The Edge was by the far the scariest body slide I have ever ridden. I've been on Dropout at Raging Waters in San Dimas. I felt that those paled in comparison to the Edge. Like DegoRed was saying, you would come out of the helix so fast that the drop was out of control. I recall being underwater for a good amount of time in the runout. It felt highly unsafe.

Wild Rivers Waterpark older rides

It was about seven years ago so I do not remember. I just looked at a postcard, and they didn't look too out of the ordinary -
Wild Rivers Waterpark older rides
Perilous Chris replied to Ace o' Spades's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've ridden both sides (The Edge and the Ledge). I found the Edge to be the scariest waterslide I have ridden. What was interesting is that in order to ride you had to put your hands behind your head and leave your legs unlocked unlike the standard body slide form. I met a guy who apparently rode with his hands and legs crossed and his hand was bleeding. Nothing serious though I never rode the updated version, but hopefully this helps. The Ledge was the side with the shallow drop and a see through tunnel at the end. It was a little less intense the Edge, but still very fast. The Edge was the side with the steeper open drop. By the time you reached the drop, you would be going at such a high speed you would get some ejector airtime. Being that it was pitch black, I remember seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, closing my eyes and screaming. I usually don't scream on rides. It truly felt like I was going to fly off of it, and the speed had a very out of control feeling. -
Amazing water slides

Has anyone ridden the enclosed black snake summit body slides at Six Flags Hurricaine Harbor? If so, how are they? -
Supreme Scream at KBF: It stalled at the top Colossus at SFMM: Stalled on the break run Superman at SFMM: We overshot the station on the way back and were stuck for about 10 minutes. They told us we could get a free ride. It launched and slowed down before the tower. While we only rolled back and forth a little, I found that pretty nerve racking.

I remember when I was six, I used to collect theme park brochures. A few I actually still have. That picture of the Electric Rainbow, now Grinder Gearworks was in one. It was great seeing the early advertisements for Knotts, one even featuring the Fiesta Wheel. -

I have yet to attend a TPR meet or go on a group trip. The past couple years have been a little crazy. I must say that I really do enjoy reading the boards here as well as all the trip reports. You really learn a lot about travel as well the amusement/ride industry. I'm thankful to Robb and Elissa for dedicating so much of their time to this great activity! -
Wild Rides in Water

I have never flipped a raft or an intertube while on a slide. It may sound weird, but my biggest fear is getting stuck. This happened when I was a kid on the enclosed waterslide at Anaheim Golfland. Ever since then, enclosed waterslides make me a little nervous. I still enjoy them though. -

I live in SoCal, and I have been to Magic Mountain plenty of times during the week and had pretty good experiences unless X is running one train, or a ride is new (i.e. Tatsu). I went once on a Saturday in April, and the rides we rode without a flash pass were Flashback, Gold Rusher and Freefall. I would have to have some very eager friends to get me to go on a Saturday again, and this was in April. -
Rides you won't do again

KMG Experience: This is somewhat of a contradiction as I thought it was truly an amazing flat ride, but a little too much action for me. Hard Rock: An all out claustrophobic miserable flat ride experience. Rotors, Gravitrons and Roundups. The Liquidator at Wild Rivers (RIP): Ejector airtime on a body slide is not my cup of tea. Camelot Golfland Waterslides in Anaheim: I am sure it is just me, but for some reason that whole setup gave me a pretty uneasy feeling. -
I'll first start by saying that not all kids are like the ones being mentioned here. Many are fine. That being said, I've noticed an escalation in attitudes from todays youth. When I was younger, I would have never thought of cutting in line, let alone talk to an adult like that. Growing up, we were taught courtesy and politeness. I think many kids (not all) these days are taught to believe that the world caters to them. I do not think Jason was wrong at all. One time at Buena Park Mall, I was getting a slice of pizza. This girl behind me wanted parmesan cheese. Instead of saying excuse me, she just reaches across where I am standing and gets the chain in my pizza. I felt like asking if her parents raised her in the jungle? Another time, I was riding La Revolucion at KBF, and these teenagers were having a gay old time spitting while the ride was in motion. They ended up spitting on a guy who just was not in the mood. He shouted "I'm gonna beat the s**t out of you f***ing punks when the ride is over." He ended up keeping his cool, but the teenagers were in utter shock. I think they were suprised that somebody would actually call them on their s**t. Kind of off topic, but I have been cutting back on my Disneyland visits a little lately. It seems anytime I go anymore, it is more of a headache than fun.

Death of Small Waterparks
Perilous Chris replied to RollerC's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That is Rock-a-Hula. I do not know the full story, but I believe that they have been open on and off with various financial issues. It looks as though they have a good selection of slides. -
Death of Small Waterparks
Perilous Chris replied to RollerC's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This is kind of off-topic, but I live in Orange County California and I have noticed a few family fun centers dismantle their waterslides. In example, there used to be a few Rollersplash sled rides. There was one at Bullwinkles "now Boomers in Fountain Valley," and another at the family fun center next to Camelot Golfland in Anaheim. For some reason I am suprised that Camelot Golfland still has their slides. A strange case was the waterslides located at Golf N Stuff in Downey. These were used in the first Karate Kid movie and it turns out that they only ran for a couple of years. They sat there standing but not operating until 1996. -
Height Limit Horror Story
Perilous Chris replied to hbclarendon's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ I am just under 6'5" and about 170 lbs. Do you think I would have a chance of making it on that ride. I was thinking about going to CP during the summer, but that is a big concern for me. Not that I am trying to put you on the spot or anything. -
Coaster seat fit guides?

Does anybody know why the Deja Vu's have the 6'4" maximum height requirement? -
Question about Impulse Coasters
Perilous Chris replied to AT0527's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Quick question: I am a tiny bit over 6'4" in shoes. Does anyone know how strict SFMW is with the height limit on V2? I've ridden Deja Vu before. Also, do tall people have trouble with impulse coasters in general. I have yet to ride one, but I know they do not have retracting floors like other inverted rides. -
Breaking news! Vekoma discovers.....
Perilous Chris replied to BDG's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It would be nice if they could somehow fit the OTSR version on the GIB. I don't know how plausible it would be, but if these can can accomodate larger adults, than maybe they could get rid of the maximum 6'4" heigh limit. -
Worst Coaster Ever?
Perilous Chris replied to Mind Eraser's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
My vote goes to the now defunct Windjammer at KBF. Aside from being rough and low capacity, it was extremely unreliable. All that for a cruddy little coaster with no elements, exepct a 70 foot first drop, a loop, and undbanked turns with OTR's. I was so thrilled that night I drove by and saw pieces of track missing. -
I would have to go with Deja Vu and X. I was not scared before riding Deja Vu, but I found the first spike to be one of the most intense elements on a coaster. In regards to X, it felt as though I was going to fall out. I have yet to lift my hands on that ride. Not to mention out of the five times I have ridden it, I have pulled a muscle twice.

Another silly flat ride fear...
Perilous Chris replied to Movieguy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ That must be a very old photo. For those that don't know, the Loop Trainer Flying Machine "the park's enterprise," was removed to make room for XK-1 "Intamin flight trainer," which was later removed to make room for Supreme Scream. I never rode it when I was younger because I was too scared, and I was quite young at the time. I really wish they had one in So Cal, or somewhere close by. -

Does anybody know where the closest enterprise to Southern California is? I have been wanting to try one of those forever, and I have yet to see one at a traveling carnival or fair. Both KBF and SFMM removed theirs quite some time ago, and I heard that PGA removed theirs as well. -
^ They are very good live. I saw them on their Counterparts tour.
