  1. Hi We have unexpectedly been given day long stopovers in Guangzhuo China to & from Europe this summer. Arriving very early mornings & leaving very late both nights. Looking at the positives, this has thrown us the opportunity to visit Hong Kong Disney, the remaining Disney park we had not been to.... bonus! But what for the other day, if we decide to go out to another park, which one. I've been to Ocean Park, that was ok, but nothing special. A new park would probably be of more interest. Was thinking of Knights Valley (for its wood coaster) or maybe the nearby Happy Valley What would you guys do?
  2. Fast Lane = Awesome I'll be puting aside $$$ for this. No more 2 hour wait times for me. I drive a 1990 car worth under a grand but people with $30.000+ cars regularly ask me how i afford my trips & other like minded questions.
  3. Great pics, it looks amazing, Europa doing great theme work, again. Thanks for posting Can't wait to get to Europa & ride it.
  4. Thanks We realise will be arriving when the summer holidays kick in at several locations near where we are heading. On previous trips we were surprised by some (not all) of the smaller parks having lower than expected crowds & wait times. Visited Klotten on a summer holiday weekday afternoon & on arrival found no line at all for HeiBe Fahrt, i had to wait for other riders to arrive.
  5. Thanks for that. With the better coaster & easier option, we'll stick with Heibe Fahrt awesomeness, as originally planned.
  6. We are arriving very early in Paris late June & we will visiting Parc Asterix before we trek to Europa Park. Do they have luggage storage there? I can't recall, & see no mention on their site. I know we can store luggage now at, or closeby to, the airport but storing at the park would be alot easier. Also we had planned to hit Holiday Park then Klotten on our drive from Europa to The Netherlands. We practically pass them both regardless. We have been to both before & understandably really want to ride both Expedition G Force & HeiBe Fahrt. We have not been to Tripsdrill though. Is it worth the extra driving (about 90 mins all up) to hit up Tripsdrill & miss Klotten? Will we be let down their Gerstlauer isnt as good? Is Tripsdrill a park thats too crowded to turn up midway throughout the day early July? Would appreciate your ideas
  7. A couple things not mentioned that i found on my visits. Mad mouse was very quiet the first hour until the riders started leaving the big coaster lines. Fujiyama easily had the shortest queue of the big coasters most of the day ranging from 40-90mins. The 40mins was at lunchtime & near the end of the day. Hamster coaster & Nagashima water ride didnt open until 1 hour after opening. Don't know if thats usual but thats what happened on my visit.
  8. I had a two day free pass that allows free rides, but i also bought several of the individual "priority passes" for rides. They cost an additional $10 on top of your free pass. You head straight up the exit rank most rides. Unlike most other fast pass type lines, i only ever saw a few others in the line at all times & the special passes were sold out early both days, so they are definitely limited in availability.
  9. In my experience, the chances of using more than one ticket per coaster per day at Fuji-Q are pretty close to non-existent. (Takabisha is absolutely stunning, FWIW -- it's just a shame they built it at Fuji-Queue). I went October 31 & Nov 1. weekdays. I did 2-3 tickets for each coaster on my first day & rode takabisha twice in line early morning & later in the day did the hamster coaster woth a minor wait time. The following day i lined up early for Takabisha & then head straight to line up for Eejanaika. i bought 3 ticktets for each coaster plus the water ride & the haunted house & did more browsing at stuff i know little about like Evangelion. I bought all my tickets for each coaster in the same hour eg Dodonpa all 3 tickets were for 12-1. They let me board every second train if i remained at the boarding station for rerides. If you just ride the big coasters you could squeeze in 4 coasters for every second hour & 3 the other hours. You can be done in 4 hours, leaving you several hours for other stuff.
  10. That's a great point. I'm in the same boat. I rode at Holiwood Nights dozens of times in 2006 and loved it, it was my #2 for a couple of years. However, Just like the MVP award in baseball, voting criteria is up to the voter. Do you rank based on the best ride you ever had on the coaster? Do you rank based on a typical ride? Do you lower your ranking because the general enthusiast community complains about a coaster deteriorating? Do you lower your ranking because people you respect and have similiar opinions have told you how rough a certain coaster has gotten? Agree. Thats why i sometimes search for why people rate coasters a certain way. I am certainly now aware of other aspects i hadn't considered such as age, that would cause a certain like/dislike for rides. I dread the day i may not enjoy El Toro or Boulder Dash
  11. Nice photos. Thanks for posting them & your report. I seem to be in the minority here who really likes Fuji Q. One thing in your recommendations you advise to buy 1 ticket for each coaster. I would recommend buying 3-4 tickets for each coaster. How often in your life will you visit Fuji Q people? The train ride in was FAR more scenically enjoyable for me, than the bus trip i had taken previous. Was very easy to work out (1 minor transfer) & the pricing between bus & train was pretty similar.
