  1. We live in South Florida- which is even worse with the humidity and heat! From the Camp site, it looks like most activities are outdoors.... But for a sleep away camp, maybe it could be fun. (BTW- the Zip line Experience is $79 and has to be booked in advance)
  2. I'm not one to usually bump dead threads, but my son is considering going to the summer camp at this location, and we are taking him there to look at the camp soon. Has anyone done it yet since it's within an hour or so from the parks? If so, think it would be worth it to book a ride while showing him the camp area?
  3. Has anyone heard anything on this place? I was hoping to hear some stories from Halloween, but this thread has been quiet since the summer....
  4. I actually have 2- both from Universal Studios Orlando- 1)The Flying Unicorn/The Flight of the Hippogriff- I'm a big guy (250+lbs), and I rode with my 6 year old son. Problem was the lapbar held ME in, but didn't come near him, so when the car turned to his side, I caught him lifting up and out! He thought it was the most fun, and I came off white as a ghost.... 2)The ORIGINAL Duddley Dooright's Ripsaw Falls- when the park opened, the drop was much steeper, and there were no restraints of any kind- when you hit that fall, you really felt it, and got airtime on the hill coming out of the fall. They have since tamed it way down, but when the park opened....
  5. Sad to say it was on Volcano at Kings Dominion about 3 years ago. Have since lost 50lbs and would love another crack at it!
  6. I gotta ask a question- my Dad lives in Brooklyn and just told me he heard that they were going to re-hab and re-open the Parachute Jump. Any news on that?
  7. There were actually 2 places you could be thinking of- TropWorld and Ocean One. Tropicana Casino built an amusement park with a ferris wheel, bumper cars, and other carnival type rides. They also had a Harry Anderson movie if I remember right.... The other was the shopping mall Ocean One outside of Cesears. They had a 3rd floor mini golf area, couple flat rides, and a large arcade in the back with a 2 story TV wall that blared MTV (when it still showed videos) and other stuff. There was also a great rib joint there called Jilly's.... Anyway, this was when I was a kid in the late 80's to early 90's. Hope this helps!
  8. I took my son there this weekend and the sign said the Hurricane is Permanently Closed. No one inside knew if it was going to be torn down or any other plans for it. I will try to get a picture of the new depressing signage...
  9. Let's hope it isn't another IOA HITSSTR....built for opening and we waited how many years looking at the track for it to open? Granted this looks a lot more promising, but it is a lot more expirimental. And anyone that wants their karaoke fix, if you are ever in Ft Lauderdale, I run 2 shows, believe me, I'll make you forget some long lines with bad singer stories...lol
  10. I know this is a far fetched idea, but it could go up the road a bit to Boomers, next to the Dania Beach Hurricane. They have a lot of land next to it, and across the sevrice street- behind the go-carts. That would really make it the closest thing to an amusement park in South Florida...second only to Uncle Bernies of course!
  11. Non park related, but 8 hours for 10 gallons of gas after Hurricane Wilma in Florida. Cars that were running ended up being pushed in, and then limited to the amount you could buy. And the line was about 2 miles long that took 8 hours.........
  12. Unfortunately, in FL if you have a coaster or any structure over 200 feet, you have to include airplane warning lights. Disney, Universal, and Bush all feel it detracts too much from the theming of a coaster to include them. And technically, Shreikra is 199 feet, but since it goes underground, they say 200 feet+. Personally, I would love another independant coaster to break that tradition at maybe Cypress Gardens, or like the Dania Beach Hurrricane...
  13. If they do it creatively, it could be really good. I know it is way too late to suggest a new plot line, but I was thinking something more similar to an Aliens plot: The US secures the Islands from the disease escaping. In the following weeks and months, they send in remote planes to survey the creatures. They find some are developing intelligence. They send in a team of people to get a ground assesment after they declare it "all clear". They are actually sending them into a trap or the new area where the zombies are evolving. After capturing/killing/raping the team sent in, the new mutated creatures develop either swimming abilities or flying. One escapes and trashes Europe or the US....... Heck I should publish these ideas somewhere.....lol
  14. They could do it like Fried Ice cream- Freeze the Coke, coat it, and fry it for a few seconds. Presto- Fried Coke!
  15. South Florida deep sea driftfishing
  16. I would say any park that Dubaidave has posted on here would have to rank up on the list!
  17. That is too funny, we were in the parking lot as the sky writer was finishing the word 'JESUS'.... And when you wer delayed at the airport, we were in Old Town...one minute nice but cloudy, the next HELL.... It was eerie- I had told my wife wouldn't it be funny to run into those people friom TPR, and she told me "Nah....they're in California- not Florida" Can't wait to show her this TR.....lol And if I can figure it out, I took some pics from Old Town's flat rides to post for those that haven't been in a while.
