I'm wondering if this might be partly why Nick is interested in SFNO now.

I love the small European parks. Most of them I've visited with TPR have had really good theming similar to what's shown in your TR. Thanks for the photos and great TR!

Carowinds Discussion Thread

It certainly looks like more my type of ride than its Intamin Virginia sibling. Kudos to Carowinds! -
Fair enough then Scott. I actually agree with you somewhat on the boredom part, and it's one of the reasons I moved out of the state 10 years ago.

Which I guess I just don't get either. Maybe some people still want to think of it as stuck back in the 1800's or even the 1990's, but it's as modern as anywhere else in the US really. Sure you still have the redneck country bumpkins, but I've found them everywhere else I've travelled in the US too coast to coast. It's hard to break stereotypes though I suppose.

It's good to see TPR members having so much fun at AA! Although I haven't visited the park since 2004, I really never understood all the whining and complaining about AA over the years. I had a great time there, so I can only imagine what it'd be like now...this TR definitely makes me want to get back down there.

Mark's Postcard Paradise

Here's one for all you TPR peeps who went with Robb and Elissa to Vegas last week. I picked this postcard up in the Vegas airport gift shop during my 2 hour layover there 3 years ago. I'm not sure I'm sad or really happy I didn't have enough time to ride The Roller Coaster (Manhattan Express was such a better name!) though I could see it from the airport windows. Lots of places to steal all your money. Fabulous! Well maybe not so much The Roller Coaster. -
What's your favorite John Allen coaster?

^^ Ahh I was just wondering if you meant the JA Skyliner that was in Nashville. ^ I love LW's Cannonball too but have never experienced a whole lot of air on it...just mild moments. It is certainly a fun ride though and still running great. -

What's your favorite John Allen coaster?
thrillerman1 replied to ComfyNAD's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Starliner at Miracle Strip...not Allen's biggest, fastest, whatever, but I always had such a blast on it. The dragon tunnel with the hidden, insane, ejector onto the seat divider air was always a favorite and still ranks as one of my top 10 fav airtime moments! I never got to ride it once it was relocated to CG, so I can't vouch for how it rode there. My earliest memory of seeing a John Allen coaster was at Fair Park (aka Cumberland Park) in Nashville when my older sisters got to ride Skyliner. Unfortunately, I was too little and intimidated by big wooden coasters then. It sure was amazing to watch them ride it from the sidelines though. Skyliner is not very well documented on the internet if at all, so I would love to see any photos of it if anyone has any. -
Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread

I don't mind the name although it reminds me of all those trendy 90's rock bands with numbers in their names. I don't get the comparisons to MF (other than this is going to be at a CF park). I am much more reminded of Kawasemi or Piraten. After riding Piraten on the TPR Scandi trip this summer and graying out almost everytime after the first drop and curve combo, I can't imagine how I305 is going to feel! This one may require a nurse in the station ala Traver's CB Cyclone. -

Here's another postcard for all you TPR West Coast trippers...this time at DCA. I just love how California Screamin' feels so Schwarzkopfy! Best steel in California? I could be wrong, but I believe something is amiss about this view now. What is it? Hmmmm. -

Efteling Discussion Thread

I think this announcement by Efteling kinda flew by maybe a little unnoticed with the Kennywood and Holiday World announcements this week too, but a new GCI racing coaster with theming sounds really great to me. I personally can't wait to see how this one turns out! -
Great trip report and photos from Cowabunga, dude (hehe)! I believe the big man has surpassed himself with this one! Thanks for sharing with us Mike! Also, I have to say Shane has really outdone himself with the Bay. It looks absolutely stellar! I love all the extra hidden touches and nods to his kids. Thus, I hereby proclaim Shane is the new Walt!

I didn't get to watch the whole announcement, but is the dry side of the park receiving anything next year? -

I have really liked the Premier launcher coasters I've ridden especially Mr. Freeze. Sounds cool to me!
