  1. The trees are all real. Just FYI Chris.
  2. ^ The fires are about 30 miles away. They are not going to become a danger to the park at all. The only issue is smoke. Chris.
  3. I wonder if the fire on X2 and terminator will be on or off? LOL Chris.
  4. ^ Yeah that's what I'm hoping on. I just hope the news keeps showing that awful purple air quality color there in the SCV hahaha. The park is indeed in pretty much no danger this time around, but I'm counting on GP ignorance and hoping they just decide to hit up the mouse or Knotts instead. Chris.
  5. Somebody mentioned 'mondo crowdage' for this weekend, but I don't know if I can agree with that. Sure, its Labor Day weekend, but we are also dealing with the wildfire mess in that area. The news is reporting terrible air quality in that area. Also, sometimes the fear of large crowds can actually result in smaller crowds at the park. Does anybody here KNOW (please hold back on 'I thinks) if fires affect the size of crowds. There are fires every year in that area, and I'm sure some of us have been to the park in the summer, on a weekend, during a fire. Please share your experiences as I expect to be at the park this Sunday. I guess the reason I ask is because I want to debate with myself as to whether or not a flashpass should be pre-purchased or just bought at the park the day of (that day being sunday). Chris.
  6. wow, he said its easy and I got my worst score ever. 3/10 LOL! Chris.
  7. ^I was up in Valenica today and to be honest, I didn't find it to be that smokey at all. Sure, you can see it in the distance, but other than that it was not bad. The fire IS expected to be headed closer to the park though (park is in absolutely no danger), so conditions could be different tomorrow. Chris.
  8. Brent, I heard it was the Aquabats and Everlast. What a weird combination. Is that true? Chris.
  9. ^ While I hate to chime in on the forbidden topic, I have always found it beneficial to shell out for the $9 lock-ers at the front of the park. Your code works all day, you can grab stuff from it whenever you want and not worry about the price changing. I carry very little on me when I am exploring the park, pretty much just some cash in my pocket and *maybe* my cell phone. I don't REALLY need to take calls when I'm out having fun, and I still know how to operate without it. Chris.
  10. I like both, but like everybody else I give the edge to SCBB. SCBB has a great pre lift tunnel with a nice pop of airtime right out of the station. The ride layout is a little, I don't know, more traditional feeling than the one in San Diego. It was fun, and ran very smooth. I remember comparing the smoothness to that of the (then newly opened) Ghostrider. BP was fun as well, I remember when it reopened that I found it to be quite jerky. I have ridden in the last year and was happy to find that it was much smoother, and even had some pops of air. I was also lucky enough to be riding it in the rain, so that may have helped quite a bit They are both really good rides though and purely on a historic basis, I find them both to be important California landmarks in their own right. I also love the smell in the tunnels on both of the coasters, has that whole...old time grease smell. I dunno, call me weird LOL. Chris.
  11. Regarding the ad's on Viper, some of us like them, some of us hate them, but man; they sure have us all talking about hair glue!!!!! Sounds like a win for both the advertising agent and sfmm if you ask me. Chris.
  12. ...mentioned a few pages back, yes, I will probably be attending 'out at the mountain.' Chris.
  13. The only thing more disturbing than that one porno is that the sticker says 'previously viewed.' That REALLY makes me want to buy it Gross! Chris.
  14. Why is Ikea so much more fun than other furniture stores? It's so bizarre. Has anybody seen that enormous Ikea distribution center near 'the grapevine' in California off the 5? Its seriously a half a mile long!!! Chris.
  15. There are now OVER TEN PAGES of OTSR conversation. I'm just jealous that the east coast is getting another Intamin Hyper!!! You guys are lucky!!!!! Chris.
  16. ^ You would be surprised at what some people, even on this very forum, will tattoo on themselves. Check out the Tattoo Thread in the Random Random Random forum. Its pretty shocking. Here is the link: http://themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=21928 Chris.
  17. This is great! I was thinking of starting a LA Non-Coaster PTR in the Random Forum, It's fun to see the city through other peoples eyes. Maybe I'll start it once I find my camera. I checked out Pinks, once, and I thought it was 'meh.' Taking the line into account, I will probably never be back. In-N-Out, though, is awesome, and I love it! Chris.
  18. I just found this little gem: ....I do think its a joke though. The poster only has two total posts. Chris.
  19. I am a smoker, and a fan of designated smoking areas. SFMM is my home park, and they have done a really good job adding smoking areas. In fact, I almost think there are too many!!! I dont like smoking in front of kids, so the more secluded, the better. There is one near the entrance to Revolution that is literally right next to the Merry-Go-Round. This one is poorly placed. The ones near Roaring Rapids and Batman the Ride are well placed. Last time I went to DL I was a little disappointed...they only had two areas and they were literally a minutes walk from each other. It was funny reading this entire thread and seeing Elissa's comment about SFMM's policies back in 2005. I think they have done a great job stepping up enforcement as well as adding more areas around the park. Somebody mentioned that they would rather smell 'one than thirty,' but with the areas so spread out I dont think this becomes an issue. Ill stop babbling now! Chris.
  20. I, for one, was a fan of "Speakers in the parking lot Scream." I guess this is me saying that I think onboard audio would help the ride. The speakers were kind of silly, but it totally worked. Also, I dont think the ride is bad at all! Medusa is basically the premier ride at SFDK, and its basically the same thing. Because Scream is at a park full of monsters, I think that lowers peoples opinion of it. Any mid-size park would drool over having a Scream clone. I still say a really good flat ride needs to go down in that plaza, and maybe a game or two. It would really liven things up over there. Chris.
  21. This is almost as entertaining as the Title Fairy thread
  22. Seems to me a 'bikini wax' is totally unnecessary if men are required to cover up from knee to waist. Somehow this article does not seem very legit to me. Chris.
  23. ^ Clearly it does, because when the GP mixes up two rides that are essentially identical, its 'weird,' and therefore belongs in this thread. Chris.
  24. Unfortunately I am not going to be much help, but I just wanted to let you know that I'm glad you loved Yosemite!!!! There is nothing really like it on the east coast (or anywhere!), as that part of the nation has more rolling hills and flat areas as opposed to the mountains we have here on the west coast. You will find that the east coast is very GREEN, though, which I always find to be nice out there. As far as finding 'nature' check out www.nps.gov, which is the National Park Services website. They can provide a good start to finding our treasures.
