  1. ^ Dude, you might need to re calibrate your expectations. If you think a seasonal Six Flags park is going to be close to Disney level going into the park then I think even with the winter season ride closings you were going to be disappointed.
  2. Rode the Texas Giant a couple of weeks ago with the new procedure and I'm going to echo a lot of similar statements, everything seemed to run amazingly smooth. As long as they have someone controlling the line into the station I don't think the summer crowds would pose any more of a problem then the winter ones.
  3. So if I understand correctly you're upset that the park is taking a ride that sucked and turning into an enjoyable experience? It's hard to take you seriously if you consider the helix after the tunnel to be shortening the ride by almost half.
  4. Revisiting SFoT SFFT New Galveston Pleasure Pier (Possible) Six Flags Over Georgia (Possible) Elitch Gardens (Possibe) Getting married this upcoming year and spending a little over a week in the Caribbean has pulled the brakes on the number of parks I usually hit. My fiance and I are trying to hit up every Major League Baseball park and airfare to Atlanta and Denver is usually pretty cheap out of DFW so we might try and sneak a weekend getaway and throw in a park wherever we end up.
  5. It was a decently productive year comparatively at the VFFan household as far as parks were concerned. This year we hit up: Sea World Orlando Islands of Adventure Busch Gardens Tampa Universal Studios Florida Disney Hollywood Studios EPCOT Animal Kingdom Sea World San Antonio Six Flags Fiesta Texas Valleyfair Six Flags Over Texas Frontier City
  6. Is anyone else concerned that with only a 1.5 million dollar invest that the entire investment is going to just go towards the engineering and rebuild of the part of the ride with the inversion and that the rest of the ride will remain relatively untouched?
  7. I think the basis for the "argument" that Mount Olympus marketing will be making is that theirs is all wood, whereas Outlaw Run (and Iron Rattler) will utilize Steel track and a wood frame.
  8. I agree that Whedon would be a great fit for one of the new movies, he's signed to do The Avengers sequel which is supposed to be released in 2015 as well so I think he's tied up. However, one name that hasn't gotten a lot of mention that I think would do awesome is Joe Johnston. I thought he did a good job with the Captain America movie and he was one of the Art Directors on Empire Strikes Back (He came up with the Boba Fett design)
  9. I drove by today and it's been dismantled. On a related note, Texas Chute Out has had all of it's cables removed and folks were working on the base of the ride.
  10. You can contact them without working for a park. They might just not jump through a lot of hoops to send you stuff unless you're actually interested in purchasing their wares.
  11. Not sure if anyone cares or not, but I drove by the park this morning and saw that the loop and Cobra Roll have been removed. From what I could see, it looked like the two lifts were the only thing that remained (obviously the chains have already been removed from said lifts).
  12. I rode it back in the spring of 2005 and remember thinking that it didn't seem all that rough, (it wasn't smooth, but nothing horrible) but that the ride seemed pretty boring outside of the first drop and the loop. Personally, I think if you've ridden a big Summers & Dinn coaster (Hercules, Mean Strean, etc) it had a similar vibe to it.
  13. Drove by again today and noticed that one of the parachutes (without it's basket) was at the top of the Chute Out, so I think they might doing some cable work on that one. Also saw that more of Flashback has been taken down. The middle part of the Cobra Roll is now pretty much removed and I wouldn't be shocked if the majority of the ride was down by this weekend.
  14. Swung by the park over lunch this afternoon and took a couple of pictures. What's tough to see if that all of the track that goes through the station is gone and the first half loop and part of the corkscrew making up one half of the cobra roll was gone (if that makes sense). They seemed to be pretty careful in how they were taking the tracking pieces apart. Sorry for the poor picture quality, the pics were taken with the camera on my blackberry Boomerang Deconstruction More Boomerang Deconstruction
  15. FYI, they're progressing some more today on Flashback. I drove by on 360 this morning and saw they had a small crane going to town around the ride. Depending on how things go, I may swing by on my lunch break.
  16. ^Are you suggesting that parents with kids that "like" KD on Facebook aren't part of that facebook?
  17. I drive by the park four times a week for work and noticed that there isn't a visible crane next to either of the rides and that the cables on the Chute Out are still attached. (Not sure if the carriages are still attached to said cables though). If I was a betting man I would guess that most of the park's maintenance team is probably going 100 miles an hour getting the Halloween event organized and squared away.
  18. Good to hear that there's plenty of room for future expansion!
  19. The same video is part of our announcement post: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1221857#p1221857 Whoops, not sure how I missed that.
  20. Just saw this video posted and hadn't seen it yet anywhere else which shows more of the ride's layout.
  21. I like how the first drop transitions into the section under the station and then into the "twister" section of the ride. Looks like a fun ride and something I need to add to my "need to ride" list.
  22. I just hope they actually re purpose the empty strip mall next to Flashback into the actual park proper. If it's a Starflyer one year and a new coaster next year, I'm sure not going to complain.
  23. ^The dumplings? I've heard of the Lemon Chill Guy, but I didn't know different parts of Asian cuisine was handing out insights as well. Oh, well. You learn something new everyday
  24. ^I have a sneaking suspicion that there's already plans in the works to re purpose that area which doesn't include a coaster.
  25. ^Yep, plenty of room (height wise anyway)
