  1. Couldn't agree more. I was thinking of not hitting Fuji Q when i visit later this year, but now they go & entice me with this. Damn you Fuji Q. At least I may have the Mt. Fuji view on offer while in those long wait times.
  2. I had not experienced many of the higher rated wooden coasters around the USA 2010 changed that for me,riding many great woods for the first time. El Toro & Boulder Dash easily my 2 favorite. 1 El Toro SFGAd NJ ]2 Boulder Dash Lake Compounce CT 3 Tonnerre de Zeus Parc Asterix FR 4 Colossos Heide Park DE 5 The Voyage Holiday World IN 6 Ravine Flyer II Waldameer PA 7 Terminator Salvatio S. F. Magic Mountain CA 8 Troy Toverland NL 9 Lightning Racer - L Hersheypark PA 10 Lightning Racer - T Hersheypark PA 11 Phoenix Knoebel's PA 12 Silver Comet Martin's Fantasy Is. NY
  3. I would also go along with Shoot the rapids. OK ride, but rarely open & when it was the public were walking right by when i was there. Not good for a brand new water ride in the middle of summer. Personal disappointment for me was missing Dollywood due to extreme weather on my last day in the states.
  4. The poll is going ahead this year. Mitch replied to my email several days ago & is currently ill & said that he will get to it when he is feeling better.
  5. A great year for me. Luna Park Melbourne Luna Park Sydney Six Flags Magic Mountain Disneyland Disney California Adventure Knott's Berry Farm Deno's Wonder Wheel Park Luna Park Coney Island Busch Gardens Williamsburg Kings Dominion Six Flags America Dorney Park Six Flags Great Adventure Hershey Park Knoebels Six Flags New England Lake Compounce Darien Lake Martin's Fantasy Island Canada's Wonderland Kennywood Waldameer Cedar Point Indiana Beach Holiday World Kings Island [2010 Total 26 parks, 35 visits]
  6. Definitely hit Movie World my favorite Oz park with Superman & Scooby as well as a handful of other decent rides. Dreamworld is OK, but if you've been to more than a few US parks you may feel you've seen everything here before. Wet N Wild shouldn't be missed if you have any interest in water rides at all. One of the best water parks in the world & is next door to Movie World. Sea World is OK, only go if you wanna see the animals, otherwise give it a miss.
  7. I went last week & Tuesday was far less crowded than the Monday. Even though Monday had heavy rain scheduled (which it did all afternoon) it was very crowded. On Tuesday I got about 3 times as many rides, as most rides were walk ons or under 10 minutes wait (bar Fahrenheit which was around 20 minutes). Not sure if that would still be the same in August though.
  8. Guess who rang last night.....Six Flags America! Forgot all about this, but on entry on our recent visit to the park we were asked if we would mind being contacted as part of a survey. This was before we had any experience of the park at all, bar seeing the front entrance. I answered questions & let them know my opinions, good & bad, as i have mentioned in previous posts. I was extememely happy they rang & hope the survey leads to some improvements.
  9. ^ Coming from Australia. Melbournians & Sydneyites (the 2 biggest cities in Australia) would love to have just those upgrades. You guys are so spoilt
  10. I visited this park primarily as they had a Intamin Mega as well as several other good coasters & rides. Maybe they need to put in something new for the locals, but image & reputation counts for quite a lot & they seem to not help themselves in some areas. Basics such as napkins, toilets, shade & informed, pleasant staff all throughout parks can really make the difference to a park. This needs to be across the board, not just in selective areas/sections. Like most experiences in life. Bad experiences get told over & over creating lasting reputations. I just want to reiterate. I did enjoy the park, but it could be so much better with some small touches, then the increased attendance would justify increased spending. I'm a smoker (yes disgusting, addictive & life shortening habit, i know) i found it stupid that they have smoking areas boxed in concrete without a single umbrella or tree in any. Just steps away dozens of umbrellas in deserted food areas. It looks ridiculous. Better off having no smoking area than what is there. What do they think smokers talk about while standing in there together? They could also move one or two of the customerless food vans down closer to Batwing. Things like this just make for bad word of mouth & image, even though they could be rectified at no cost whatsoever.
