  1. ^I agree, I thought the name was a great fit after seeing the layout with the POV. This looks like a really cool ride. I would love to give it a try in the future.
  2. ^^The coaster at Adventure Park in Maryland is actually a Wildcat model by Schwarzkopf. Not quite as intense as the other two Wildcats I have been on (Puyallup Fair and Cedar Point), but it was still a fun ride, and fit in very well for Adventure Park. I will bet the Kokomo's will benefit greatly from the addition of Serpent.
  3. The thing I love about the train at Cedar Point is Boneville! The best cheap animatronics! Busch Gardens Europe has some awesome views when crossing the bridge from the Italian section of the park to the German section.
  4. While I would love to add a theme park to a tour of Rome, there may not be many people who feel the same way. I don't know that it would be for the theme and it's location like Mechanic said, because I am sure there is enough of a difference between Modern Rome and Ancient Rome. I think more of the problem would be in the fact that most people have a full slate for their trips to Rome with the things they have already.
  5. 1. El Toro 2. Nitro 3. Kingda Ka 4. Batman 5. Medusa
  6. I plan to vote for Obama, although I will say there are a few things I disagree with that he stands for, gun control being the biggest. I married into a family that has more guns in their house than people, and if I thought along the lines I used to think a few years back, I would have been horrified about the idea. There was someone who mentioned before the idea of Law Abiding citizens not being able to protect theirselves and loved ones from those who obtain guns illegally. Melissa's dad and step-mom are bother very responsible with the guns they own, and use them for hunting and personal protection. Now why would I vote for him? I believe it was Wes who earlier said that he is kind of like a breath of fresh air or something like that. I feel that it would be great to have someone who has not been corrupted by lobbyists and the such, which was a reason I did not support Hillary, since a good portion of her campaign was covered by major Health Care industry companies. I also like the sense of personal responsibility that he speaks of. He gave a speech at one point where he said that there are too many young men who father children, and insted of being responsible, they run so that they can continue to be like boys. He also tells anyone that he has a meeting with that anything he says can be on the record, that nothing has to be held as secretive. As for McCain, I don't personally know how much I trust a guy that claims to be great in foriegn policy when he constanly mixes up different groups of people in the Middle East, or refers to Vladimir Putin as "The President of Germany" (For those who may not know, Putin is the President of Russia). I also don't care for how he dodges questions that may seem minor to some, but could pose a major problem to others. He was asked by a reporter a question about his vote on what I believe was medicaid, for an issue that pertained to the lack of coverage birth control, while it does cover Viagra. His response was something along the lines of "Uh.......well, I would rather not get into that one." When the reporter asked why he voted against the coverage of birth control,he simply said "I do not recal that particular vote." I see a problem with this response as it shows his lack of willingness to disscuss the issue. Last thing I want to mention on this post is in regards to Mike Huckabee. He was the one Republican who caught my interest. He spoke of an idea for helping stimulate the economy was to add a lane each way on I-95. Someone on here before mentioned what the benefits of this would be, which included the added jobs for those doing the construction work, the possible new businesses that might open near by. Those construction workers would also eat lunch, so some of them may go to near by resturants for their meals. There are other benefits that could go along with this as well. I know that being a frequent user of I-95, it would be nice to have another lane of travel so that there would be some lower spots of congestion. Where Huckabee lost me was his Fair Tax Plan. While I am not sure where I stand on what kind of balance to have on progressive vs. regressive taxes, I know Huckabee's plan isn't it. What he was calling for was to eliminate the IRS and the income tax, and replace it with a 20-25% sales tax. He tried to sell the idea by saying that you wouldn't have to deal with the IRS anymore, and that you were not punished for making more money, an so on. But let us look at what would be the results of this plan. Say you want to buy a bottle of Coke, priced at $1.50. Add in the Fair Plan Sales tax (we'll say 20%) and it is now a $1.80 bottle of Coke. Cool, that isn't a big difference. Say you get a $300 game system, it is now $360 with the Fair Tax. Now say you want to buy a $20,000 car, under the fair tax it is now a $24,000. If you want to buy a $230,000 home, it becomes a $276,000 house. You also would pay more interest for the extra $46,000 to cover the taxes With the Fair Tax Plan, you are not "punished" for earning money, but rather "punished" for spending it. It also would make it much easier to put the Federal Government into a financial Crisis if people stop spending money. Personally, I am all for a National Monorail Network!!!!!! -Gary "was anyone else reminded of Mr Rogers when Huckabee talked?" T.

  8. ^I would agree with you if they did it where you walking into this new area, and it was a replica of the Sesame Street set with rides included, but since they are giving it a European Theme, I think it could work out pretty well. -Gary "I want a picture with Oscar the Grouch" T.
