  1. Well God bless the poster and this site for upholding high standards of conduct in ethic laden situations! Seriously now...how fair is it to cheat the system. Aren't you really just cheating yourself? Let's be a bit more ethical-- I don't go around telling folks how to get free parking at MK and EPCOT at WDW. Let's keep these secrets to ourselves. Jose 'recently stopped hoarding fastpasses at WDW parks' Eber edit: nice avatar
  2. To be honest? No, it really hasn't changed much from that. I was a little disappointed with the artwork and theming. I would have LOVED a mountain. But that get's prob. very expensive and hard to rationalize. One good thing: (or impressive thing) vegetation. They spent a LOT of money on that. Every tree you see in the 'LEFT picture' is transplanted. That whole site was razed (again, see my mini site) It was crazy all the plants they brought in. There are three slides and it looks like you walk to the top and that's where the slide starts...I was hoping you'd rocket up but...whateva. I'm just glad we got a Water Coaster and I'm glad choosing between BB and TL will be hard now. Awesome position to be in this summer.
  3. First off...if you are needing advice -- you don't know what you want. I can't figure out what's scarier -- not knowing what you like or someone recommending Old Town. There was a murder there last week. O.k. I'm being dramatic (but truthful). But you really should figure out what you want. Can you really go wrong by visiting Central Florida? No. You can't make a mistake (well, visiting Gatorland would be a mistake imo -- sorry folks on the board pro Gatorland). As a kid, my parents took two weeks to do Disney World alone (and that was with just two parks, Discovery Island and River Country back in 88 ). Anywho. I have no idea where you are on the scale of Coaster Whore to Theme Park Whore. So I can't really advise anything, other than to remind you, some places have been the scenes of serious crime recently. Have fun!
  4. Well for now, to look at construction progress (up till a month ago) look at my signature or www for the page. Selected images were featured on Mouseplanet and Screamscape. Here is a sample: Until Sunday,
  5. What coaster you want to ride? that you haven't been on? or... Here's two: Sheikra Kraken
  6. Just testing the waters (pun not entirely intended). Is it worth posting photos of Crush N Gusher completed (March 13)? J.
  7. Oh do I miss those! (at least Salt and Vinegar have become more common). Ex Canuck, Jose
  8. It should be interesting to see what its like complete. Personally, if I had the time, I would set up a site with QTVR's with hot spots. That's how a lot of these virtual tour web pages set things up. When you can't look down main street and can only go left right -- a little hard to navigate, even for someone that lives just down the street. Had no idea what was going on. J.
  9. A little too good there Real. I think I'd wet my pants after the first loop.
  10. I was a little surprised at Aloha's dismissal today.
  11. You want to hear a funny story? My my oldest brother (like myself) was raised Mennonite (Brethren), guess who teaches theology now at Notre Dame? lol. What goes around comes around? From an 'ex-Mennonite' position, I can understand them shunning you. Its totally lame and not kind in the least bit but, there you have it. Mennonites and Amish can be real a$$holes (from personal experience). Jose 'move to South Bend' Eber.
  12. For some reason I've watched every episode this season (my wife loves this show). No favorites ... although the quasi latino song sung that got this guy kicked off? I was like -- I liked his choice of music. oh well.
  13. Maybe? Game is called yes or no... Also -- 20th anniversary? Try 50th. No, Disneyland's 50th anniversary will not be a success. Will Sheikra rock on as a double 'diver'?
  14. Yes. Will expedition everest suck a$$ like other recently created disney attractions?
  15. That 'R.A. worship' thread was kinda scary -- but let's put a twist on it. What's your religion, if you have any? It doesn't have to be serious...or legitimate. For example, I'll start. I worship the gods of art and technology called 'Bang and Olufsen' and 'Apple' I guess my house of worship is WDW? Who's next?
