  1. So that's the single riders line? Great TR and pics.
  2. It could go down to South America too which would be the worst-case scenario since there are tons of them down there.
  3. I really have no opinion on the park planning on removing the Laser, it's one of the only bigger coasters that I haven't ridden yet (besides Wild Mouse). I might get there this summer, so I might be able to get my first and last ride on it.
  4. http://www.hersheypark.com/fahrenheit/index.php Videos 5-7 are up with POV action! Enjoy.
  5. If you're talking about me, my last post here was going to be a little harsher, but since he posted before me, I edited it. I don't support him in any way for what he's done. In fact it got me ashamed of him. Most of us have visited the park at least once and left it feeling good on how well it's mantained. But this TR seemed like it only focused on the bad thing about the park on FH's opening day and that was just 1 thing only: Fahrenheit valleying.
  6. That's pretty cool. It also seems to be a big hit. I can't wait to ride it (like I said for the 500th time).
  7. I have around 5 to 10 shirts, but I've been cutting back on wearing them. Hersheypark 2000 shirt that's kinda childish. Hersheypark 2004- The 4 to fear that doesn't include SR. Knoebels 2003- Eagle t-shirt Knoebels 2006- Coaster Glow in dark shirt Knoebels 2003-Phoenix T-shirt Knoebels 2006 Twister shirt Glows in the dark Dorneypark 2006 Fear the 5 shirt Hersheypark 2008 Fahrenheit t-shirt ( Found this one at STITP) I may have more. I don't wear any of them to school execpt for the FH t-shirt.
  8. We weren't bashing you, we were just expressing our true opinions on your TR. Wait a minute. You first said that you wished someone would sue the park and now you say this? I'm sorry, but what came off of your first post was that you just hated your trip and you didn't seem to be joking.
  9. I'm sorry, but I have to say it. They actually did a good job with the line, besides, you still would've had to wait there since the Nantimi people would've had to get their rides in. I really can't believe that you were so desprate to wait 7 hours for FH to open when you could've ridden other rides in the park. You still would've been able to get your FH ride on later. Why are you complaining? The park gave you front of the line passes and you're still saying how bad the park is! *getting off my soapbox* -Chris
  10. Wow! Great Trip Report! I can't wait to see the pics! IMO I think the park really handled Saturday well for what's been going on. I can't imagine how much stress has been going through the maintenance staff.
  11. To honor Fahrenheit's opening (or not) I'm am announcing my 2nd set. This set will not be a working ride, but once this set is completed, you'll be able to build your own Fahrenheit or Maverick-style coaster for your own park. This set will come with supports, track pieces, station items and a few track pieces designed by me that have never been built on an Intamin-style coaster. I plan on making other coaster types in the future, but this will be the first one. Here are a few examples of what will be included so far: -vertical lift track piece -slanted brake fins, -corkscrews -transfer tracks -dual loading station pieces -on-ride photo equipment and a lot more. So far only a straight section of track has been made and the track pieces should be able to cover the Hershey's Storm Runner track. Stay tuned for more coming soon. The colors still need to be fixed. I'm playing around with that now.
  12. Some breaking news for you guys. Appearently according to a member who is at the park today said that during testing today, Fahrenheit valleyed in the cobra roll and the opening didn't really happen today. If this is true, then this is a bad day for the park and the ride. Hopefully everything will be corrected by next week.
  13. Here's a look back at all that has happened up to tomorrow's opening. Part 1 includes the rumors up to the announcement. Part 2 will have everything from the construction up to it's opening. Enjoy! Fahrenheit: The Ride that Heated Up the Coaster Industry (Pt. 1) 4 years after Hersheypark announces their new coaster, Fahrenheit, the world’s steepest coaster gets ready to invade the park and make its mark as one of the best coasters for 2008. A year earlier Maverick, it’s sister coaster opens at The Roller Coaster Capital of the World and became a worldwide hit as being named as the World’s Best New Ride for 2007 by Amusement Today Magazine. But will Fahrenheit carry on that title for 2008? You are about to find out what it took to get to today’s opening from the first rumor, to the Nantimi Campaign, all the way up to opening day. -Rumor Roulette- Since the park already added a new $20 million dollar waterpark for the 2007 season, most of the coaster enthusiast community figured the park won’t anything big for the 2008 season. It was considered either a few new water rides will be added for the Boardwalk or a new flat ride or kiddie ride. But there were a few coaster rumors flying around; screams cape.com, some saying of a new spinning wild mouse coaster going in the space near Sidewinder or where Western Chute Out is, a new B&M going at the Aquatheater’s spot or starting at Western Chute Out and flying over Canyon River Rapids, but those were either new rumors or impossible to happen. During July 2007, some interesting surveying markers have been popping up around the park from the area around Chute Out, over to the Claw, around Canyon River Rapids and even out to Minetown. This made the fore sighting even harder since it was a gigantic space for a coaster or ride and the markers were each a different type, but we soon found out that next year’s project was going to be bigger than we imagined and keep us guessing for more. -The Flame is Ignited… The first hint of Hersheypark’s new coaster came from the park’s announcement saying, “What’s Better Than A Perfect 10?” in August 2007. On a past article from the park announcing Storm Runner they said that it brought the coaster count up to a perfect 10. This kind of “kicked the enthusiast hive” and got us ready for the 2008 season. But there was some confusion regarding this; did it mean an 11 inversion coaster or the park’s 11th coaster? Soon after this announcement, a banner was put up on Chute Out’s Slide Tower saying, “Hersheypark 2008, Wait time from this point: approximately 10 months.” Usually only coasters have signs saying the queue time, but the “H” in Hersheypark looked like it was either an arrow or thermometer. On August 21, 2007, the Coaster Community discovered something so controversial that it kept everyone guessing for over 1 month. -The Nantimi Initiative Nantimi.com was a website that possed as a publishing company that was going to help design the webpage for the new $12.1 million attraction. The company was actually an anagram for the coaster company, Intamin. Coaster fans immediately wrote the site off as a fake or a site created by a insane Hersheypark fan boy. After a little investigating, the website actually wasn’t located in Harrisburg Pa. But at a farm just outside of Annville Pa. But some things weren’t adding up. The client login one day had the password and username already added in. Inside was 3 logos referring to a ride named Tsunami and a letter written by a person named Luke to Kate (a.k.a. Public Relations Kate Burrows) about the logo and Boardwalk tie-in. As days went by, we started to learn more news about the company’ “news” of working with the park. Almost each update brought along a new hint to the new ride from its color, to a blurry layout, and an early release date. As September 27 came closer, the teaser on Hersheypark’s website was updated to say, “It’s a BURNING question . . . one that's just TOO HOT TO HANDLE. We've been getting the third-DEGREE about our plans, and some people think we have COLD feet about announcing them to the world. But now it's time to EXTINGUISH all the rumors. Check back here for HOT news to share on Thursday, September 27 at noon (the hottest part of the day, of course!). But to top it all off, a guy named Donan Michael (part of Nantimi) sent out puzzle pieces to 11 coaster fans on various coaster fansites. When they were all assembled, it gave a clear understanding that this will be not a normal coaster. A few days later, the big day came. At about 45 minutes to midnight, the 11 people who got the puzzle pieces were treated to a preview of the brand new coaster, Fahrenheit. But the next question was how will it be built and when will it start to be built? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Part 2 coming tomorrow. -Chris
  14. I think kids get out of school sometime during May in the south. I might also get to go to SFOG if I'm lucky. My dad's company is based down there and he may have to go down there soon to pick up something. If so, then I plan to go with him and try to talk him into a side trip to go there. I have never been to a SF park (beleive it or not), so if this happens, it will probably be a unique experience for me. Seems like a lot of your info will help me big time. *keeping my fingers crossed*
  15. Even though it seems like it doesn't have the amazing night effects that Storm Runner has, it still looks great.
  16. ^^I agree to that. Knoebels' staff is excellent and the queue time on all their rides are fast. Hersheypark is also great. For how often I go to the park, I never had a visit I didn't like. All of the staff is kind and curtious and sometimes you could strike up a conversation with them. A long time ago I was riding the Kissing Tower and the guy operating the ride quizzed me on the park and I asked him questions. Even though dispatches can be a pain, the wait isn't that bad.
  17. I don't know. It seems 50/50. They opened it monday, but it wouldn't suprise me if they keep it closed until Saturday. The webcam shows that the crane back and is near the first drop. If nobody saw any trains cycling today, then I'd bet that it'll be closed tomorrow tomorrow and friday.
  18. I'd be taking a bet that if this keeps up, the coaster will come down in a year or two.
  19. What ticks me off is that the employees have been hearing wierd sounds coming from the ride all day. And yet they still opened up the ride and kept it running!
  20. That article is a great find. Sometime this week i plan on typing up a review of the rumor, planning, and construction process up to the opening. Just like I did last year for the Boardwalk. This way we'll be able to see what happened to get to this point in time. ____________________________________________________________ EDIT: May 19, 2008 The new 2008 park map is up. http://www.hersheypark.com/map/images/08_map_large.jpg Looks like they did another Storm Runner job. Here's the details I've found: -The FH looks really small. - The cobra roll is supposed to be between TF catering's path and WC catering. -the norweigion loop is deformed and at the wrong place. -The cobra roll is very deformed and looks nothing like the real thing. -the corkscrews look like barrel rolls. -Where's the station? -CRR catering's path still travels the wrong way to the pavilions. also some things I've noticed around the map: -They only enlarged Mini Himalaya and copied it to call it the Howler. -Planet Pepsi. Is it kind of like the World of Coca Cola on a smaller scale or just a basic drinks building? -Dippin' Dots Sundae Shop!!!! I just heard about this and I heard that they opened up stores in strip malls selling that stuff and it sounds pretty good. I think this will be successful. -Kiss Korner. Sounds like the character meet-and-greet place is being moved over to Minetown. -Fun in the Sun Shop? Seems like the Hershey's Sports shop is gone. -Dunkin' Donuts and Beachology have been added to the map. The park really needs to remake the map.
  21. Mixing it Up in Music Box.... Construction of Music Box Way can be tough, but if you know what you're doing and think it out, it can be simple. Building Reese's Xtreme Cup Challenge was a prime example of that. If I build it the wrong way, it could affect the whole area. So far the Music Box Theatre was built and the foundation of The Claw has been built. Tiny Timber had to be made into a river rapids ride so it can go around tight turns. Stay Tuned for Pioneer Frontier, Minetown construction, and a little suprise coming soon! Comments Please! Stay Tuned for more! Fender Bender, Tiny Timbers and the foundation for Music Box Theatre. RXCC without the building. Music Box Way in Stage 1
  22. The webcam is back up and running. http://www.hersheypark.com/fahrenheit/index.php Not much new though.
  23. We have some new rumors fresh from the screamscape site: This seems very likely since the area around the slides has empty footers and unused supports.
  24. Great TR. In my opinion I think that Knoebels could do better than that cheesy carnival ride-type Wipeout. I thought it would look more permanent.
