"A FALLEN...and I can't get up" Rimshot please A Fallen Angel would be too obvious. Can't help you much. Although I would suggest eliminating 'a' in 'a fallen'. No help here.

There are a lot of tall people on these boards.. Whoah. I love that 6'5" woman on the boards -- awesome! I think I'll consider now getting my legs cut off and bone grafted on to them for some extra height. J.k. (anyone seen Gattaca?) I'm about 6'1" Any other sizes we should talk about? (whistles)

Anyone need No Limits help?
Jose Eber replied to Mr.Six's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Personally, I don't find No Limits difficult at all. (never been on RCTC). I'm used to doing CAD, so maybe thats why I don't find it challenging. I wish Tia would port her smoothing tools over to the MAC (platform I use this game on) but alas, she has neither the time nor resources. Good news though that RCT3 is coming out for the mac. Curious what everyone is raving about. 'love'in NL. -
'No-fly list' keeps infants off planes
Jose Eber replied to AllisonY2K's topic in Random, Random, Random
I hate flying so much. The experience is total hell for me. thought I'd try first class, so flew that to Phoenix the other week (I'll post the Trip Report later, it will solely be geared towards visiting the amazing escalators they have there . Just total crap. 0 leg room. Total joke (I've only flown international first once before which wasn't bad 10 years ago, this was a total letdown). I'm sorry, but who the hell is coming up with these airlines. Some of us are well over 6 feet. Everything is so friggen cramped. Screaming kids are the worst. I think the next time I fly, I'm doing it privately, either getting a friend to fly me or I do'nt know what's going to have to happen. 'Lord please bless me with the resources to rent a jet as I need ma space.' -
McDiet - or Why "Super Size Me" is totally stupid
Jose Eber replied to robbalvey's topic in Random, Random, Random
Fatkins. That's funny. Let's not forget the psychological element to being overweight. Read something today which sort of registered with me. Some people get dogmatic about 'finishing their plates' because it would please their parents etc. as a kid and it can stick with you through adulthood if you aren't 'aware' of it. Some people thus don't want to waste food and their bodies will absorb a lot more from the food (instead of physically waste it, like through crapping). Some call this metabolism, others call it another way your parents can eff you up. Sorry, thought it was interesting point. Personally, I love McDonalds food, a good wendy's combo meal (w. bacon) and their frosty. I'm getting into Taco Bell now. Pretty much any food is decent I imagine. I used to exercise like a whore in college. But now, there aren't any decent pools where I live. Me hates running, so I don't know what to do, I only like to swim. Oh there we go. I'll do the 'Blizzard Beach' diet and visit Blizzard Beach during the day to burn off those evil fat roles. BTW kuddos Supercrack to you and your wife. I noticed in one of your trip photos you'd trimmed up a bit. Great job. J. -
Soarin over Florida
Jose Eber replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That was actually really funny. Reminds me of that Superman I or II scene with Lex Luthor...ANYWAY. I don't know, when the war started, many audience members started cheering during the military scene at Soarin. Now though, when I was at Epcot, not so much. Although I'm not a fan of war myself, I realize there is a time for war and a time for peace. The unfortunate (for you) reality is, in San Diego, there is a very, very large military presence that you can't avoid. However, I'm not too aware of a city here in Florida that has an equally large presence of the military, so, I think reality, an aircraft carrier scene wouldn't be appropriate, but in fact a cruise-liner (without a bloodied deck outside of a honeymooner's cabin) would be more appropriate. I think the whole Florida thing will be scrapped though. It just doesn't tie in with the Que (which is awesome btw, way -- love lining up in AC!) -
Home Built Wood Coaster!
Jose Eber replied to Peis's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
