  1. Please don't start this again. PLEASE. That's overthinking it WAY too much.
  2. ^Thats where GateKeeper and Magnum are at for the most part. 35-45 seconds of load and unload time at proper interval. More than 30 seconds, yes, but GateKeeeper has 32 passengers and Magnum has 36, compared to the 24 passengers mentioned in the article. Yes, it's possible. Yes, it happens. Yes, I've worked GateKeeper when we achieved such times.
  3. Wrong side. This was in the article also........Make sure you get your last rides in on the last few family rides remaining before they're removed after this year. Turnpike cars, Cadillac Cars, dodgem, and calypso will be removed to make room for this new ride! No, it was not in the article. It was said in a comment from someone who just can't handle that parks have to change in order to survive.
  4. The last year it ran all six trains was either 2002 or 2003. One of those.
  5. ^A lot of these coasters didn't use to have air gates, loose article bins, seat belts (in some cases), and restraints weren't required to be physically checked, just visually. Dispatching intervals, while quick, were very easily obtainable. This doesn't apply to all rides way back when, but it does for some.
  6. If you think Magnum is rough or uncomfortable, particularly on the airtime hills, just tighten your seatbelt as tight as you can. That's seriously the secret to making this ride incredible and thigh pain-free. Magnum is my favorite coaster at CP and this is why!
  7. I never have any headbanging on Maverick because I lean with the turns. It means you have to hold on for most of the ride instead of putting your hands up, but it doesn't really bother me at all. Zero headbanging. Zip.
  8. I really like this concept. I can definitely see this being easily marketed to coaster fans as well as the GP, especially with the $30 price range. One thing that I think would be very neat to see is certain sections of larger coasters. For example, JUST the tower of Top Thrill Dragster, or even just the first drop of a major coaster. It keeps the size of this item small enough, as well as dimensions that aren't so awkward that it could be a great desk or shelf decoration. Love it!!!
  9. So I guess I'm the only one on here that visited the park and actually had an incredible time? And since I work at an amusement park, it's easier to nitpick and judge how another park is ran, but I LOVED SFNE.
  10. Say what you want about the ride, but Millennium Force always gets a huge positive response from every train when it arrives into the station.
  11. The second Saturday is usually busier than opening day. Not sure why that is, but it's been like that for the past 3 years at least.
  12. ^^^If the lady didn't raise the issue until the train had already stopped in the station, maybe already loaded a few guests, then I can understand sending it empty. Some parks have policies such as not having operators check restraints until gates are closed, not re-opening gates, etc. It's actually very possible that if the issue of not wanting to ride red train wasn't brought up until the very last second, then the best decision was to send it empty and have ONE row of riders wait a few extra seconds for the next train, instead of making EVERYONE in line wait for them to find riders to fill the row, possibly re-opening gates, etc., before sending the train. That doesn't get maximum efficiency, but it increases it as much as possible in a capacity-harming situation. In a perfect world, the lady would have brought the issue up earlier and found 2 riders to take her place instead. But this isn't a perfect world.
  13. Any idea where the supports are manufactured? In 2012, I passed S:UF supports heading west on I-80 somewhere in Nebraska or Iowa.
  14. Leviathan, when the crew is working well pumps trains out every 45 seconds. Is Gatekeeper that fast? It's less than that. Also, that 45 seconds is a load and unload time and doesn't include when the trains are entering and exiting the station. If a train was dispatched every 45 seconds, leviathan would have over 2,500 riders in an hour which isn't even physically possible. On a good day with a good crew, GateKeeper can hit 1600-1700 pph or even more.
  15. How are loading times a problem? You don't have to adjust each seat like you would with a B&M stand-up coaster. Get enough ride attendants to operate the ride and to hustle a little bit and pretty much any B&M could pull a fairly high hourly throughput. This is why GateKeeper is my favorite ride to work at CP. It's very fast-paced and a real people-eater. It's about the highest capacity coaster at CP (up there with Magnum) and gets more riders than Leviathan or Behemoth can at CW.
  16. Hey now. GateKeeper still gives more rides than any other ride in the entire park. Enthusiasts might not like it, but the GP goes nuts over it. Not as much as Millennium Force, but it's definitely a ride that people get pretty disappointed if it's closed. Wind is usually an issue this time of year. This is my 3rd year living here and I can say that going into fall/winter has always been cold, rainy, and windy. More-so wind this year rather than rain, but high winds are nothing out of the ordinary in October, nonetheless.
  17. ^Considering the park really isn't that busy at all right now, that's actually a huge line...
  18. ^They're probably getting as much done now as they can before winter comes. Winters are brutal up here and they're even worse on the peninsula than they are just a few miles inland.
  19. It's pretty amazing to see how one person guesses the state of NJ didn't approve it, then everyone just flat out assumes the same thing and then becomes upset that the state didn't approve batman backwards, even though six flags never said that it was gonna happen anyway. You can't make up situations then get upset and treat them as reality.
  20. Mantis was designed to run 3 trains, but only runs 2. So yes, adding a 3rd train would increase capacity.
  21. Shouldn't be too bad. The park is only open from 10-8 in anticipation of lower crowds. This last week has been pretty great with minimal lines.
