  1. Wow... the buildings actually look REALLY nice with the rockwork. I hate the Superman colorscheme though. Red, yellow and blue... echhh.
  2. Very good observations I'm seeing here. One other thing that really sets the mood is the music. One of the things I remember about when I first went to IOA, was seeing the lighthouse in the distance, eventually hearing the music in Port Of Entry-really set the mood of the area and this carries on through all the themed islands.
  3. While I feel the ride was WAY overhyped I make sure to ride it every time I'm at the point. It's fun, and worth it if you get the handstamp. I like Kingda Ka better because the surrounding area and the extra hill, but I definately appreciate the lap bars on TTD.
  4. I know I always look WAY into these things... but since it's all in fun I'll give my .02 ... Put two and two togetether... 4th Intamin. When Wicked Twister opened I remember reading Cedar Point had an agreement to install 4 Intamins over x amount of time. This could be completely false, but I know it's been said before. The stuff under the tarp LOOKS like Intamin track but for all we know it could be gates/etc. My guess... Intamin wing-walker or Intamin ball coaster-considering Elissa seems confident this is an Intamin protype. Only thing is Wing walkers are supposed to use hydraulic launch-which is what Dragster is. Would be kind of weird to have two accelerators in the park.
  5. That's definately some interesting information. Oooo... is that track maroon?
  6. I don't think there were many footers poured on the blog update. Definately none in shape of anything in particular. Someone should go for recon photos.
  7. Yep, CD case is about the size of the base I use. I also feel the size is what makes them interesting. If they were any bigger I just wouldn't have room around the house to store them! The SFNE model is huge and already takes up a lot of room. A larger scale would make the detail I want unacceptable. The plastic cases sound like a good idea, something I might look into if I ever plan on selling build-to-order models. I'm glad you like the waterslides, I even have a model of a proslide tonado. Some of the slides are difficult to make because of the complex twists an turns they take, crossing over eachother. I insist that on my SFNE Hurricane Harbor the slides are accurate so they do take some time. The "fat" waterslides, proslide tornados, Zooma/Geronimo falls were hardest to make... The tube is actually thin plastic clothesline, hollowed out and then a wire inserted to hold shape. The stripes are then painted on. Again, glad you guys like the models. There will be dozens more assembled this year. Thanks for checking them out.
  8. The speed is there but MAN those banked turns look sick!
  9. Nice topic, several nice area come to mind right away... *Crackaxle Canyon at SFNE-When this area was added to the park I was shocked to see it so well-themed. The park has a DC comics themed area which I really don't care for... but Crackaxle really adds a much-needed well themed area with a nice selection of themed rides. *Asia at Disney's Animal Kingdom-Love the architecture and of course-Everest looming over the entire section doesn't hurt the landscape. I think this is the best area at the park as they blend the animal exhibits, rides, and shops so well. *Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom-Always been somewhat of a sci-fan, I used to REALLY like this area because it had one of my favorite rides-Alien Encounter, but we all know what happened there. Even though I've never been to Disney Sea, the Mysterious Island section looks spectacular. Can't wait to see it for myself whenever we have the TPR Japan trip.
  10. That's the first thing I thought of (4D)... A dueling coaster would be "put one and one together" if it were two-tracked of course... Oh well, the speculation is the best part.
  11. I definately planned on it, I just didn't feel at that point I wanted so many people to see it... as the quality wasn't where I wanted it to be. Now it's looking a lot better but still needs a ton of work. If they do decide to showcase the model, they'll need to give it back at the end of every season for updating. I really should finish the damn thing... The waterslides are just such a pain in the ass...
  12. Hmmm... I've never even heard of this place. Looks like they have a very well themed Huss frisbee.
  13. Ok... well there's been a bit more progress with Tatsu's structure but there is still no train, no station/paths/trees etc. I should have this one done before I get on the real thing in a couple weeks. One "problem" you may notice with Tatsu is that the terrain bits of the ride just aren't there (i.e. the drop should be a lot higher off the ground) These models are representative only so I'm not able to carve mountains and such. I just try to replicate the track as best as possible. Another view. Tatsu still with its first paint coat, it will be repainted when its done. Lift and drop... etc.
  14. The seats do not spin at all, they are fixed in the upright position. I can't wait to see what the layout on this thing will look like...
  15. The new coaster is going to be an Intamin "Wing walker" See the patent by clicking the provided link. http://v3.espacenet.com/textdoc?DB=EPODOC&IDX=WO0108769&F=0
  16. It's called the "Leap Of Faith" It drops you 60' into a clear tube through the 'predator lagoon"-shark tank. Leap Of Faith
  17. hey collosus, where's the pics? I have no idea why I'm interested in this ride, it's just so bizarre...
  18. We have a version of Timberline Twister at SFNE and it really doesn't spin as much as it should... Did MOA's coaster at least spin a lot?
  19. Welcome, Lincow Don't apolgize for your English, it's perfect. The theming on this park looks incredible! Looks like they will also have a master blaster and a flow rider, as well as a water slide that goes "underwater" (like the Atlantis resort) It's weird that a waterpark will have two steel coasters-but no complaints here! Keep us posted!
  20. "Trip Like I Do" by Crystal Method/Filter should be on there.
  21. Weird ride... It's cool how you have to wear the "flying squirrel" suits to change direction. That entire website was a good find, a lot of interesting German flat ride videos there!
  22. I have been to both parks twice. PCW is my favorite of the two, mainly because of the rare flat rides they have. I really don't care for their coasters... (mostly clones and some mediocre wooden coasters) La Ronde has the better coasters, especially since they're about to open a brand new B&M Speed Coaster.
  23. Bolliger & Mabi-LARD (really pronounced Mah-Bee-Yard) Kray-ken (really pronounced Krah-Ken)
  24. Thank you all for the kind words. The models are "ok" now, like I said, only about half done. The reason I never posted the pictures before is because I just feel they aren't even close to done, and at the size I'm working with for these models, adding little things like trees and coaster trains becomes very difficult. I made the Kraken model for a college art project (2 years ago) and the SFNE model just for the hell of it... I like the way the B&Ms come out more than the Intamins so far... Once I'm done with Tatsu's structure I'm going to add the train and details so I can actually finish a model before the actual ride opens for once. Then I'll go back and fix up the other ones... repaint, add catwalks, and SheiKra's train. canobiefan-Skycoasterfreak from sfne.com bought a model of Batman The Dark Knight from me years back when I first started building them, they've since been built with even more detail and if I do decide to ever sell them I'm going to make at least one model of every prototype (for let's say B&M to start) to show an example of what that particular style looks like. I don't want to infringe any copyrights... and I want to make sure they're actually good enough to display of course. Again, thanks for checking out the photos but wait till you see em finished.