  11. Went today for the very first time & my immediate thought of the park was concrete jungle. After being impressed at the entrance area we went straight down the back. After riding S:ROS once & sweating i went for a drink & smething to wipe my sweat. Asked for a napkin at the 3 nearest food stalls. None had any at all. The nearest toilet & refill station for my Six Flags cup were both far away. Plenty of other drinks available though. Several rides broke down early in the day. S:ROS, Batwing, 3 water rides & The Wild One all within the first hour or so. The Wild one remained closed all day. After i got over these facts & the extreme heat i actually enjoyed the most of the parks ride selection. Practically walk on to every ride all day, lots of half full rides all day, including S:ROS Hadn't seen a park with this many good/decent rides in summer desserted since i went to Geauga Lake. Roar was alot rougher than the one in SoCal but still rideable. I know Thomas Land is new there, but its the worst example i've seen by far in terms of actual Thomas representation. I would hope that isn't the finished product. I really liked reriding an Intamin Mega over & over without having to leave the station, but other than that the park didn't inspire me to return again. More coasters would be great, but no point in my eyes until they fix some [way cheaper] cosmetic issues of the park. I'd rather drive further to BGW or KD even with a Six Flags season pass.
  12. Sorry if this has been mentioned already, but the speakers on Terminator were removed from the trains when i visited Saturday. They were also doing the $10 early entry for X2 as they had done the previous weekend, but this time without the souvenir/refill cup. About 100 took up the offer & this time & you could only have the one ride on X2. Still it allowed me to ride the other coasters in the park mostly queue free ( & get multiple re-rides) while people were still in line to ride X2. They should do this every day.
  13. Went to the mountain yesterday & they offered 30 minutes exclusive X2 time for people who purchased a $10 souvenir cup. I Got 4 rides in without queueing.
  14. Re Rail Chase, i agree, its definitely a coaster. It had track, drop & shooting. I was attempting to explain how the ride went. Space Probe was pretty good actually, but by then it wasn't anywhere near enough to be the parks savior. The park was deserted on my visits when that was installed. Wonderland didn't offer up much after the Demon. Its those earlier years i will fondly remember.
  15. Rail Chase wasn't really a coaster, it had one 3-4 foot drop. Other than that though, it was a fun shoot em dark ride on a powered track. Wonderland was ordinary by world standards, but it was unfortunately one of Australias better efforts And only large park outside Queensland. I drove up every year or two for a much needed coaster fix.
  16. Wonderland, alas, it had so much potential to be really great. Inspired by this, Here's my brochure from Sydneys short lived Sega World from 2000. Sega World Map
  17. Congratulations, a truely massive effort. Great pics too, thanks for posting.
  18. Their hotel seems nice, we ate there 2 days later, when we visited Mt. Fuji. I wouldn't waste my money on those fastpasses though! 1000 Yen is too much, even for these babies! And even if there are a lot of people at the park, you should get all the major rides done. It's a shame we didn't do the haunted hospital, but if its the same Japanese crap als the casket ride, it's a waste of time and money. The haunted hospital costs 500 Yen by the way. I never realised Fuji Queue now had fastpasses for 1000 yen, around 10 US dollars. Thats good value, especially considering their reknowned queue times. Great report & the photos are awesome. Good to hear Eejanaika was running well (albeit very briefly).
  19. Japan for me & definitely with added Tokyo Disney goodness.
  20. Great news. Wet N Wild is already one of the best water parks in the world as it is. Can't wait to ride.
  21. Thanks for posting this question as i will there on July 10 & 14 & was wondering how i may go too. Sounds like a Flash Passes for this & also Magic Mountain (i'm there a couple weeks earlier) are gonna be worth the added expense.
  22. I went in mid summer the last 2 years & found the park very busy, but the crowds tended to stay near the front of the park for the first couple hours at least. I walked past 30-40 minute waits for Xpress, but had 0-15 waits at Goliath. Later on in the day the wait times reversed. It was about 30-40 minutes for Goliath & Xpress was a 5-10 minutes wait. I also will put a plug in for Efteling, if you have time.
  23. One thing i found out late in the day at Fuji Q. It is fine to have one person queue & then have friends cut in line to meet up as long as you have 1 person in line. It happened so often at Eejanaika that we asked an attendant who informed us that it was correct. Though i didn't see hardly any people leave the queue once they entered, maybe that was also a rule or Japanese protocol? Maybe someone will fit the Haunted Hospital in this way one day, though 1 person will still have to queue for entire 4 hours!
