The reason why the news is saying that he tried to get his hat is to make him sound as a less-stupid person. I kinda think that the family tried to make up that story to make him sound as a innocent kid just going to get his hat. I still think the first version of the story is more accurate since it said that he was coming back to the park and was outside the park fence.

Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread

^ I'm talking about the one behind Wildcat. That one was there for awhile. I don't thinking anything is happening to the arena. I heard they still use it a practice, public skating, conventions and other stuff. -

Actually they still do have a lot of space to work with and a few possibilities. -Build in the employee lot on the other side of Wildcat. They'd only would need to remove a catering area. By doing this would give them unlimited land to use since the parking lot is HUGE. -Create a tunnel going under Park Avenue and build over in the old golf course. This is also a huge chunk of land which could support a new area. Even though what they may plan to add next year seems small, I can really imagine the park getting really creative with this just because this will be part of the Boardwalk. -

Wow. For some reason that look very errie and strange. It's hard to imagine that the field used to be home to a great theme park. -

It doesn't really mean anything. It just means that Honda is a sponsor for the park and to add to the theme, they just wanted to show off one of those jet skis. Here's a pic of the display that you're talking about. http://www.coasterfanatics.com/photos/7328a03fddcad7ba5edb7630aff6e547.jpg -

A lazy river would be a good addition to the park, but they should add a lot of different water features to it. I went to Dorney a year or two ago and theirs called Wild Water River or something was great. They had tunnels, waterfalls and a bunch of other stuff. Or they could go the extra yard and do something similar to Water Country's Hubba Bubba Highway. Don't forget about another slide for Coastline Plunge. I was also thinking the samething about them possibly removing Tidal Force. Six Flags removed one or tow of theirs for a new attraction, so could HP remove theirs? Even if it is built in around The Boardwalk, it would be a prime spot for a wave pool. I did some searching to see what companies would design a wave pool and lazy river and one company kind of stuck out. http://www.whitewaterwest.com/index.php The same company that built East Coast Waterworks also makes Wave pools and lazy rivers. It also seems like the also worked with Disney to build their wave pool at Typhoon Lagoon. If this is the company that plans on working with the park, then I'd expect something very detailed and heavily themed. -

Great TR. Looks like I should get down there again. The last time I was there was in 2000. -

^If they are planning on getting rid of it that probably why. Wave Pools and Lazy Rivers don't really have a set capacity amount. It is just a walk-on attraction with no queue lines. -

I'd expect it to be long. I'm guessing maybe at least 20 to 30 minutes up to maybe an hour. 7 more days until the announcement. -
Knott's Sky Tower gets stuck
Ccron10 replied to winningfreak's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Don't the Sky Tower have a secret door that can lead into the tower? The Kissing Tower at Hershey has a seat in front of the control panel that removes and it has a secret door to lead into the center of the tower. But if the tower broke down at the wrong place then that could be a problem. -
Hersheypark Announces Fahrenheit!
Ccron10 replied to Meteornotes's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Stucky, Norm and Scratch? How did they come up with the names and what do they have to do with Fahrenheit? I wonder if it would be possible that the trains were each made to give each one a different riding experience? -
I did some work on the Fahrenheit part of the set and got a few station pieces done. -Wooden Roof Support Beams -Station Roof -Large Fahrenheit sign The rest of the items are pieces from other sets. I still need to make exit stairs, but besides that, all the station scenery is completed. Comments Please! The track is going to be CS, but this is what the station looks like. The roof support beams and roof pieces.

Hersheypark 2011 [RCT3]
Ccron10 replied to Ccron10's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
I've hit a little snag with building Storm Runner that I just discovered. The angle of the cobra roll that's possible to build on the Hershey's Stormrunner coaster would send the track heading straight into Comet Hollow when it should graze Minetown a little. This means that Storm Runner will all be CS making it a non-working ride. This also means that I will need to make the pieces, so don't expect another update until I get the CS set finished, but don't worry, I plan on working hard with the set. -
My drawing of Hersheypark
Ccron10 replied to HPCrazy's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
No, he has alot of talent, devotion and enjoys drawing. When you like doing something, you find time to do it. I hate it when people say stuff along the lines of what you said. Makes it look like he just belched out a drawing because he was bored and there was nothing good on TV. I agree. This is the same thing with my RCT parks. I don't spend the whole day working on them and I usually am busy for most of the day. Matt puts a lot of time and effort into his drawings because he likes to do it. -
I just recently got an email from the park with a link for a new site that Hersheypark plans to use. Hersheypark Mobile is a special site for guests to use at the park (and for us theme park fanatics at home) to find out which rides are closed, entertainment showtimes, and tips on when to ride the park's top rides. IMO the site could use a little more work and Fahrenheit still needs to be added to the top rides list. I think this would be a cool feature to use if the guests know about it and want to use it, so I guess the park has Wi-Fi? http://www.hersheypark.com/mobile/index.php

