  1. ^ You know except for Power Tower which is about 70 feet taller than Wild Thing. If the park wanted to move Power Tower closer to say the Go-Karts or Excalibur they could have gone taller, but if you ever go to Flying Cloud you can see that Power Tower is in pretty much the exact line as one of the runways. They can go taller as long as it's not in the middle of the park.
  2. Essentially. Although I'm not sure putting a launch on a wooden structure would be a great idea, but then again I didn't think a wooden coaster with barrel rolls was realistic either and look at Outlaw Run. So I suppose anything is possible.
  3. Islands of Adventure Epcot Busch Gardens Tampa Disney's Animal Kingdom Disney's Hollywood Studios Sea World Orlando Six Flags Over Texas Frontier City Six Flags Fiesta Texas Sea World San Antonio I'm hoping to get a chance to hit up the Galveston Pleasure Pier as well, but it all depends on vacation days and such.
  4. ^ It's a neat idea, but the train is moving so fast through the tunnel with so much noise that I don't think it'd ever get noticed. I suppose a tunnel could be constructed around a MCBR where you slow the train down to a crawl so you could get the rattle effect, but I wonder if that'd just make the ride mosey around the rest of the course at a leisurely pace?
  5. Before Timberland Twister (or Fairly Odd Coaster as its referred to now?) it was probably the most intense ride in the park, but honestly no big loss. I'm glad I got a chance to ride it, but it was generally a ride I tended to skip in recent visits.
  6. Shane, Based on your experience how often did the city of Santa Clara kill projects like this and provide roadblocks versus a lack of "want" (for lack of a better word) from Paramount to invest in big attractions the park?
  7. Steel: Top Thrill Dragster (Cedar Point) Wood: Son of Beast (Kings Island)
  8. You won't need to. It all depends on bleeding off speed before you get to it, and you wouldn't need to wait until the end of the ride to do it. If you've ridden a hyper think of how fast you go over that next tall hill, usually not very fast so provided you don't start the inversion at the bottom of a big drop then you're fine. A designer can easily throw in a barrel row at the top of a hill which can then lead into a a big loop or whatever you want to do.
  9. Instead of being short for Giga Coaster maybe its short for Giggity, a ride based on Quagmire?
  10. The reason for the fire deal is the drought conditions in Arlington right now, same reason some towns are even going to do fireworks for 4th of July. DFW Metro needs some rain BADLY
  11. ^^No, I think you've hit the nail pretty firmly on the head. From everything I hear, its a pain for CGA to do anything new at the park because of the city.
  12. Hey, I'd have no issue if my home park got an invertigo. Granted, they're not mind blowing, but they are fun.
  13. I wonder if there won't be a significant discount given to schools for this. X amount of dollars to do this per class or whatever. Seems like it might be another selling point in getting the school to do that for their field trip instead of a different activity.
  14. Sadly, this doesn't surprise me if true. I've seen far too many guests jump into restricted areas to retrieve hats or other items that they pull out of their pockets after a ride operator had asked them to put it away. For some reason people don't use common sense when it comes to this stuff, and I can't fathom why.
  15. You'll be able to renew at any park, from the sounds of it, and they are able to just use the picture you had last year. And if they just scanned the card, then your processing for the next season is already finished.
  16. According to the 3rd Quarter Cedar Fair conference call it sounded like the goal of selling Worlds and Valleyfair was that it would allow them to continue to pay off debt as well as maintain the distribution, but that what if anything that was being offered wasn't enough to satisfy the goal. That's what I got out of it anyway. I think it would be a little premature to jump to the conclusion that they were going to go bankrupt. Perhaps the concern was/is that when refinancing issues come up in a couple of years that they might get hit with a non favorable interest rate, which even in a decent economy (knock on wood) would still limit their ability to pay out a distribution, and thus the stock might not seem as lucrative to potential investors. Complete speculation on my end as far as their concern goes though.
  17. /\ But Cedar Fair never did file for bankruptcy, they were purchased by another company. Two different things.
  18. ^Why do you have to rain on someone's parade? Just because a person has a differing opinion on something that you don't care for doesn't mean that they can't enjoy it. Why not let people be happy?
  19. Renegade has been back up for a couple of days now, I was just there yesterday
  20. ^Not to quibble, but Valleyfair has never had Camp Snoopy. But you're right with Half Pint Park and the Bearenstein Bear Country it wasn't a huge loss to lose tot town. Especially considering most of the activities rides got moved to either Bear Country and Half Pint Park. The one major difference I can remember is Rails which used to be where Mad Mouse currently resides, very similar to Wildcat at CP. The capacity was horrible, but it was a fun ride. I also remember a petting zoo where Hydroblaster currently resides. Kind of similar to CP's if you've ever been there. I have a few old pics of the Games Midway where Trabant (Now Wheel of Fortune) used to reside (RipTide is there now) and it definitely looks much improved. Basically I just echo a lot of sentiments that others have mentioned. In terms of World Class Coasters, I think the park has one now with Renegade, and Wild Thing used to be in that category, and it's still a very fun ride. The best thing about the park is the atmosphere. It's laidback, and really it's just a great place to be. It's got a great "feel" to it.
  21. Looks good, can't wait for the progress on the Renegade trains.
