One thing to note is that a lot of the free parking places (Knoebels, Holiday World, Waldameer) are in the middle of BFE where property tax has to be a lot cheaper than Mason, Ohio where you have a decent sized school system to support. I agree that more parks should roll it all into one flat admission fee. Holiday World has a pretty neat trick with their price.

I remember discussing this in school... it was for either econ or political science, I don't remember. Anyways, we were talking about parking in Atlanta (fairly cheap city anyways) and on campus and such, and it costs a lot more than people would want to think. The figure tossed out was $1000 per space per year for maintenance..! Mind you, its more like $4-6k per space to build it (double or triple that for decks) in the first place, and about $3k just to resurface it Here's an interesting article I came across a while back... doesn't really apply in this situation but is a good read nonetheless. << never thinks parking it too much! There's also property tax, which ain't cheap.

Influenza Epidemic, affects parks and fairs.

It also might be because a new virus strain that is rapidly tearing through the human population is something to be concerned about. I do think panic is very premature when at this point the fear seems to be that the virus "could mutate into something nastier". -

This is true, which is why organizations like the WHO and CDC are concerned. But we have confirmed and suspected cases in the US and ZERO deaths. Mexico is the only place where there have been any fatalities so far. This ain't 1918 just yet. It's cause for concern, not panic. -

To put this in perspective, we *always* live under the threat of pandemic disease. There have been 149 suspected deaths in a population center of 22,000,000. It's tragic, but the regular ass flu kills a lot more than that each and every year. No need to panic just yet. -

I remember having to pay this silly fee-to-use-your-own-printer when I got my Six Flags pass from Wyandot Lake in 2006. It's a stupid fee, but Six Flags passes are the best pass deal in the industry. I haven't had to pay this fee recently because I've had SFMM just mail me my renewed passes every year. They really should just raise their prices $5 if they just want the extra money. Nobody likes being nickel and dimed.

Go for the SD880 instead of the SD890. It has a bigger LCD (3.0" instead of 2.5") and a wider zoom (28mm instead of 37mm). I've purchased two SD880s for relatives in the past few months. They're amazingly nice and the interface is the best I've ever seen on a point-and-shoot.

I was trying to get the restraint open so we could sneak one more ride in. Unfortunately, we just missed it. There was that brief train stack that I think cost us that last night ride. -

The comments on that news story are hilarious and surprisingly on point. Nagin is being an unrealistic ass. Does he really think he can sue his way into reopening the park? -
^An explanation is not an excuse. I voted with my feet that day and left early because everything had an unreasonably long line.

Actually, my ride was kinda lacking in airtime. It was there, but it wasn't like SFOG Goliath where you'd stay in the air well past the bottom of the hill. But I only had one cycle in the morning. Other reviewers reported that LSHOF warmed up later in the day. I'm willing to write this one off as just one cycle that doesn't amount to much. Even the mighty EGF reportedly runs better later in the day. Assuming that I can shake this obnoxious cold (the main reason I only got one cycle Saturday), we're going back Friday evening to ride nothing but LSHOF. -

^You queue for 16 different rows, which is good. Less chaos. -

^Walk down the right side of the fountains on International Street. Turn right at the Eiffel Tower. Wrap around to the left past Chick-Fil-A and you'll walk right into the queue. -

That's probably what all the line jumpers thought as they rudely pushed their way to the front. -
Don't larger people actually have an advantage in singing because of the larger pleural cavity? Isn't that why you see big opera singers?

We waited a little bit over three hours. We got into line at 8:30 where they were holding it by the dark ride. They probably didn't let us into the actual line until 9:15 or so at which point the line was past the Eiffel Tower down by Italian job. I posted my review shortly after noon. Honestly, there was a lot of French crunching going on in that initial queue. It was just a big mass of people, not an actual line, waiting behind the rope and many people didn't think much of pushing their way to the front.
