  1. Hey everybody! This thread is simple! Rather than having a million little threads about everything that goes on at Walt Disney World's Disney's Hollywood Studios, this thread is designed to consolidate it all into one user-friendly thread. Feel free to use it to post updates, trip reports, questions, comments, and of course, general discussion. For pictures and videos of the park as well as past updates, see TPR's Park Index Page. Official Park Website Below are some links to past updates from the park, you may be interested in. Its from the testing of Lights, Motors, Action, Extreme Stunt Show (Disneyland Paris Import) yesterday: Unlike Soarin, I have not had the privilege of seeing the original. From the shots (more at www.MKT3000.com) Cool looking shot!
  2. Here are those sexy costumes I was talking about:
  3. S P O I L E R S Well, I hope its open for you, me, I've got to get to the testing of MGM's LMA tomorrow afternoon. Everything is pretty much in place. Smells? That was one thing I was going to mention. The smells are considerably stronger (but not too strong). So strong in fact that out in the holding area (DCA -- final slope of the ramp before you get split up into the three gate zones) you could smell them a bit. During the ride -- the orange is far more 'citrus'...the woodsy was about the same and the Malibu Ocean scene was unique smelling, or they opted for a different effect (I have no idea what it is). At one point, the citrus came on too early actually lol. But just by a bit. Its such a class act that ride now with its que area. You'll flip out if you saw DCA. You know TOT DCA MGM comparison that some people make? This will be another, except the disparity will be huge. But its a good thing. DCA is great on its own -- WDW just classes it all up a notch. There are Fastpasses btw just in case people were wondering. Outfits are different. Its a whole 'airport theme'...but imagine John Wayne Airport with the newest reno of MCO (blue glass). Seriously -- so slick. I know there has been talk of doing a different movie -- and it sure looks like they could do it. The main cue area (large open air area in front of the two 'concourses') has these HUGE posters of four climate zones with a flat screen below them posting facts and questions. Perhaps we'll get a global Soarin experience? That would be so sweet. Yah, this ride has the whole Airport theme going on -- but think 'executive' style, 'classy'. Very John Wayne and MCO (airports nearest to American parks). What else -- a larger boarder on the screen. Still using the film style projection == with that dot in the beginning lol. nothing digital. Lights are purple on the screen (so important I know). Seats the same, the Movie -- o.k. intro film: on Flat Screens in Widescreen (all panels are wide screen). Patrick does a unique intro (in front of the new Soarin sign -- unless its a digital edit -- but I doubt it since I heard he was out here recently), but I swear it cuts back into the old footage when they talk about 'these little beauties'. That 'nice job kid' hasn't aged a day. There is a spanish voice over in the beginning...and at the end Patrick talks about the rest of your day at EPCOT. Gosh, wish I had my camera -- but you'll all have to come and visit! If there is anything more I think off, I'll do what I can to post.
  4. You will be blown away.
  5. Testing! Can you believe how lucky I was? It was a rare time I rode the monorail at Epcot and saw an unusually long line by the restroom area at Journey. I heard that they had been doing something since the weekend and guessed it would be that area they would load. Real, the original is fun, been on it a dozen times or so. This is a step up in terms of que/entry to the attraction. Very minor differences inside.
  6. Those of you who enjoy WDW and DL will be happy with the new ride. The cast member said it will open officially May 5 and they have been testing it with the public this week. No pictures sorry, but I REALLY liked the entry/que area. Anyone else been on it yet?
  7. I rode an extra time on Crush N Gusher in your honor. Happy B-Day

  9. Jeez, that guy looks a little uptight. If he is as intense as he looks -- watch that company TANK.
  10. Well -- look at it this way: some people (like myself) don't like it because it is intense. Now, I can 'handle' it...as in, I've been on it several times and appreciate the unique (4 g) experience, but I don't go to a Disney theme park to experience something intense, or strap myself in a sophisticated machine -- I go to a Disney park to be entertained. There are more layers to entertainment than just 'intensity'. Mission Space doesn't suspend a lot of disbelief. Little to no effort was applied to make you believe you are leaving the planet. I mean, for goodness sake, you see the simulator in all its mechanical parts. (another example DCA TOT -- that walkway between basement and elevator) Motivation plays a factor here. An intense ride just doesn't cater to the masses like an entertaining dark ride does (or even a heavily themed family coaster a la Big Thunder or Space). You mentioned responsibility -- that's a two way street. Many people feel its irresponsible to spend 100 million on an attraction which leaves out many people. Some of these folks are either pregnant, the elderly, those with back problems and trouble in confined spaces (that's quite a list!)
  11. Well, since I'm arguing with you privately in personal messages (and now publicly), I'd say you are no better than anyone else, and like everyone else -- do both. Razoredge -- you start fights - believe me! (by criticizing or being so arrogant as to 'warn' people, you expect no recourse?!! lol) Its actually about LOVE AND respect and about starting and finishing arguments -- its 'about' everything. Gawd, if you generalize, at least be general, and NOT specific!
