  1. I can think of about 30 parks I'd rather visit than Cedar Point. It's not ranting. It's just my opinion. I don't really care what the US-centric, biased-against-Disney Golden Ticket Awards say.
  2. Don't tell that to the Brit Crew!
  3. I eagerly await your review of HR^3.
  4. ^Credit runs are always a risk. We recently did a trip to the NE. Although we got every credit (except for the mouse they denied me on at Rye Playland for being too tall), we only got one cycle on SFNE Bizarro even though we had spent $93 or whatever on the Gold Q-Bot. We only spent 3.5 hours in the park. The Q-Bot allowed us to stay on schedule and get all the credits. It's just the chance that you take when you run a super tight schedule. You can get rained out, miss credits, run out of time at a park before you do everything you want to, etc. I imagine that SFNE got Bizarro working later in the day and if we had stayed around we could have had a ton more rides.
  5. ^I wasn't aware that people use water parks to teach swimming to their kids. Back in my day that's what the YMCA, local public pools, and the like were for. Guess I'm getting old.
  6. ^I'd like to do the TPR Scandi Trip every year. Great place!
  7. ^It could also just mean that they've been too busy running a large amusement park to take the time to figure out what they want to do with SOB. Or maybe they're waiting to hear back from their legal department. Etc.
  8. How do you reconcile these two statements? They seem at odds with one another. The sad fact is that there are a LOT of horrible parents out there who turn their kids loose on the world and expect everyone else to pick up their slack. Drowning is not something that takes place in an instant. It takes time. And thus this was most likely not the result of an instant of inattention, but rather gross negligence of the parent(s). It just sucks that the kid has to pay the ultimate price for their parents stupidity. I think we're going to see more mandatory life jacket policies for kids at water parks in order to protect the kids and parks from stupid parents.
  9. ^^Apparently not that absurd since MK is the most visited park in the world, by far.
  10. ^I'm going to assume that it might be difficult for him to going outside of peak travel season because he said "family of 5". Many people don't want to take their kids out of school just for a vacation. Still, 5 grand for 3 days sounds a bit high. I imagine you could do 5-7 days for that price and amount of people. You might have to cut out things like staying on property and eating at Jiko every night, but it's doable.
  11. I still struggle with this as well. Liseberg has Balder and excellence in every imaginable area. But Gröna Lund has character, the best park setting I've ever seen, excellent rides, and big ambition. I really loved how Gröna Lund seemed to be a bar/hang out joint for adults at night, instead of being just full of teenagers as most parks are. For now I'm giving a slight edge to Liseberg, but I think Gröna Lund might win in the future if their expansion goes well. Both parks are excellent and I want to go back RIGHT NOW.
  12. Naw, it was Leif Ericson. Vikings - 1 Degos - 0
  13. ^A written park policy does nothing to change the law (aka who is liable for what).
  14. ^^^Universal should be paying me to ride Simpsons.
  15. ^Note that we don't know what type of spiders are actually up at Cedar Point. My point is that spider bites can be very serious. Be careful, not afraid. Anyway, I'm sure the park will take care of any massive spider infestations. It's certainly not a reason to stay home.
  16. ^I don't think it's a matter of it being impossible to keep BBW running, but rather that the park has made a business decision to take it down. We've been given very little information as to why they made the decision. I'm a little sad to see the ride go and all, but it won't keep me from returning to BGE some day.
  17. Thanks for posting these photos of Europa at night. I've only been there during the day, but I'm sure it is amazing at night.
  18. ^^Maybe they were brown recluse spiders. Check out what happens when they bite humans: *** Not for the faint of heart *** http://www.ascendedhealth.com/brown-recluse/bite-picture.htm
  19. Liz & I rode Boulder Dash on July 23rd. I didn't notice any trims. The thing tore down the track for the entire course. It was strong ejector air right to the end. Of course, it was pouring down raining the entire time. Boulder Dash rain rides were some of the most intense coaster rides I've ever had. Based on these rides, I'd probably put Boulder Dash as my #4 behind Balder, El Toro, and Phoenix.
  20. I don't know how the ZacSpin would fit in at a "family" park. At least if you're talking about something as big as Insane. The forces are very, very high on that.
  21. Yeah, brissler, where are you going in Europe? Maybe we can suggest some parks to hit over there.
  22. Victim: This thread stole my time.
  23. Even though I doubt that it will happen, I've got my fingers crossed for a Mega-Lite. They are great coasters and it would be an awesome way for HW to "one up" Kings Island with a better steel coaster.
