  1. Don't feed the troll. CP's marketing team is the best. They don't even need to have a YouTube channel where they give us updates on the park, yet they work for hours on a single video. I'm subscribed to tons of different parks and CP's is the only one where I'm always excited when a new video comes out.
  2. Are they only running one side? Then I could understand if the wait was that long. Full queues with both sides operating and a good crew is only about 20-30 minutes. In 2012, we had full queues and a line stretching on the midway to the snoopy bounce and it was about a 45 minute wait. I've also noticed severe over-estimates on queue length this year, at least according to the apps. Unless only the red side is operating, I doubt Gemini had an hour and a half line.
  3. They are very similar indeed. But as I said, policy and procedures have changed. I suppose it's still possible, but not exactly easy to rearrange like that. The winds have also died down recently (as they were expected to) which is why no one would have got sent to operate other rides.
  4. ^In 2012, they did that once with Mantis on a Friday night. Dragster had zero chance of opening so they all went to mantis. However, back then, a lot of the Friday night employees were experienced leads, and therefore, could be easily and quickly trained, even if it's just in a simple entrance or fast lane host position. Plus, a lot of them had actually been at mantis before so it was pretty easy. However, times have changed. New policies and procedures have added up over the years and it's probably just not possible to send a crew to a different location and rearrange the staffing of the entire park because of it. I absolutely agree with you that they should rearrange as such and open a ride capable of running. I wish it was possible to do so. I'm especially biased towards Rougarou too. Haha. EDIT: it's also entirely possible that they expect the winds to die down. CP would open a ride if they could, even if it's only an hour before park close.
  5. I don't think anyone's complaining about it. It's just fun speculation on what it could be. I think it would be awesome to see the first complete revamp of a wood coaster into an even better wood coaster. It doesn't change the ride experience if it's topper track or I-box, so I'm excited either way! I think there's speculation on which type it is because this is Cedar Point, which is known for breaking records, and it seems like CP has a great opportunity to make the world's [insert statistic]est wooden coaster, in true CP fashion. Could they make the tallest and fastest hybrid coaster? Yeah, absolutely! Could they instead make the tallest and fastest wooden coaster? Yes! Either way, it's going to be a great ride, it's just fun to speculate on whether this could be the biggest and best wooden coaster in the world.
  6. They could name it the Sparkling Fluffy Rainbow Bunny and I wouldn't even care. I'm just way too excited to have an RMC at CP.
  7. ^You don't have to believe me if you don't want to. But I only spent most of 2015 at that ride, spending months with the manufacturer representative and programmers, as well as a few of the decision-makers in corporate. When you work in a park, there's really only so much information you're allowed to share with others. Some of it's a grey area, this being one of those times. I don't work there anymore so I really don't have anything to lose, but I also respect those I worked with who gave me the opportunities to learn as much as I did in my time there, especially last year, and I don't need to share every detail about the park if I don't want to. I enjoy being able to answer some questions or provide insight on things some people may not know on here, but I don't see the need to take 4,517 pictures, alert the media and provide a press release, and phone numbers and email addresses of every source.
  8. ^I've been wondering that as well. While there's no doubt in my mind it's gonna be a great ride, I've been curious to know if CP will be able to claim wooden coaster records, keeping up with their record-breaking additions. When I first saw the track, I thought it could just be for the transfer area, as it's all just straight track. Mantis cost 12M, the conversion to Rougarou was 2-3M from some reports. It was significantly more than that. I'm not gonna discuss the details of it, but it was a larger investment than people make it out to be. It's enough money that I don't consider 2015 as an "off-year" at CP in terms of investment totals.
  9. ^Fridays and Sundays are dead. Avoid Saturdays at all costs. Friday has limited ride availability (almost everything is open though) and Sundays don't have the outdoor haunts.
  10. ^Yes, lots of people in the area have Monday off, resulting in huge crowds this weekend. It's pretty unreal how busy the park gets this weekend. Hours are extended tomorrow too.
  11. I can seem them now. Thank you!!! I'm visiting Efteling for the first time next year so I'm anxiously watching this project.
  12. Am I the only one who can't see any of the pics posted recently in this thread?
  13. ^It's a budget airline so you get what you pay for, but if I can fly across the Atlantic for $200 RT, I'm probably going to have very, very few complaints. I brought it up as KBrylczyk mentioned a weekend trip.
  14. ^Check out WOW airlines. It's a budget airline out of Iceland and you can find extremely cheap flights to Europe... Sometimes as low as $200 round trip. They fly out of NYC.
  15. CP is paying very little for it. And with what they're charging for tournaments, they're gonna make a killing from it. From Sandusky Register
  16. Wait. You mean to tell me that when someone takes a poor resolution picture in poor light across a parking lot with a crappy camera phone zoom, that the picture is photoshopped because it comes out... PIXELATED?! CALL THE NEWS. THIS IS BIG!!!!! Get over youselves, guys. The picture is real. I've already driven by it several times and declined to take my own pictures as l'm not going to walk across their parking lot, as that could absolutely be considered trespassing. Plus, even though I don't work for the park anymore, I really don't want to give away some secret that may have accidentally leaked. Not like it matters though, as it would probably be deemed photoshopped as well, even though I would gain absolutely nothing by editing a picture in a program I don't even own.
  17. Well I'll obviously visit CP a couple of times, as I can literally see Valravn from my living room and hear Raptor from my porch. I've already booked a flight to Germany next year for a two-week Europe trip! We plan on visiting Europa Park, Holiday Park (if we can figure out how to get there), Phantasialand, Efteling, Hansa Park, Tivoli Gardens, Liseberg, Grona Lund, and PortAventura! Hopefully I can make it to Carowinds too.
  18. To everyone complaining about Maverick, I305, Skyrush, etc. not being in the top ten while a few B&Ms did... It's completely irresponsible of you to dismiss others opinions because it's not personally what you think it should be. Any "best" anything is 100% opinionated and some people are going to have a different opinion than you. And considering that the GTA's are figured out by voters and not just a team of a 3-5 enthusiasts, clearly these rides are popular. Look, I'm a die-hard B&M fan. This is from a rider standpoint and an operations/construction/computer standpoint. I've spent a decent amount of time with B&M reps and the way these rides are designed and built is nothing short of incredible. Everyone here is absolutely entitled to their opinion to disagree with me and say that they prefer Intamin rides. And you know what? I'm not gonna say your opinions are a joke because of it. You also need to consider that everyone constructs their top 10 differently than others. For me, my number one coaster is Outlaw Run, then Cannibal, followed by Boulder Dash, El Toro, and Phantom's Revenge. However, B&M still remains my rides of choice and my number one favorite manufacturer. They're extremely re-rideable, capacity machines (usually), aesthetically pleasing to watch, and just plain FUN. It doesn't need to be a balls-to-the-wall insane ride to make it fun. I could re-ride Goliath at SFoG over and over and over again all day long. But Maverick? Nope. I'd need a break. The seats can become a little uncomfortable and it's intense enough I'd need a break. You don't have to agree with me that I prefer a few B&M hypers over rides like Maverick and I305, but many people do feel this way and to discredit their opinion because it's not what you think it should be is wrong. EDIT: Here's a requirement to become a voter, straight from the GTA website: Intamin does poorly in pretty much each of those categories.
