NL Seabreeze Tight Fit Contest
dr.gumbo replied to dr.gumbo's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Just to make things clear, the deadline has been by one week. I repeat: THE DEADLINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED BY ONE WEEK I know sometimes its difficult to meet deadlines for numerous reasons, but this is the second time I've had no entries to a contest (the first time, I admit wasn't your fault but I gave you plenty of warning this time). -

That was the only other part that bothered me a little bit, too. I don't mean to sound harsh (especially since I can't make anything in No Limits that's close to this), but from my experience in other projects I've posted on YouTube, I find real criticism to be much more helpful and refreshing than "ZOMG ur teh best!" I completely agree, I'd take a harsh but honest review over a one that worships me any day. As nice as it is, it doesn't help me improve in any way. -

^ Only three. The other two count as Corkscrews. lol Yeah, I know the rolls were a bit excessive on this ride (it was pointed out by other people on other forums) so I'll make sure that my next ride will be a bit more varied as far as inversions are concerned. Thanks for the comments everyone! -

The Green Hornet (NL)

Err, I thought two of us told you that the ride's over supported before. Why didn't you listen to us. Also, you stole both the top hat and the over bank turn of other rides (and don't say you didn't, because you can easily tell) and stealing elements isn't cool. What was your work was, if I'm honest, rubbish. We want to see rides YOU made, not a bunch of elements other people have made stitched badly together. Your not going to improve if you continue doing this. -

^ Yeah, but from what I see you've got too many supports to hold the track up. Look at how frequent supports appear on this three tubed track and compare it with yours. You should only need that many supports if you have two tubed track like this. -
Positives -Nice use of some very original elements. -One things for certain, it isn't too slow. lol -Slightly fun. Negatives -The track shaping isn't good at all. Corners are too tight for the trains, valleys are too small to produce safe G's, and the banking transitions lacked continuous rolling to make the smoother and less jerky. You should look at real life coasters and study how their tracks shaped to improve your rides track shaping. -The helix's were inconsistantly shaped, circle shaped .3ds and loefets track shapes help a ton here. -Generally pumpy trackwork with over-the-top G's. Improving this just comes with practise. -The layout was taken far too fast to produce safe G's. -The supports were mostly pre-fabbed (which is just lazy) and inadequate. There were large sections unsupported and parts that were supported weren't done very well. Again, studying real life rides helps with this. -The ride fails the tunnel test. Just cover the whole ride in a tunnel and it will help you create safe clearances on the ride. -I felt the second lift was unneeded (the ride had quite a lot of speed before it and it probably could have made it back to the station without the lift, not that you 'should' need it) and it was poorly made (wonky peak at the top). I hope none of that discourages you, but if you follow it your rides will improve greatly.

^ Little bit of support over kill if you ask me. -
Thunder Road [NL]
dr.gumbo replied to KDCOASTERFAN's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
^ IMO you should 'never' need to do that to control the G's. Just keep working on the track and eventually you'll be able to control the G's more. Of course, it helps if the track is substantial smoother first. -

Nice report, hope you had fun! You said that Cornball was quite rough, was the ride having a bad day or is it ageing badly? -

Maurer Sohne Spinning Contest
dr.gumbo replied to Eric_Smith's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Yeah, by the looks of it, you won by default. lol I admit, I did a lousy job on finishing of the contest off. But really, did no-one else have anything to enter? If you do, it would be great to see what you've done, even if its not officially in the contest. Anyhow, congratulations on winning the contest and I'll try and see if I can get another contest up as soon as I can. -
Banshee (NL)
dr.gumbo replied to KDCOASTERFAN's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
You said you would straighten the lift out? The ride was 'very' pumpy if I'm honest. You had inaccurate and inconsistent shaping throughout and the forces were ridiculous. Also, the support work was very poor. You should look at real life rides and see how they are shaped and supported because it would help you improve your rides greatly. -

You need to straighten the middle of that lift hill. -
What Ride makes you Nervous the Most?
dr.gumbo replied to Thrillrider15's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ Ride's which make me nervous are big flat rides such as Drop Towers and Slingshots. Tall Coasters, I'm okay with, but tall flat rides... -

Its the 7th now, and the contest ended on the 2nd. Since I made a little boob there, I'll extend the entry time too the 9th of August. Count this as a little reminder since I forgot to give you one a week ago. -

Always sad to see a defunct park. For anyone who has ridden it, what was Idora Wildcat like?