  12. O.k. now I want to get pictures for y'all. The ol, arm over the fence. The reality is entertainers are a dying bread. And entertaining attractions are a dying breed at WDW as well.
  13. Look at all those badges.
  14. Since I started this topic, let me get it back on track. 1st off: this doesn't have to be a serious religion discussion. Do you worship at the church of Intamin etc? Church of Disney? Six Flags? 2nd) Refrain from commenting on your quality of experience with a different group etc. (Vekoma lovers are real losers) etc. Every community has its strong and weak points. Everyone has a sob story, we don't need to hear yours! Love to all, Jose "let me do your hair" Eber
  15. SPOILER ALERT!! I can't believe Constantine made it. Ralph.
  16. I also forgot Disneyland's salads at that Pizza Rocket place in Tomorrow-land. Their spaghetti is good too (kids portion).
  17. "Caw! They don't take tickets! To get in, try and kiss someone's ass!"
  18. They used balloons for TOT DCA. Actually, I saw some balloons down the street a few weeks ago...
  19. Man, I don't even want to begin to tell you how I feel about that statement. Anywho, some of the most critical and mean people I've met are gay. So Nemesis20 don't be all 'you have to be gay to understand acceptance'. That is such a load of crap. Gay people aren't anymore accepting than heterosexual folk. Some of the most intolerant people are gay, ever seen Queer Eye? Leave those poor straight men alone! Anyway. For me, a great religion or faith or what have you is deliberately broad enough to accept everyone: the 'haters' and the 'lovers', the hypocrites and the real. Look at the Catholic church -- you have your Mother Theresa and you have your active pedophile priest. I love that. Its so broad and accepting. If you can't accept everyone, including those who exclude (homophobes' racists etc.) you really don't love. You just love your own kind, and that's easy. Everyone does that. Anyway how kind is to just love your own kind? That's my Dr. Phil-ism for the day. Had to get that off my sexy, hairy chest, Jose 'tired of the gay perfection complex' Eber
  20. O.k. I'm very opinionated and passionate about this subject because I have nothing better to do with my life. Generally, as far as attractions go, the later they were made, the worse they get imo. That's just a really fair rule I have. So, in terms of parks, I obviously hate AK with a 'passion' (said in latino accent a la univision soap opera). Stitch is the latest attraction, but because its in MK it doesn't completely go to the bottom of the list. MK has some saving graces to it. But, a bad attraction at a bad park really does wonders. I'm not going to even rail at Primeval Whirl -- such an easy target....I'm going to argue that "Dinosaur: Ride it!" is the worst ride: here's why. Its not the least bit entertaining, but instead, very intense (my ears are going to bleed, and I'm actually scared of the attraction) and focuses on someone who doesn't do their job (that you've been stuck with -- great). If I ever meet Joe Rohde I'm going to pull him aside and write down something on his arm "shame (does not equal) entertain" Talking down to your audience in moralized tones (see Kali River Rapids, and pretty much any other AK attraction) is just downright idiotic. Those of you who've mentioned the boat ride at Mexico's pavillion -- he designed that too (I've been told). So, without getting too personal here, I just don't like Dinosaur -- its way to intense, is not funny or entertaining in the least bit. Its dark most of the time and you can't see crap except the occasional scary arse dinosaur with music and sound that is dangerously loud (that can be said for almost all new attractions -- WAY TOO LOUD!) Jose
  21. There are quite a few companies that do 'water coasters'. I can think of at least three off the top of my head Jose "IAAPA is very informative" Eber
  22. I also hear that Mythos at IOA is really good. Had one meal there. For a theme park - it wasn't half bad. Better than any large meal at a Disney Park (aside from Buffet). BUT my favorite in park meal still has to go to PINOCCHIO'S VILLAGE HAUS (sorry about all caps, cut and pasted that). Their Figaro Fries are the bomb. Its the only thing I can get that resembles Animal Style Fries from In and Out over here on the East coast. Oh, I want one right now, and I was just at MK a bit ago. ****** I just read over my post and forgot about a relatively new find at MGM -- Starring Rolls Bakery -- have had the salmon bagel plate and Veggie Pita, it rocks. OH and also -- Anything (it seems) at the Norway Pavillion Bakery. "Kringla og Bakeri" even the egg and salmon sandwich is good. My wife loves this huge a$$ roll they have that's filled with custard, and the rice cream with strawberries reminds me of my grandmothers rice pudding... All for now ( I think). Oh, at AK -- they have some nice corn on the cob and ribs at this little counter place where you can eat off the water (facing EE) and there is this counter restaurant near the entrance that isn't too bad.
