is it what happened to your child... they got on another ride or ran into a candy or toy store when the parents weren't paying attention. No one is going to do that so you shouldn't expect parks to be extreme like that. Just watch your kids at all time and teach them not to run off from you. Terry

Abercrombie & Fitch gone too far..
terrancew_hod replied to DarkStitch626's topic in Random, Random, Random
$400 is a bit steep for my tastes especially when I learned this valuable fashion tip when going out: Great body trumps expensive fashion. I made more that a few people bitter that had Diesel ensembles, and Versace and I ran in the club with a $25 shirt and $80 jeans... then yanked off the shirt and had the attention all night. If you're in shape, (just about) anything you wear will make you look good. I still wouldn't be shopping in Target for anything except gym socks and mouthwash. I think I paid $150 for a pair of jeans and $125 for a pair of shoes though one time... you just have to make sure that they look flattering on you otherwise you're wasting money. Terry -
With a girl: 18 after I graduated and I hung out with this girl that summer. Didn't do it for me. With a guy: 20 in my dorm room. Still didn't do much for me. First kiss I liked: 21 with a male stripper that thought I was really cute. Ok, that did it. The story goes straight to the gutter after that. Terry

^I sent you a PM, but it's use-wheelchair-to-avoid-long-lines time! You can get one of those cute canes to walk around with if you don't have to use crutches. Terry

A few things: 1. Did a bunch of online shopping for things I needed for the midwest trip. Bought a few things that were 40%-75% off the list price. 2. My video camcorder wasn't really broken after all. The old battery was bad and the outlet I had plugged it into was bad. I put in a better replacement battery and plugged it into a different outlet and the battery charged. A $400 purchased saved! 3. Last week someone I met last year and thought was cute came up to me and told me he had a crush on me. We've been on three dates and have another one tomorrow. 4. I put on another 10lbs of muscle. I stopped by the office to pick up one of my supplements I forgot and a UPS driver stopped on the street and had his head out of the door staring at me walking across the empty parking lot! Did you see something ya like? Terry

I know you're young so maybe you haven't been taught this: If you KNOW something is a touchy subject (ie updates), anything given should be received with much gratitude. So instead of selfishly saying "thanks for the small update..." you should have just said "Thanks Robb for the update!" See the difference? And if you add "to me", such as you did in the above quote, you're thinking about yourself rather than being grateful you got something. It's all in the delivery son. Geez. It's like a buying a hungry man a dinner at Denny's and he says "thanks for the snack." Terry PS Robb: Thanks for the updates and all that you do despite what you have to put up with from the "ungratefuls", especially when you don't charge ANYONE to come to your site to look. Look forward to seeing you in two weeks for the Midwest trip!

Wild Adventures....worth going?
terrancew_hod replied to stevenpensacola's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
After passing it a few times during my "sabbatical" two years ago, I went to this park. It was OK, but nothing to shout about. I ended up leaving after Cheetah tore my back up. I sat near the front and the coaster was still rough. I drove a few hours south to Universal studios in time to get a few rides in. Terry -
What's the worst song you ever heard?...
terrancew_hod replied to Movieguy's topic in Random, Random, Random
Actually Wing (the lady in the video) said she took opera lessons and she has about 7 Albums that you can buy or download off the net. Her "music" was also featured on an episode of Southpark. I bought a few of them and put them on my old ipod. I put on my old website that I could hear her turn the pages of the karaoke book on one of her songs and some music magazine in New Zealand referenced it (it's on her website as well).... and i got an email from the recording studio owner where she records her albums and he said I have some good a$$ ears! I clocked the fact she that she sings from the karaoke tapes and sings from the book! She's making a bit of money from those albums! Terry -
^yes you can. He should at least help reimburse you for it if he's a friend. I would. Terry

What are you doing right now instead of posting?

Drinking a glass of N.O. XPlode before I head off to the gym and listening to my roommate play his music on the downstairs computer. Terry -
I think I know who you're talking about. I hope you know you're making the Midwest trip that much more interesting. It's gonna be some interesting introductions going on that first day. You know: people avoiding people or having to make apologies for things they've said. I'm bringing the "Young and the Restless" theme and cueing it up on the PSP to play. Then I'm sitting back and having a cocktail. Drama. Terry

I'm in the process of putting this on my "hot mess" page of my website: I know lil' Shakim is hot, but is this really necessary? They're too lazy to open the fire hydrant I guess.

I could tell how rough it was by that alien sound you were making during the launch! Sounded like your larynx was bouncing up and down. I almost spit up my water! Terry "Can't sit by Robb on Midwest trip else I'll be too busy laughing to enjoy the ride" Weaver P.S. You know I rewinded that launch back several times. Guess that was the bad bouncy-bouncy.

^let me give you two links then: http://www.dragpageantry.com - It's a smaller site but they are pretty friendly if you ask them about any newbie questions you have. There may be a few threads that have some info in them. You may see me pop in from time to time to check things out. As a last resort: http://www.carriefairfield.com - This is a fairly big site, and has members from all over the world. Tell them you are from out of the country and wanted to know any tips... they should be able to help you. The members there are rather cut throat and the site is undermoderated so you have to tread carefully. Don't even bother posting an avatar pic, join, ask the question and leave! (Don't mention my name either--heh heh. Long but good story behind that one! But that's part of the reason Dragpageantry got started ) Hope that helps you look your best come halloween. Terry

^you lost a bet? Heehee, CoverGirl doesn't cover boy. M*A*C is the only way to do it if you're gonna go out in public. Sorry used to have drag queens as friends... they would be very upset right now if they saw that picture. One kid came up to one of my friends and they looked like that pic; they asked how they could improve their look. My friend handed him a washrag and a bar of soap. Oops! ). It's 6:15am and the sun is starting to come up. Why did I just hear more fireworks go off? Someone didn't go to bed or has nothing to do! Isn't the 4th over? Save 'em for tomorrow night if you have to! Terry