Hershey's Grand Adventure
Ccron10 replied to Ccron10's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
May 2010 Today is the opening on Hershey's Grand Adventure's first major roller coaster! Thunder Express. The story goes that in the middle of a large forest is an abandoned railway the sat vacant for ages. You discover it and find an old locomotive and decide to ride it even though it doesn't look safe. All of a sudden on a long stretch of track, the locomotive launches foreward unexpectedly up to speeds around 60 mph. Will you survive? You'd have to ride it to find out! While I was waiting in line I found a fact sheet. I didn't get a picture of it, but here's what it said: IMO the ride was awesome! The launch wasn't very forceful, it was smooth and was themed nicely. The only problem is that the rest of the ride needs more trees. But that will come probably once the park expands more. I haven't heard any rumors on what's coming in 2011, but my guess is that it's not going to be very much. Thunder Express ends by going into the sloping brake run. Comments Please! Needs more trees though. The area is starting to get more feel to it. Express's first drop goes over the path leading to RoboCoaster. The launch area, queue house, and transfer building. The ride's exit plaza looks great. This area is starting to get a theme to it. On opening day, the coaster's entrance looks a tad different from last time I was here. There's the new station! A new sign has appeared over the entrance. They had most of the track done and were already testing. In March, a lot of work still had to be done. -

http://abclocal.go.com/wpvi/story?section=news/local&id=6207773 At 1:30 AM a fire breaks out and burns the Super Skooter, Mini Skooter, and Seal Flume kiddie ride are lost. 3 weeks ago another fire was reported and police are checking to see if this has any relation to it. 97% of the Mariner's Landing Pier has been unaffected. It's a good thing that it wasn't worse. -
Hershey's Grand Adventure
Ccron10 replied to Ccron10's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
May 2008 Opening Day Today was the official opening of Hershey's Grand Adventure and it was a day with a decent amount of people who decided to show up. As soon as the gates opened, most of the people made a mad dash to the Little Dipper or Resse's 500. The line filled up quickly for Little Dipper and remained full through out the day. I headed straight to the back of the park to ride Sky Screamer and was able to get re-rides. It turned out that it was one of the most successful days the park has had in a long time. ____________________________________________________________ August 2008 Well, it's one of those dog days of summer at Grand Adventure. The line for Old Mill was long and the park offered free water to it's guests. The lines were decent for the park's other rides, but Sky Screamer's was long and had incredibley terrible dispatch times. Construction fences have gone up next to Thrillshot and digging has begun. _____________________________________________________________ October 2008 2009 Attraction Press Release _____________________________________________________________ Memorial Day 2009 RoboCoaster's Opening RoboCoaster can only be described in one word. Wow. I have never rode a ride so wild as this one and the way the park themed it made it fit perfectly. It has it's own midway and along it are really cool flags advertising the ride. On a sad note, Sky Scraper has been removed. I came by the park earlier in the year and an employee let me take a look around. They boarded up the entrance by this time and the ride was still standing. In May, the whole ride was gone, a construction fence has gone up and some strange footers have appeared. I wonder what the park has in store for 2010? The footers have appeared! Let the rumors begin! Comments Please! SKy Scraper's entrance has been boarded up. seems like they're going to re-use it. This is one of my favorite pics of the park so far. Sad to see this go. But I guess it needs to. The Ad banners look awesome! May 2008. RoboCoaster's entrance really fits the ride's look. The construction fence has gone up. This was taken earlier in the season. It seems the park quickly added on to Little Dipper's queue line. I don't have a pic of it though. Reese's 500 seems to be a big hit. The brand new park entrance looks awesome! -
Wow. So that's what the queue line looks like. They should cover it more and get better queue railings like the ones over at Storm Runner. I have that same black FH t-shirt! I got it back during STITP and it seems like they got more merchandise.

Hersheypark Announces Fahrenheit!

Here's something new that I found out about the trains. My friend was at the park on Sunday and he got a lot of great pics. In one of them, I found out that the trains are named. On the train pictured below, it is named Fincky. This gets me wondering what the other trains are called? Photo by HPCrazy at c-net. -
Hershey's Grand Adventure
Ccron10 replied to Ccron10's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
March 2008 Greetings! Something sweet is happening in rural Berks County. Just last year, Hersheypark-owner, HERCO bought Maple Grove Entertainment park from a local family and plans to improve it. It's location sits in the middle of a big, flat, open field which makes it have the ability to build and try things that couldn't be possible at Hersheypark. Not a lot is going to be new for it's official opening season execpt for a new park entrance and amptheatre. Last year they added a greatly detailed log flume, but it seems out of place. looks like a laser and fireworks show will be added eventually. More Soon! Comments please! The stage and seating area for the amptheatre is completed, but the park entrance hasn't been built yet. This is going to look like a lot of fun once it opens. The ride does stick out a little from the rest of the park, but over years, it should fit in well. Tucked in the back corner of the park is the Old Mill River Falls log flume. This is the first step the company took to revive the park and add style to it. The Little Dipper may look like a kiddie coaster, but adults are even allowed to ride! Welcome to HERCO's new theme park! -

Wow. It does make me wonder what's the future of these rides. I wonder if stronger cable would help or if they added these sensors to the older models. That's if they don't have them added already. -
Hersheypark Announces Fahrenheit!
Ccron10 replied to Meteornotes's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^^IMO Sidewinder is probably the most forceful coaster at the park next to Storm Runner. If you have nobody in the train and if you sit in the front, it's a really great ride when you go through the loop then. Almost got a headache riding it two times in a row, but I don't mind it. I'm immune to pain. -
