Comprehensive Coaster Credit Conversation
dpxtreme replied to Shockwave's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Like a lot of people have mentioned, I don't count credits. I go on the coasters for pure enjoyment. If I go to a new park for the first time, SFMM for example, I try to get on every coaster possible knowing that I'm not going to be back there for a while. I will not go out of my way just to get a new credit. -
I sure as hell felt it. It was in Alum Rock which is about 5 miles from San Jose. This is the first "big" earthquake I felt.

Crazy Sale at Kings Dominion!!
dpxtreme replied to pkdcoaster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think it's funny that they're selling Top Gun shirts at KD considering they don't have a Top Gun ride. -
I heard from reliable sources that the new coaster will be put in the land where the Whizzer once stood, and where the Imax (to be demolished) is now. Although Grizzly was voted the worst wooden coaster in the world, it is EXTREMELY popular to the families, because the height requirement is only 44". The line for it can get REALLY long during the summer.

Accodring to wikipedia, it says one of the possible reasons is that Six Flags owns the rights to the name "Great America". en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_America_%28California%29 -

Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said

I work at GA, and I get that all the time on the Endeavor (Intamin Looping Starship). I also work at Loggers Run, and at least twice a day I get asked, "Do we get wet on this ride?" Sometimes I politely tell them yes, other times I get sartastic and tell them, "Well, duh, it's a water ride." Not at an amusement park, but in my english class at school, some kid said, "I really want to go to Six Flags Orlando." I was like, WTF?! -

Six Flags vs. Cedar Fair
dpxtreme replied to RIP Psyclone's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^It's not like those are one of a kind rides you can't find anywhere else. Whizzer is probably the only ride I credit Six Flags for keeping, but even that kind ride is not fun anymore. Now I've never been to SFGam, but I always read that Yankee Clipper hardly ever stays open, so what's the point of keeping a ride and crediting the park for saving it, if they never keep it open?! Which leads me to the argument that Cedar Fair keeps their rides open (when it's not raining of course )! And where's Delta Flyer/Eagles Flight, or Yukon Yahoo!? Six flags doesn't save everything. And look at Great America in Santa Clara. Paramount's was on the verge of removing The Orbit (Enterprise) last season, and Cedar Fair came in and saved it. -
Ok, Survivor was new to the park in 2006, not 2002. And the last big coaster they have that's still standing is Invertigo, which opened in 1998. I think Cedar Fair is just watching how the park operates for the 2007 season, and what the needs are so they can imrpove the park starting with the 2008 season. And a side note, I think Boomerang Bay was a huge mistake for GA. They're great ideas for parks that have a lot of land, but when GA has hardly anymore land left, they should've utilized the old Stealth land with something open year round. I mean, when you have a small park that has no more room for expansion, why would you add a water park that's open from the end of May to early Sept.??

Six Flags vs. Cedar Fair

Another example of a SF park putting a trademarked ride into a themed area is at SFGam. Since when does Superman: Ultimate Flight have anything to do with the "themed" Orleans Place it sits in?? And what does Batman have to do with the Yankee Harbor "themed" area?? I've only been to SFMM and SFDK from the SF chain. And GA from the CF chain. SFMM takes the cake for the laziest and slowest ride-ops. Out of the two times I went to SFMM, there was only one girl ride-op at Ninja that was really cool and energetic. And at SFDK, I lost count of how many associates were on their cell-phone. GA also has a big cell-phone problem. Obviously SF wins when it comes to rides, not ride themeing, just rides. And no, parking lots don't count as themes *cough*Medusa-west, Scream!, Goliath, etc.*cough*. But Cedar Fair wins in every other category IMO. -

Great TR! Can't wait for the pictures. And not to be anal, but I noticed you don't have a rating for Scream!. Just something I noticed. -

And most of the ride-ops at Spongebob spins each car after they check the restraints anyways. -

^^^Read the top of the trip report. It said he went there on July 31st which was a Tuesday. -
Yeah, don't get me worng, Tatsu was awesome. Waiting in line was just a mess. We were getting drenched by the misters, the ride broke 3 times, they were only using one side of the station, the last 3-4 rows were reserved for flashpass which made the line even slower, and there were the switchbacks from hell. And nothing personal to the ride-ops for Tatsu, because i'm a ride-op myself, but they moved SLOW. We waited on the brake run for 10 minutes. Which is why I like Vekoma flyer trains SO much more. Thats just the last time I will wait that long for a ride, regardless of the ride.
