  1. http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2008/04/06/2209007.htm?section=justin Just announced today. Werribee Zoo & Village Roadshow are to transform the open zoo into a theme park by 2010. Could this finally be the happening to Melbourne. The national news showed an advert for the park which showed several coasters. The fact they already made a proper advert is promising. Personally i'll believe it when i see construction started though. Melbourne was nationally advertised to get a Paramount Park in the news in 2000 (never to be heard again). A couple years ago Lindsay Fox put in a bid for a Disney park for Avalon but that too failed eventuate as well. My fingers are tightly crossed.
  2. A coaster fansite from Europe has it listed it as opening on April 17th.
  3. got another question.... my partner is on the heavy side and is worried he may not fit on some of the rides. He's fitted on all so far, but TTD & MF were close calls, & what ive read here the tightest seats. He has put on a small ammount of weight since then, which he is gyming out. So while he works on that, i want to find out if the Europe coasters have pretty much the same seats as their US counterparts. ie if he fits in a B&M USA will he fit B&M Europe in theory? And is is true all other Intamins have the slighty larger seats [ala Superman Great Escape Qld Australia] rather than the afor mentioned intamins. He is worried he will miss big intamins like Expedition Gforce & Goliath. Would greatly appreciate a response to this 4 1/2 months to go woohoo.
  4. thanks guys We'll be driving for all bar Spain and maybe England and i have my times worked out for all that. I am contemplating adding Tripsdrill back on due to hearing Mammut is another prefab woodie. But i need to diss a park. I'm thinking either Parc Asterix or Drievliet. Is Parc Asterixes woodie that good? Which of the 3?
  5. Are you only staying in Anaheim? Not LA? i can recommend trying the Holday Inn in LA/Hollywood,the YHA hostel in Santa Monica LA or Hollywood Hlls hostel for midweek trips. They have all helped me on various trips. From what i recall last time i was there they had also started up a normal buses service that goes up to SFMM from LA. Not sure for Anaheim though. Good Luck
  6. thanks alot mate quite a few of those especially at Efteling i hadnt heard about before.
  7. Son Of Beast .......easily for me, over worthy rough rides Mean Streak & Raging Wolf Bobs. I actually liked Psyclone, not anywhere near as rough as these, or many others in my opinion. Special mention to those steel nasties - almost all SLC & Boomerangs.
  8. thanks mate I've checked your coaster count. You've been to all the places i'm going ,i think, & yes it was the Spanish sites that got me thinking about the language barrier, it'll be no sweat, just wanted a heads up. Can i ask you what are your favorite dark rides, attractions at these parks or anything i might miss that is hidden inside a building or a favorite sight that is often underrated. Some of the things i've been looking up besides coasters look brilliant.
  9. I'd love to go to Sweden & visit Liseberg but we really can't add any more countries. Balder & Kanonen ....aah another time.
  10. I would definitely do SFMM that is a must for the awseome coasters. And i agree with others although Knotts has better rides for your age group, Disneylands themeing is by far the most superior in California. You'll love Space Mountain & Indiana & even Tower of Terror next door. Knotts flat/thrilll rides are similar to those at Dreamworld so its only the coasters there that will be new to you here. Xcellerator is awesome but is similar to Superman Great Escape at Movie World just alot faster and higher and a couple great sweeping turns whereas Superman has the airtime hills, themeing, tunnel etc. These are both coasters i really like, but i would still say miss KBF and visit SFMM & Disney. SFDK up north is ok too but not better than SFMM or Disney. I was 28 on my first visit and i did SFMM, Disneyland & Universal in Southern California. While i liked visiting Universal, it is definitely the number 4 park to me in this region, my days at SFMM & Disney were unforgettable.
