Wicked Cyclone, July 19 -
Hey Fatties! LISTEN UP!!!
redfoot12 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
As a rider of "exceptional size", I have taken that walk of shame many times. Just to back up some of the things others have said, I had a bad experience opening weekend at KD this year, not only did I get denied on Twisted Timbers but I somehow didn't make it on I305. A friend from out of town was visiting the next weekend and I felt very cagey about meeting up with him and not being able to ride the two best rides in the park. I went anyway and was surprised to see that I was able to fit on both. I decided that my issue with not getting on I305 was primarily because of poor wardrobe choice and I got an excellent ride op for Twisted Timbers. That said, I'm 6'2" and was weighing around 315-320 at the time. I went on a diet and exercise over the next few months and now don't even worry when I visit. I'm also pretty sure that without the weight loss I would have been denied on Wicked Cyclone last month. I try to adhere to not taking my wallet, keys, and cell phone into parks. I also know that my ideal weight for not getting denied any rides is around 260-265. If I'm above this I know I can't ride El Toro and SFA's Superman. As mentioned, just serves as motivation! -
TPR's 2018 USA Tour Trip Reports!

Really enjoyed Invadr when I (finally) rode it this year. Makes me really excited to ride White Lightning at some point. -
Last week, July 19 to be exact, I headed to SFNE after I got off work (training in Hartford) for a few hours. It was my second trip so I focused on new to me rides like Wicked Cyclone and Joker, Great Chase (which I skipped on my first visit), and Superman. Joker was my first Free Spin and I actually really enjoyed it. I had very low expectations so I guess that helped. It's a clone I'll actually look forward to doing at other parks. Not much to say about Great Chase other than there was much shame involved. My expectations for Wicked Cyclone were pretty high and I gotta say I was slightly disappointed. While still an incredible ride, I was hoping it would match Twisted Timbers in terms of intensity and it fell a bit short. Out of the three I-boxes I've been on (TT and Twisted Colossus), it's definitely number three. I think I'd still rate it higher than Goliath as far as other RMC's I've ridden. I enjoyed the hell out of Superman. Got a ride in the front and one in the back. I don't think it's still my number 2 steel but at least in the top 15-20. Overall, a great trip and a welcome break from the monotony of the training I was in the area for. Wish I had had time for Quassy though!

I like the name. I was thinking more in terms of just "Steel" being a reference to Steel Phantom. Then the football reference hit me. Just made my first visit to KW this year and I think this looks like a decent enough ride to get me back up there next year. -

I'm at Lake Compounce right now. Wildcat is down due to a power surge from a lightning storm. Just got in a front ride on Boulder Dash and while it was fun, it didn't quite live up to expectations. In line now for a back ride. Would have been nice if it was running more than one train. Hopefully, I can squeeze in two more rides. -

I was planning to go tonight after work but thunderstorms killed that plan. Looks like tomorrow should be clear and sunny so I'll give it a go then. Very excited to finally ride Boulder Dash! -

Sorry to read the reports that this park is in a bit of decline. I'll be in Hartford next week for a work thing and hope to make my first visit here. I'll only have a couple of hours but hopefully on a Tuesday or Wednesday night that should be good enough to get all the credits plus some re-rides on Boulder Dash. -

Cool, thanks. I recently went to BGW and rode Apollo's Chariot so... I guess I'm okay? ETA: Nice trip report on Quassy, btw -
Quassy Amusement Park Discussion Thread
redfoot12 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm starting a new job and for training I'm being sent to Hartford for all of next week. So if time allows, I thought I'd try to finally do Lake Compounce and Quassy, as well as a return trip to SFNE which I haven't been to since 2014. That said, I've heard that the trains on Wooden Warrior may not be too accommodating for "guests of exceptional size" Any truth to this? -
I made my first ever visit to the park on June 30th on my way from Pittsburgh to Waldameer. I mainly just wanted to ride Blue Streak a couple of times and had done no real research into what was happening with the park. The crowds definitely surprised me and the park was a lot nicer than I was expecting. As someone else said, barring a major new attraction, I don't know that I'd go back but it was nice to see this old park getting some love (and crowds). *I rode Blue Streak twice, once in the front and once in the back (I think I pissed off a local who wanted the back also). I actually liked the ride in the front but the back was pretty brutal.

Wildcat at Adventure Park -
Yeah ya do. I've ridden 84 coasters in 9 states and Vortex is the absolute worst. For me: NC - Fury 325 SC - Afterburn VA - Twisted Timbers TN - Lightning Rod GA - Goliath MD - Superman ROS PA - Phoenix MA - Wicked Cyclone NJ - El Toro I actually thought Vortex was alright. This was back in 2007 and I certainly liked it more than Hurler and Cyclone. I'll be heading back to Carowinds later this summer so all will be right with the world.

Had my first visit to Kennywood on Friday and it was a pretty fun day. Slightly disappointed that they were only running a single train on Phantom and Thunderbolt. Whatever, Kangaroo more than made up for it! -