  9. Hey Big Mike, what kind of GPS do you have? I have a Garmin Nuvi 200, It thus far it has work very well for me other then one time when it said that a racetrack a friend of mine and I were going to was way on the other side of that town, the other time being while driving home one night from BGE on a route I normally do not take, it kept loosing signal. Glad to hear that you are having a good trip inspite of the occasional set backs. -Gary T.
  10. The only problem with that is the fact that all three of those states are in the top half for the nation, and those numbers are based on a per square mile basis. That just tells you how dense of a population there is in that area. The District of Columbia is hardly the most populated state/district in the nation, it just has a lot of people in a small area. I will agree though that Myrtle Beach wasn't the best choice of location. There really isn't a major city within a short distance of it where as the other major parks usually have an hour or less driving distance to the nearest major city.
  11. that was a fun little challenge, too bad my little Mel Gibson Conspiracy Theory about the positioning of the tabs on the bingo card was for not! Sounds like a good coaster.
  12. I don't think that this coaster is anywhere in the U.S., considering that earlier Robb said that it was "out there" and the mentioned fact that the site isn't necessarily in English. And the sad thing is I am supposed to be packing for our flight to Michigan tomarrow, yet I am glued to my laptop right now!
  13. they have the same pattern, just different colors.
  14. looking at the board, the row of slots second from the top is completly covered in red, where as the forth row slots are half covered. That is the only thing I can think of right now.
  15. Nice way to sneek a Joker reference in there Something like that with some decent airtime could be a nice addition to the park, although I still think it would be awesome to drive down I-77 and see a 200+ footer towering over the rest of the park.
  16. Looks like it is near Hurler, unless I am not recognizing the right coaster that is taken from. Anyone know when they are going to start taking down FSS for construction?
  17. Gotta love when people try to "fit in the group" when they were doing something they shouldn't have. My wife and I went to the Barack Obama speech here in Greenville, and we were actually close to the front by the stage, and these two frat-guys came up to the railing, and claimed to be volunteers, when they hadn't been there but for ten minutes, and they star telling those who were not volunteers to back away from the fence as only volunteers were allowed next to the fence. The best part though was that they did it because they wanted to get a newspaper article signed by Obama, but the only thing he would autograph since he had to get back on the road ASAP were copies of his books. A little bit of justice in my view. Anyway, back on topic. I kind of have to wonder what their intentions are if they are taking Avalanche apart already. I have a feeling the ride won't be in that same spot if they are taking it apart already. Usually, off season maintenance isn't started until later in the Fall, so I would think that may be out as a possibility.
  18. It's cool, easy to get mixed up since interstates generally follow the rule that odd routes are North/South, and even routes are East/West. I know I-440 that surrounds Raliegh is also North/South
  19. Thanks for the clarification on I-64, although I don't think it would be East on 664 to go towards Suffolk, but rather West if not South.
  20. Hey Jarmar, sorry for the late reply, but I hope this route helps you out for your drive home. When you leave Busch Gardens, head down on I-64 South. Once you get to the Hamprton area, you will want to take I-664 towards Suffolk (I believe it would be I-664 south). From there, you will want to get on US-58 at exit 13A. Stay on US-58 until you get back on I-95 heading towards Rocky Mount, NC. This is the same route I use to get to and from Busch Gardens with the exception that at Suffolk, I head south on US-13 to get back to Greenville. Hope this helps you save some time on your return home! Gary T.
  21. I think from the higher half of the ride you would be able to see the Grove pretty well, but then agian the only time I have been that high in the area, I was usually not taking in the sites sine less then two seconds ago I had gone from 0-80 in what seemed like a blink.
  22. I wonder if the Busch family bought the parks, would they keep the tie-ins with the Busch brand of Beers, or would that be dropped? I certainly hope that they do pursue the purchase for the parks.
  23. My guess is that the Red train hasn't quite broken in any new wheels that may have been put on yet. Sounds like it was a good time. I agree with you that Roar isn't really a rough ride in my opinion. I would, however, have no problems with them adding a set of Millennium Flyers on the ride.
  24. If you are going to BGE, I know of a route from I-95 through North Carolina you could use so that you wouldn't have to back track on I-64 from Richmond. Let me know if you would like to see it for consideration.
  25. I had a chance to see a game in 1997 against the Mets at Tigers Stadium, and I though it was a neat old place to watch a ballgame. We sat on the first deck out in left field and it was neat the way the top deck had a bit of overhang to the first level. In that game, Bobby Higginson had three homers, along with three other home runs for the Tigers as they won 14-0. A blow out of a game, but I still had a great time. It is a shame to see old ballparks go, but considering the state it was in when I drove by it this past December, It was not in very good shape.