  11. Thanks guys, i have added Blackpool back onto my definites list. Thanks for the info & link for the Efteling passes Groteslurf, greatly appreciate that find. We have limited time in Italy, so Katun is ,unfortunately for me, extremely unlikely, but i can never say never when Intamin or B&M are involved. One other thing i have been meaning to ask, do any of these parks operate with no or very little English at all, like Fuji Queue & Yomiuriland in Japan. Should i go by the parks websites language.
  12. Was thinking of doing Tripsdrill &/or Walibi Belgium if we have extra time. But they're not definites. Same with Blackpool I took Blackpool off the list as it seems to have basic themeing & no unique rides, even though it has 12 coasters, almost sinful. Are the woodies there worth the day trip. I only see their woodies as being worth the visit, looking at the coaster/ride range. Only 4 days in Italy so we are giving the parks there a miss. Mostly all by car, some trains & will plane it to Spain & Italy i think.
  13. Fuji Queue is a good park, but yes, lines are horrid. However i rode all but one ride when i visited and thats because i dedicated the last 3 hours to queue & reride Eeajanaika. Get there in time for opening then you can ride Eejanaika within 30 minutes and beat the crowd to Dodonpa. Then do Fujiyama (which had 1-1.5 hour wait all day we visited). By lunch you have done the 3 majors and can now fit in all the rest, like Zola 7. One thing i learnt in Japan. It is perfectly fine to have one person queue for a ride and your friends are permitted to join them whenever they want. So if someone doesn't ride something you are on get them to start queueing for another ride. Its done quite alot at Fuji Q. Anyhow i liked Fuji Q. Would go there again. On the other parks the Disneys are a must. Laqua & Yomiuriland spend half a day at each and ride Bandit lots. Tobu Zoo has 2 good coasters now, i'd check that one out too. All these ones are easy and quick to get too.
  14. I am going to Europe for the first time later this year. I want to see the sights but i also cannot miss the best coasters & parks Europe has on offer. I have checked out all the usual sites and used this sites trips as a stater guide, like i did with Japan. I will be in Europe 6 weeks. UK,France, Netherlands, Germany, Spain & Italy. Here is my park list is Alton Towers, Thorpe Park, Adventure Island, Disneyland & Studio, Parc Asterix, Phantasialand, Europa Park, Holiday Park, Heide Park, Wildund Freitzietpark Klotten, Port Aventura, Parque de Atracciones de Madrid, Parque Warner Madrid, Bobbejaanland, Walibi World, Drievliet, Toverland & Efteling. I want to know if i am missing any park or roller coaster the devoted from this site think i should not miss. I have been to most of the major parks in the US & Japan & love Intamin & B&M, but are also looking forward to new experiences from Maurer Sohne & Gertlauer as well as the new "woodies" like Troy. Have i got the majors covered. I had alot more UK parks i cut for sightseeing like Oakwood, Blackpool & Drayton Manor. Also is there any annual passes that cover multple parks in Europe besides the Merlin one in the UK?
  15. We will going to Disney At Sea the longer day, thanks guys for your input. With so many unique things at Disney At Sea it will definitely work out more worthwhile, what was i thinking...now i just have to re arrange my California Adventure visit day as California Screamin is closed the 3 days we are staying in Anaheim.I'd rather drive from LA on the weekend when its open. heres my park list for the coming 4 weeks:- TOKYO Sega Joypolis LaQua ( Tokyo Dome) Fuji Q Highland Tokyo Disney Disney At Sea N CALIFORNIA Six Flags Marine World Paramounts Great America Santa Cruz Boardwalk LAS VEGAS Everything! S CALIFORNIA Six Flags Magic Mountain Disneyland Knotts Berry Farm Disneys California Adventure Universal Studios Hollywood & a maybe Sea World San Diego Have i missed any thing out major,i only have one spare day in Tokyo ,which may be "Steel Dragon 2000 "day.Maybe that day would be better at a closer park like Yomiurland? Also two days spare in both North California (weekdays only) and in Southern California. Can't wait,at least 25 - 30 new coasters for me to ride on this trip (my current coaster count is 148) Then there are all the other great rides . Happy chappy i am.