German was my first language -- but that was nearly 30 years ago. Sorry, my german now is reallly rough. Here's my best effort. Junior High School student builds his own RollerCoaster Computer gameing gave David Mossmann an idea. His Familie is helping him. OffenBurg. David Mossmann dreams of curves, loopes and spirals. The student (in Offenburg) loves to ride rollercoasters -- nothing unusual for a 14 year old. But soon he doesn’t need to go to a themepark for his adrenalin rush..it will be outside his house in his self built rollercoaster. Initially, there was a common place argument between parents and their child over how each day their oldest would sit in front of their computer. Gabi, the mother would say “you shouldn’t be sitting in front of the computer so often” Probably an argument that happens in the thousands all over Germany. But what do you do when like David, your favorite free time activity is to sit in front of the monitor and play ‘Rollercoaster Designer’ [translator edit: Ultimate Ride] “Then I’ll build a real coaster” was the answer of this 14 year old. Said and done. But next again was the computer needed for help. Ultimate Ride and a tracing program calculated for David the size and curves of his coaster. After that, David installed the .9 meter long single wood ties in his Dad John’s workshop. John Mossmann was real skeptical “You’ll never get that to work” said the experienced carpenter. A sentence David quickly spurred. Three months have passed an already stands a considerable section of the coaster on a field that belongs to his aunt directly by his parents home. The coaster is to be 100 meters long and 5 meters high. Building time: a year. When the conversation turns to the technical details of his project, David Mossmann gets excited. With a 5 meter high stance and a 69 degree fall, you can get a top speed of 47 Km/h. “When I place weights in the car, it will go faster” says David, who’s looking for a trade school in town. The woodie coaster will be built without steel (except for screws). The 70 kg coaster car will be transported up to the highest point on the lift hill via a pulley block system and then let go. According to the Disneyland calendar, the attraction is closed till end of november (that's as far as it goes right now). Sorry for the folks that will miss it. Its smooth and fun enough. I spoke to my wife about this tonight ( she didn't hear about it), but wasn't surprised because she always was paranoid about the end of the ride. For those of you who haven't been on it the initial break run after the last helix, it is quite severe (full on hard core friction break). That's where the accident happened. You come in really fast... Just another comment on high technology rides. A marine general friend of mine was saying how with their highly sophisticated planes, there is just more and more of a probability of things going wrong. The more gadgetry, the higher the probability of failure of a component (because there are more components). 5 trains over 6000 feet is a lot. We've got a lsm launch, an lsm lift hill as well -- its pretty complex stuff. I don't think its fair to compare CS to a Mouse Robb, that's like saying, hey a cessna and an F18 -- they both fly, what's the difference? There's a huge difference, yet at the same time, there is a great similarity. Hugely complex rides are going to invariably be at risk for death etc. Look at the highest technology we have going: space launch/rocketry systems. Would you consider that stuff 'safe'? Its so incredibly complex, so many parts, the more there are, the more chances there are of failure. And failure in a space launch is a lot less easier to handle than failure in a low tech form of transportation (say a kayak?) I'm just bothered that people aren't seeing beyond the reality that its in the complexity of the machines themselves that the danger therein lies. That's why these machines are exciting. Crazy stuff happens with innovative (which at the time, believe it or not, CS was) machines. Remember when ToT's walls were blowing out because of the speed of the wind? Its the little things that can provide danger and safety. I'm not going to apologize for my long-winded rant. I just think the blame lies on ourselves here too as coaster enthusiasts. We love this crazy stuff, but we have to realize that inevitably, these machines we want built will fail and people will die. Disney has many of these machines, so more people will die there than say a Six Flags or a Legoland. BUT, that doesn't excuse Disney or the public from their own responsibility when getting on these machines or building them (let's throw Intamin into that equation too -- they test boundaries a lot). Its a risk you take whenever you buy your ticket. Life's a beeyotch I guess at times!

Expedition GeForce Video.

