  1. The only time I have experienced a place being busy with its season opening was when I worked at Cedar Point. Any other place that was on or close to opening day was usually pretty dead. That could all be dependent on the weather too though. -Gary T.
  2. Would it be possible to give the park a generic music theme and keep the rides the same if the Hard Rock name is dropped? -Gary T.
  3. If they could do just one thing the same, keep Nights in White Satin as is, I will be thrilled! They could make any other changes they want I suppose that means that this discredits the ideas of a HRP coaster going to SFA or Carowinds -Gary T.
  4. Personally, I think Joker's Jinx is more intense than FoF because of the lack of a MCBR. Although as mentioned before, There is some sweet hangtime for the corkscrew on FoF. -Gary T.
  5. I won too! It is kind of funny though, because I never recieved a confirmation e-mail that I had even entered, so I thought I was SOL, guess not! -Gary T.
  6. Only the best for my last coaster! THAT'S RIGHT! It's a Python Pit!!! At Jeepers in Clinton Township, Michigan.
  7. Time will tell how the new managment does, although I wouldn't rely on them alone. I have been at a couple different jobs where "new management" was brought in, and nothing really changed, as the poor characteristics continue to influence the way things are in the store. Granted the has been the noticable improvement at SFMM with Jay taking the helm, and it could happen as well at SFA, but I would have to wait and see how it is through a good portion of the season before I went back. -Gary T.
  8. Hey, at least if they are only going to keep the waterpark open, at least they are adding attractions to it unlike CF with Wildwater Kingdom. I don't think they have added anything since the initial remodel. -Gary T.
  9. I agree on the careerbuilder ad, the Koala was the best part! -Gary T.
  10. I know the feeling, I had just sent a message to Elissa for the same reason as I have been working less with my teaching-intership, and Melissa's job was going to carry us through until I started teaching this August, but the economy finally caught up to us as well. These two are pretty awesome to make adjustments like this so that those affected can still have the opportunity to go. While my being able to go may not yet be set in stone, I at least feel that this could make a good difference in that final decision. I may be added to the list of Robb and Elissa butt kissers, but they have proven that they deserve the praise they recieve on this site. -Gary "I would gladly wear lip gloss while doing so" T.
  11. I would guess that it may be that your power company is a public entity like ours is here in Greenville. While it is ran by the city and not intended for profit, they still have to maintain the revenue to cover operating costs and expansions for new sub-divisions. Demand may play a bit into it, but I believe there are other factors as well. -Gary T.
  12. You could always use the shot with Katie Holmes, and above or below it, you could put "Everyone Comes To See The Big Mike Roadshow!", And have your official checklist on the back again -Gary T.
  13. At first I thought I would be 'Disney-ed out' if I did a trip like this, but as I thought about it, each resort for the most part has a unique park or attractions, and it would be cool to see the differences between cultures at parks that are supposed to have some similarity. The problem for me going in the near future would be the cost. I do plan on keeping a part time job or to begin tutoring once I start the teaching gig for my theme park-trip money, so if there is a Disney Around the World Sequel, then maybe I could tag along for that. -Gary T.
  14. I hadn't ridden it before, but I am not really too worried about it, especially if they do add a nice Hyper in it's place. I do agree though that cutting two water rides may not be the best idea, especially with that good old Carolina heat in the summer. -Gary T.
  15. ^Or how about when on a TPR trip, entrance to the park is done on a group ticket is it not? Those on the trip probably wouldn't get the credit for visiting the park in that case either, unless you and Robb set something up with the park ahead of time. -Gary T.
  16. ^It has been pretty well documented though that they are planning to go right into liqudation of the assets. While the rumor has been mentioned that there are some companies waiting to see if they can get the whole park at a cheaper price still, it seems more likely to be done for. -Gary T.
  17. I agree with Nicole's point in that the lack of ability to give an explaination for not renewing a pass isn't going to really help them improve the park. While it does have the section where one can rate their experience, the reasons for answering them in the manner that they did could have various reasons. They won't really now why unless they allow people the chance to explain. On a side note, I found it a little funny how they used the same site (Survey Monkey) as the school my internship is at when they did a climate survey. -Gary T.
  18. This coaster really is pretty awesome looking! Especially from the top of the lifthill. I am still jelous of my co-worker who is doing the KI/CP combo visit. -Gary T.
  19. I sense a small castle reference??????? -Gary T.
  20. Did you find a span of time where the parks would be open along with the fair? I ask since I tried to see about doing something similar one weekend in September to go to the fair and visit family, but most, if not all the other parks you have listed are either closed or on weekend only operation when the Puyallup takes place. If you can get them to open the coasters for the trip, that may be a good plan, but then again, you loose the experience of the whole fair, which I feel is THE best fair anyone can go to, especially for Cow Chip Cookies! -Gary T.
  21. Lord Stanley's Cup is pretty awesome. I got a pictre taken with it back when the Hurricanes won it in 2006, and a buddy of mine who is wheelchair bound was actually handed the cup to hold (Lucky Bastard!). Besides the actual trophy being better, the fact that each player get to take it home or wherever they wish for a few days is even better. What other trophy can you drink alcohol from and be pround of it? -Gary "What other trophy can you drink alcohol from and be pround of it?" T.
  22. If they did a soft opening, would it be possible for that to happen around mid-april, or would it be more likely to happen at the end of april? -Gary T.
  23. Cedar Point is really the only one that has a decent set-up for out of the local area employees. Some other parks have limited housing or subsidize the cost of housing for you, but I think a majority of them would leave you on your own for housing. I know when I applied for jobs the first year I worked at Cedar Point, I tried Dorney Park, Morey's Piers, Hersheypark and a couple Six Flags parks. The only one I recall offering assistance with housing was Dorney, but that was about 5 years ago, so my memory may not be completly correct. -Gary T.
  24. To SFA's credit, they do get some popular acts into the park, especially for this comming summer since Miranda's popularity is on the rise with her show on Nick. When they do the concerts at the park, how long are they generally? I recall going to SFGAdv back in 2006 with my younger sister, and Lifehouse performed that same day, yet the concert started only 30 minutes before closing. -Gary T.
  25. This year has not treated my "Parks to go to" list very well. I wish I was taking off more places because of visiting them, and less because of closing up shop Oh well, that's the way it goes sometimes -Gary T.