  16. Damn i thought i might get to ride both 4Ds on my holiday.I better ride the Fuji Q one heaps incase X isn't reopened by October. Is there any news that it will be open for the Halloween Period? I was at SFMM on holiday from Australia the day it broke down in 2002, rode it first thing ,was on the first ride of the day,but rode just once, it was our first of 4 days there, just looking at that idle ride was so frustrating.People queued all day in hope it would open. Returned in 2004 to no problem the 5 seperate days we always started at X.Its one my favorite coasters (if not the fav.) as its so different and extreme. 2006? X or no X,i thank you Fuji Q Highland. My fingers are still crossed for X though.
  17. I am off to Tokyo for the first time in a week and i still can't decide out of Tokyo Disney or Disney At Sea which i should spend the entire day at,while the other we must leave around 530 to attend a concert. I prefer exciting or original rides most, far more than shows. I am also going to both California Disneys a few weeks later. I only want to spend the entire day, open to close at DAS if it has enough rides to keep me entertained the entire day (something i know TD will definitely do). I don't mind requeueing for repeat rides of the great ones I also want to experience the other things that make Disney great parks but does DAS have enough for a 12 hour visit.Would i be able to really see all DAS in 8 hours and go on all the big rides twice? Thanks
  18. Yay! I leave for Tokyo in just over a week.If i can get there i will post pics n vid.I had written off ever getting to ride this coaster. Visiting Sega Joypolis LaQua (TokyoDome) DisneySea TokyoDisney Fuji Q Highland
  19. Hey i will be there in September too.Going either the 21st or 22nd.A week later if I've got my dates right. They are apparently closed on Monday the 18th (The bus service route had this info, although i read elsewhere it is normally tuesdays its closed). About 75 days for me then 2 weeks later i will be on X .
  20. Superman The Great Escape at MovieWorld Gold Coast QLD Australia,an awesome Intamin launch coaster with theming.
  21. I thought that SOB's loop was smooth? That's what I heard, the loop was smooth, the rest of the ride was painful. The wood part, as you may have worked out, is very rough ,the loop is near the end of the ride so by the time it hits your back is screaming for a break, not an inversion. It just makes you feel worse. Its looks cool and is the smoothest part of the ride, but after riding SOB,i don't think we will be getting any more looping woodies.SOB is one coaster thats only for extreme enthusiasts for mind.
  22. The park closes off the line before closing time and runs X until all in the queue have ridden. You can sometimes sneak another go in right at the end of the day with only about a 30-45 minute wait, but that depends on the day. But as previously stated the "morning run" is best. Last time i was there, 1 person collapsed and another couldnt stop throwing up upon the opening run up the hill to X.So bring good running shoes.
  23. Son Of Beast,Mean Streak, Psyclone,Viper & Collossus. But Son Of Beasts loop (ouch) makes it the winner. I stopped making looping woodies in RCT after riding this.Couldn't do that to my poor guests.
  24. This sound excellent and will be open in time for me to ride in September. With Eejanaika,Tower Of Terror & now Spin Bullet its looking a great year for new ride openings around Tokyo.
  25. I have visited SFMM a few times.Defintely do X at the very start of the morning and get there about 15-30 mins before the parking opens (which was 30 - 60 minutes before the park).X's queue was around 2hrs all day long but if you do X first then go clockwise you will stay ahead of most of the pack and experience little or no lines for an hour or two (while people are still waiting to ride X).Not sure now how busy Tatsu is though. When i visit again I am still going on X first then i will assess Tatsus queue.X has the one of 3 ridiculously long queue lines i have experienced (the other 2 - TTD & MF at Cedar Point). You are also better off taking the mid part of the day slow or even leave the park and return around 5 as many quest begin to leave around dinnertime. The last hour the back of the park has been empty on my visits. Hope this helps