  16. I think comparisons are unfair but I did vote for WDW (because I'm unfair). Now, I live I guess on what used to be WDW property (or still is?) so, that might explain that. But here are my observations of having lived here for nearly a year and having visited WDW just as many times as I've visited DLR over my few years in So. Cal. PARKING: I like the parking at DL. For some reason, finding a sweet spot at Downtown Disney and taking a nice walk is a whole lot cooler than parking at Main M.K parking lot or the Wedding pavilion and taking Grand Floridians' Monorail over. I think the whole parking structure/tram/park front door is awesome and is something MK or pretty much any park at WDW lacks. Perhaps I need to get a Disney Dining Card, valet for free at GF and do that. But then I have to buy a meal. Epcot I have my secret. But what about MGM or A.K (which I've been too like 2 x -- that park is not the least bit entertaining). I think the whole Parking Structure (never been to Disneyland before that) thing is awesome...and I'd love to see DisneyWorld do that down the road (20 years) with a sweet Mega Wide Maglev taking you door to front door to all the 3 parks (And downtown Celebration). DOWNTOWN DISNEY: Funny we are talking about 'ghetto' factor here. True, Disneyland's crowds can be 'local'. But I think Downtown Disney Orlando is GHETTO central. I like the architecture better at DD DLR with the whole density thing going on and with some nice (classy) restaurants there. We don't have classy restaurants at DD Orlando. And the best hotel nearby is, well...what that DVC place Saratoga what now? If I don't like the restaurants at DD DLR, I have a whole lot to choose from at GCali or just walk into DCA from there too and check out (what used to be) their great restaurants. I seriously don't feel too safe here at DD Orlando. I was accosted by a drunk guest while buying a ticket to La Nouba, I won't say more. GHETTO! So I like the Downtown Disney at DLR better, even though its smaller. Its also got a Monorail (although that can get busy beyond considering it for use) and a delux hotel nearby. Do you all want our Pleasure Island too? Not a favorite destination of mine, and I hate being forced to walk through that place to get to the old Downtown Disney (which is actually pretty cool). That place need serious refurb. MAGIC KINGDOM VS. MAGIC KINGDOM I don't want to spend too much time on this debate but, its true, DL is more dense with attractions. BUT that works against it too -- can get very tight with Fantasmic in the evenings (Fantasmic here sucks btw imo)...(I was in Adventureland today by Alladins carpet ride -- too tight there too actually). I personally like how quaint it is at DLR. And I do miss that -- at times. We have no New Orleans, but A) Our Space is open and B) is the original, and kicks Disneyland's but. That said. I still like Splash at Disneyland better and HM (although I like the building of HM at WDW better). Pirates is a joke here, we all know that, although our exterior theme-ing is cohesive (nothing says Pirates of the Caribbean than the Bayou of Louisiana?)--and I've yet to ride Jungle Fever Cruise here. I disagree with Jim. I think the Pooh Ride is better here. And at least Toontown Fair is open during the fireworks (it would be nice to clean that part of town up). I don't like the train ride -- you see waaay too much backstage here (under a road?!!) , oh yah, our castle kicks a$$. EPILOGUE I got tired of DL. Now I just have cheaper taxes and a larger playground? Disneyland rocks, and so does WDW -- both for different reasons -- you just can't compare, its impossible. 27000 acres vs. what...500? Sorry -- hard to do.
  17. I actually don't mind Shania -- I know she's very 'exposed' but one song in particular I enjoy off her latest album. There's always room for Stryper. J.k. " By His strypes" man, "by His strypes". I'm going to say I lean towards agreeing about U2 needing to evaluate what they are doing. I actually liked Pop - I think that's their best album and tour -- Zooropa was cool...ZooTV was interesting. But Rebel rockers at age 45+? The whole 'applying to be the best band in the world' just came off as insecure (ouch I've been watching too much Simon on 'Idol' w. wifey). I'm tired of Bono's religiosity and save the world mentality. "Save the poor while I'm worth millions"? Sorry. I don't buy that. Relieve who's debt Bono and why? Relieve mine and lower your ticket prices lol. a bitter Jose
  18. I tried doing something like that for WDW -- after about 2 hours I gave up -- hardly got anywhere...even though only half the 27000 acres are in color. ahecht -- any plans to do WDW?
  19. Looking at Photos of Johnnyupsidedown.com I realize how horrid this recreation is. I will do what I can over the next few months to continually update the track file. Here's to May 1.
  20. Since when do we expect software to be free? ?!??! Personally I think Ole could have charged $2-3 bucks for the latest 1.55 release. time = money, and the guy spends a LOT of time on no limits. Do you work for free? Cuz then I could use you. My house needs to be vacuumed. P.

    HDV

Have you guys considered using HDV? There are three cameras out there for consumers (I think) JVC makes one and Sony makes two (one for Pal). Just curious. They are getting cheaper by the day. And if you buy a mac, you get HDV editing software for free. J.
  22. I do hear you about the binder. When I travel -- I create a brochure of where I'm going with a simple photo/graphic of the leg of travel (Phoenix - Toronto, Orlando - London) etc. Its only 8.5 x 11 folded in half or three ways on white cardstock. On the cover will be very simply a few pieces of critical information. Flight number, hotel address and maybe a small graphic map and reservation codes. I can keep the home made brochure in my pocket and keep relevant currency in it as well if needed and a passport. Clean, clean clean. Once I'm done with a leg of travel, I throw the paper away, and put bills, i.d. card and / or passport into the next leg of travel 'brochure'. This way, by taking time to create a clean but simple and slick brochure for myself (they take a lot of time if I want, but take up little space when I pack), I'm almost simultaneously ingraining the details in my head and organizing the travel visually. But that's the way I operate. As per hotels. I stick to chains that I'm comfortable with and have standards across the board. Four Seasons? Safe. Hyatt? Well -- depends what level and which one...I know the brand, so i know what works for me, and what doesn't. That might not be your thing. But if you know a brand you are comfortable, and they are ubiquitous as to where you are going (and you can get points by staying at that brand...). Might be a thing to consider. I don't know. Enjoy the trip.
  23. Do you honestly think you need help with all those details delineated here? As per offering wisdom: What's the big picture of this trip? Do what you can to focus less on the details.
