When I first heard about it, I thought it would just be sold to another Theme Park chain, but the majority of people are saying it will be closed down as the land is very hot. -Martyn A lot of people have given up hope on saving SFMM. But there is still a pretty good chance that SFMM will not be torn down. Remember there is still 70% of the season left, plenty of time to turn things around with the attendence. After hearing about the news, a lot of people are planning to go to SFMM, in case that is their last time. This could help SFMM significantly. Besides, it costs a lot of money to get rid of everything in the park, and Six Flags can't afford to spend even more money just to get rid of a park. SFMM would then still haunt SF because they would have to repay the debt of SF. P.S. Don't give up your hope, just because others are giving up theirs

Couldn't they get in trouble for pulling such a trick like that? Would that be classified as "False Advertising" or misleading? The theory is very interesting though and I wonder if this could be also used toward their other parks like Waterworld, SFEG, SFDL and so on. I'm not so sure about this, so correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't really think he's advertising the possible selling of the park. On the SFMM website it does not say anything about the park possibly being for sale. Sharpio has the freedom of speech, to say whatever he wants to say. Besides he's not really saying that the park is closing, we're just assuming that the park is closing because he put it out to the media. He can't control whether this gets on the news or not once he has already made the statement. I'm not so sure, but I don't think he's misleading us, because he still hasn't said if the park was going to close or not. It's kind of like putting a house on the market. You can keep it out there as long as you want, you can give it to whoever you want as long as that person has the money, and you can take the house off the market at any time.

I LOVE BEYONCE & ROLLER COASTERS
-
^^^^^^Before all of this^^^^^ I used to like him. But now he's just all big headed and doesn't know when to shut up. Its like he's against you if you don't like Scientology, or even question it (since most people don't know what Scientologists believe). His "love" for Katie Holmes is only temporary and then he will dump her for someone else. P.S. I still think their baby is fake, no one has seen any photos of her, and Katie's parents did not show up for the pregnacy either. (Because they didn't want to trick America into thinking that her daughter is pregnant). Its just happening all too perfectly, Tom has his baby just in time for the premeire of MI3, just so this can increase box office numbers. But thats just what I think

I see your point, but Sharpio isn't trying to hurt us, he's trying help everyone he can. Sharpio's main concern for right now is to make the people who have invested in the Six Flags company happy. I'm sure Sharpio does not necessarily want to see SFMM be turned into a real estate development, but he doesn't want to turn away a huge opportunity either. Besides it is still way too early to tell what he is going to do. We never know, he may decide to let another theme park company have it and do what he could not with SFMM. He may not even sell SFMM at all. We just don't know right now, only time will tell

dang it i don't want the whole quote oh well goliath-its not as good as SFOG's not even by a long shot. SFOG's is a lot more smoother (due to the fact that it is newer). even though SFMM is taller, has a loner drop, SFOG has a much better layout with a lot more elements. sure SFMM'S is infamous for the positive Gs, it lacks negative Gs. SFOG is more balanced with nice positive Gs but awesome negative Gs. SFOG's goliath is much better than SFMM's goliath scream- i agree with you on that, probably the yackiest looking roller coaster ever. the ride looks more like it belongs in a fair where the ride is up for a few weeks and then gone for the rest of the year.the fencing is horrible looking, looking like construction is going on, it just looks like they put it up there without any planning done psyclone- very rough ride. but the georgia cyclone is quickly catching up with psyclone in roughness superman the escape- amen to that. i remember watching one of those coaster shows on the travel channel and watching paul ruben saying it is a one of a kind experience. yeah right! oh well magic mountain will be here for another 35 years so you can experience all of these disappointments with your children and your grandchildren

thats the point!!! MIGHT be closed, they never said it would be closed. might does not mean definately it means they may or may not. saying that the park is going to be bulldozed does not help the situation, and neither does boycotting. nothing is said or done so we can't say it will be bulldozed for sure because we just don't know protesting does not help because they will do whatever they do no matter what people think. boycotting SFMM will only make the situation worse, and boycotting SF in general is going to make things a lot worse because then they will have to sell all of the parks due to the debt. we don't know what sharpio is going to do, we just have to hope he won't sell SFMM

trying to make six flags a family park will defineatly take time. but you don't start with adding family rides, and selling off parks, you start off with adding better employees. six flags wants a better atmossphere, but they should start with their employees. instead of hiring just anyone, hire more people who enjoy their work. of course six flags has those employees, but its the employees who have an attitude are the ones you remember. start off with that and then see how it effects the atomsphere. also clean the park and make security tighter. get rid of flashback, psyclone, dropout, and all the other rides that have not been operating, or operating well. but like i keep saying we don't know if SFMM will be sold, we don't even know if any of the parks will be sold

even though your probably right, i like laffy taffy its a very stupid song with 20 cent worth lyrics but for some reason it is very catchy
-
lucky you i have to read frankenstien-which is not as intresting as you think, of mice and men, and myths and legends ive read 1 of them so far
-
This article is the exact same as the statement Sharpio gave, except this was put in the newspaper for the people who do not look at the six flags website. but nothing is said and done, so saying that your going to move or your going to buy off some of the rides is pointless right now. we still don't know. for all we know, Sharpio could be selling off the other SF parks and keeping SFMM., we just don't know

Most Disappointing Coaster!
map2 replied to Beate's Freak's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
revenge of the mummy- orlando version short ride withsome cool elements, but it was overall mediocre i know this isn't a roller coaster but mission space- they made it seem like it was the most intense thrill ride ever. all it was was just g-forces and a very weak negative-g attempt. -
if you want, just check out the different resorts in las vegas. you don't have to gamble or spend money, just look around and see how nice the hotels are. good hotles for doing this are bellagio, ventiain, ceasras palace, ad the wynn all of the ritzy hotels. you can brag to your friends that you were in bellagio, excluding the part that you did not stay there.
-
i know this is a very messed up comparasion, but in orlando, more locals go to universal opposed to disney. disney is more for the tourists and universal is al ittle bit more for the locals- did that make any sense, because to me it didn't what im pointing at is that SFMM is more of a park for the locals. disney and universal prices are too expensive and knotts is small, and can be done in less than 5 hours without any wait. basically SFMM is a park for teens. repackaging it is not worth it, destroying it will cause too much uproar-and gve six flags negative feedback, what other option is there but to sell it to another competitor but lets be realistic people, more than likely SFMM is staying
-
like i said before EVEN IF this is true, CF or someone else will buy it. think about it CP and SFMM are competitors when it comes towards roller coasters. if CF buys SFMM, this will generate more money for CF because now they have wiped out their biggest coaster competitor, and that is one less competitor out there. yeah sure if CF buys out MM they will give dorky names to the rides like batman, superman ,scream, ninja, viper, deja vu, goliath, riddlers revenge but it wouldn't be too bad
-
i never thought about that! thanks
-
wow!! this really surprises me. i can see why sfgadv would lead in attendance, but im not so sure how sfgam brings in the most money. my only guess could be that they are both within driving distance of a large metropolitan area, but SFMM is within a large metroplitan area too p.s. if you have an article or anything about the info that you have, i would be very interested to see how some of the other parks are doing

What is your local park?
map2 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
my home park is SFOG! at first it was kind of average, with no new big rides, but in the past 5 years, SFOG has definately taken a positive turn im about 25-30 mins without traffic, and 45mins-1 hr drive with traffic -
im sure this is alredy a post, but i do not have enough time to go through 50+ pages. how far of a drive is sfgam from chicago? is it close enough to go for more than one day when your hotel is in chicago, or is it too of a drive to even consider getting there within a day?