I think the video lost me at the montage which mimicked the blurring lights in front of K.I.T.T. Germans + Hasselhoff = dangerous. -

Soarin over Florida
Jose Eber replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That comment needs to be unpacked...why are you judging the military or aircraft carriers? The attraction que has giant photos of global ecosystems. Antarctic, rainforrest etc. Perhaps that's what's next. Florida landscape? = boring for me. You'd have to focus on animals or include more people (a busy beach, a busy nude beach would be even better). -
Disney Death (This Time, Typhoon Lagoon)

I think it would be killer if you could actually get a plot at the haunted mansion. That would be so sweet. I think people would pay dearly for that. -
Disney Death (This Time, Typhoon Lagoon)
Jose Eber replied to Mind Eraser's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm going to be the devils advocate and say yes, lots of people visit Disney, some will die, but also no, the rides there are getting more intense each year. Lately, with your Mission Spaces (even Body Wars, which is brutal btw) and crazy ToTerrors/RnRollercoasters (gawd, its a rattling vekoma people), Disney is building rides with less entertainment kiddie value and more thrill factor/fear factor. Gone are the 25 mph space mountains -- now we have 55 mph scream machines. Don't for one second not think that some of these more intense rides aren't aggravating pre-existing conditions. Yes they are pre-existing -- but really, how responsible is it to have attractions that shake people (and their pre-existing conditions up). We aren't talking about a six flags or carnival midway where these things haven't changed (basic thrill experience) over the years. Disney's ride culture is significantly changing -- and I think its throwing some people for a loop. Gone are the days when anyone could walk on a ride and it would be 'cool' for everyone. 15-20 years ago that was the case, now a days, hella no. My wife won't go on a handful of attractions because they are too intense. I personally hate a handful myself. As a kid, Disney parks were far more 'kid friendly'. Now they aren't so much anymore. Teen friendly yes, kid friendly not so much anymore. So kids dying -- I can sort of see why. Parents think this is the old Disney. Where all the rides are tame. They take their kids on it, or let them go on their own...things happen. I'm split down the middle here on this one. On one hand, yah, its stupid to blame disney. But on the other hand, the rides they are building lately are becoming crazier and crazier. -
I really like No Limits -- a lot. But tia won't program her tools for Mac Os X. I've heard No Limits support even being dropped for O S X in future versions I'm curious how this turns out. I've never played RCT (even though I have virtual PC. Wow. Wonder if they'll do a demo. No Limits fan for now (because that's all I have !) Jose

Disney Death (This Time, Typhoon Lagoon)
Jose Eber replied to Mind Eraser's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This is getting crazy. Do people just not like taking care of themselves or something? (Not like I'm one to talk, havn't seen a doctor in a while). I wonder what is going on. I'd be curious to see if these amounts of deaths are normal for Disney. I mean, people die all the time, just because you are in Disney World, doesn't mean you are immune to death. I'd be real curious to see what the stats are on this. Disney's rides are getting less and less tame as time goes on-- I wonder if the strenuous experiences just don't help these folks. (that wave pool can be a beeyotch if you are out of shape) -
Is everyone forgetting the multiple mishaps on BTMR a few years ago...what was that, 2 of them in one year? This is pretty crappy. Especially at the end of that helix -- man, you whip in there fast. Thank God no one died. In my opinion this is inexcusable. Disney has over the years spent less on maintenance and, according to many long time cast members have become more lax in safety policies due to 'cut backs' (thanks Eisner) -- which only compounds the problems: rides these days for some reason are getting more intense and demand engineering/computer/operator perfection. Perfection is hard to come by on the cheap! J.

Someone I know (a guy) was mik'd at a Pleasure Island club and then woke up at a neighboring motel last week. Yes, his rear-end hurt. The problem is, when you are half drunk, the cops unfortunately don't have to co-operate with you. My friend has really tough skin, but I had to encourage him several times to call the cops back even though they hadn't contacted (he was promised he'd be reached). ITs friggen humiliating!!! ON top of it you were drunk, so you feel partly responsible! (maybe?) Often its because victims are drunk, they will be taken advantage of. Drunk people or heavy drinkers I imagine make 'great' targets of sexual aggression? J. -
Nice pics. I grew up in Winterpeg. I miss curling in high school.