  12. Another 100 plus pollster too. hmm. You would think these riders more than others, who have taken the time out to do the poll after riding so many widespread coasters, would want to actually share something close to their true opinion that they obviously have a passion for. El Toro was still number one & Voyage clearly was not number one. Wasted effort, time & votes & who would really respect their opinion/s now even if they have ridden 100 plus coasters.
  13. Thanks Rob This one just stood out as i 'd seen & read that persons reviews before & went looking for their reasons why they would have these ratings, seeing as they seemed very expeienced, not to show them up as being so obviously foolish. Any other coasters other than "El Toro" that havent been mentioned being unexpectedly higher or lower rated?
  14. This years results seemed pretty much around to my experiences. I never take exact placements to heart, but the around about ranking are far more important for my trip planning So i was intreged to look up some of the polls from the riders with high counts. Especially "the other" El Toro as that one hadn't caught my eye as being so highly thought of. So off i went scrolling through the some submitted polls for anyone over 100 coasters. Didn't take long to find someone who had ridden 177 woodies. Awesome i applaud them, lets see what they think... My Favorite Steel Anypark Anywhere **,y,n,1 Phoenix Knoebel's PA,y,y,2 Wooden Warrior Quassy CT,y,y,3 El Toro Freizeitpark Plohn DE,y,y,4 Mammut Tripsdrill DE,y,y,5 Boulder Dash Lake Compounce CT,y,y,6 Zippin Pippin Bay Beach WI,y,y,7 El Toro SFGAd NJ,y,n,48 Ghoster Coaster Kings Dominion VA,y,n,72 Son of Beast (SBNO) Kings Island OH,y,n,151 Tonnerre de Zeus Parc Asterix FR,y,n,170 White Canyon Yomiuriland JP,y,n,176 White Cyclone Nagashima Spaland JP,y,n,177 The Voyage Holiday World IN,y,n,178 They seem to have a dislike or unusual placement for many coaster, OK thats there opinion even if i strongly disagree. Hey hang on im sure ive seen that persons name before in coaster net land. Lets google them..here they are quoting on a trip to Yomiuriland. Yomiuriland was very HOT. The coasters were much better than I expected. I liked the White Canyon, reminded me of the Riverside Cyclone, with the Morgan trains. The Bandit was actually quite fun. Thankfully the poll didnt seem to have too many of these fools wanting to brag about something.
  15. I liked both but I'd hit up Tobu Zoo. 2 very worthy coasters & a great 3d simulator ride. Park was extremely quiet when i visited on weekdays, easily the quietest park ive been to in Japan. Zero ride wait times for the entire park.
  16. I got a paper shredder & a labeller, but I gave myself a trip to my first Disney Xmas, Japan. I'm guessing the gifts a hint i'm accumulating too many of my own "bags o crap". But i've always got room for one more.
  17. 1 My Favorite Steel 2 El Toro Great Adventure 3 Boulder Dash Lake Compounce 4 Tonnerre de Zeus Parc Asterix 5 Colossos Heide Park 66 Son of Beast Kings Island
  18. I too finally go to experience the Haunted Hospital/Labyrnth of Fear recently as well as a ton of coaster riding thanks to the fast pass system. I even gave the water ride Nagashimasuka a go. Not many passes seem to be sold each day, but they are so worth the cost, as i never had more than a 5 minute wait.
  19. I contacted Mitch a couple weeks ago to ask & he said hoped to run the wood coaster poll soon.

  21. "So this isn't even a "quasi Quassy query"?" Lol, sorry guys. "alternative" would have been better. Thanks again. I've only been to TDR once & couldn't recall the entry procedure.
  22. Thanks.
  23. I was wondering if, to your knowledge, i would encounter any problems if i buy 2 tickets for one day at Tokyo Disney & enter twice the same day, in order to double up on fast passes [if i end up going on a overly busy day]. Do they finger scan or anything like that?
  24. On a visit in May to Florida i was asked to do a survey upon leaving Busch, the attendant was quite knowledgeable about all the US Busch/Seaworld Parks & we chatted a bit. She asked near the end of our conversation if i had plans to ever visit Buschs park in Dubai, surely it was on par or better than their park, she wondered. I answered, if its ever built, maybe. She was stunned it wasnt open! LOL
