  1. May 18 : Movieland The smallest park of the 3 parks we visited but imo the most charming : although the crowds were minimal, there was a LOT of live entertainment all day around. I sometimes wondered whether Movieland has the right licences for all the names and characters in the park. It is a growing park and hopefully they will be able to add some major attractions & coasters in the next years. The park will then definitely will become a very interesting park. Here are the pictures, again in the correct order. Thanks for reading my TR's. Benny Movieland's waterpark Aquaparadise which opened the season the day after our visit. Medieval Times theatre ^ Actors making publicity for their Medieval Times dinner show. Jack Sparrow Batman theming Peter Pan stage At the end of the show, a Stallone look-a-like showed up. ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ Rambo action ^ Here are the 3 arrested visitors. The bad guys arresting visitors out of their seats. Rambo show actors ^ Scooby Doo ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ Magma : fantastic ride and effects. Terminator 2 : 5D I guess the fifth dimensions are the real actors in the show/movie. Dukes theming ^ ^ ... not a coaster. .. and this is ... ... coaster ...... This is a ... ^ Log flume in X-city colours. Weird plastic dinosaur theming in the X-city part of the park. Again the princess. Also Snowwhite was wandering around in the park but i don't have a picture of her. The officer meeting a princess. You enter a bunker where you see a submarine in the water. Suddenly an air attack starts and you have to run to the officer on the submarine and enter the submarine where the simulator is. Very well themed ride. U-571 Submarine simulator. ^ Stuntmen Academy. With nice cheerleaders. ^ From the backstage ride, you can see the backside of the Stuntmen Academy/Rambo show stadium. ^ 'Back to the backstage' ride : the train stops 3-4 times where they tell the story of Back to the future. Back to the future theming. Another show : Zorro. ^ In a dark maze under the ground, you have close encounters with Freddie Krueger, Hannibal Lector, ... There is even an onride picture taken with one of the actors. Imo the top attraction of Movieland : Horror House. ^ ^ Blues Brothers entertainment The Terminator ^ ^ ^ The new attraction : Tomb Raider Machine was not open yet. You could however get a free ticket to come back when it would be open (btw, Mirabilandia is doing the same) First show we did : Movie Magic. I do not recommend this show if you don't understand italian. And even if you do speak italian, i think the show is not worth while. Charming pay-desks. Movieland entrance
  2. May 17 : Gardaland Gardaland was only 2 kms from our hotel, so we arrived at openingtime. We were very surprised to see huge crowds and terrible lines for buying tickets. We did not understand why Gardaland had opened only approx 6 of 26 pay-desks with such lines. Once inside the park, we had to wait maximum 5 minutes for the attractions so the crowds inside the park were excellent. Coasterwise, this is not the best parc but there some other excellent attractions and great themings, sometimes even a bit overthemed imo. Here the pictures, this time in the correct order exit Mirabilandia. Only a pitty that the boats are poorly themed. ^ ^ You actually don't get really wet ... ^ Theming !! Certainly one of the best themed waterrides i've seen... ^ Fuga da Atlantide ^ ^ ^ A well themed river rapid... Jungle Rapids Colorado Boat Another cooling station Peter Pan ride Ortobruco Tour ^ ^ Sequoia Adventure : great for taking pictures but an absolute pointless coaster. ^ ^ ^ Magic Mountain & Sequoia Adventure ^ ^ ^ Blue Tornado From the Flying Island you can actually see Movieland, the park we would visit the day after. ^ Construction of the 2008 coaster. ^ ^ ^ ^ Tunga boatride ^ Canyons ride ^ Flying Island ^ Space Vertigo ^ ^ Time Voyagers : the new 4D attraction with seats giving you a simulator feeling. ^ La Valle dei RE, Valley of the king if my italian is correct : another nice darkride. ^ ^ ^ Inside, under the ground is a huge darkride in boats. Amazing theming and especially the last scene made me feel as if i was really underwater. Great attraction. ^ The amazing I Corsari 4D movie where there are shown 3 different movies. We saw the mine coaster movie. cool station ^ ^ ^ ^ random theming ^ ^ Artificial 'Tree of life'. Inside is a madhouse. Rio Bravo ^ TransGardaland Express. The entrance. Still before the entrance. The themings starts already when you leave the parking lot.
  3. Last week we visited Mirabilandia, Gardaland & Movieland. May 16 : Mirabilandia After a 2,5 hours drive from our hotel at the Gardalake, we arrived at Mirabilandia. All 3 parks where firsttimers for us and we decided to go for the coasterpark on the first day. The theming in the park was better than we expected, especially the entrance street and the Katun theming. Here are the pictures. Important : as this is my first tr, i obviously entered the pictures in reverse order ( = preview order). Sorry about that. Iso re-entering the pictures in the correct order, plse look at the Mirabilandia pictures in reverse order !! Mirabilandia entrance. Mainstreet ... ^ ...more mainstreet theming... ^ ^ Katun is now my favourite inverted B&M after Nemesis. ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ Impressive theming. Sierra Tonante. I liked this woodie. Strange trains though. ^ ^ Columbia & Discovery Monosaurus ^ ^ ^ ^ Explorer ^ Leprotto Express Ghostville darkride Huge theming Family Adventure Eurowheel Autosplash ^ Beautiful cars ... euh boats funny theming Rio Bravo Niagara ... ... where you get ... ... really soaked. Mirabilandia Beach which was still closed during our visit. Opening again June 2. ^ ^ New attraction Raratonga which was not open yet. Construction Raratonga

  5. The brilliant new single of the White Stripes : Icky Thump.
  6. The guy at the right. That's me.
  7. Hi, i'm Ben, living in Belgium. I'm reading the forum since more or less the beginning but i'm not a big poster. Today found an onride picture of me on my computer which you find here below (i'm the guy at the right). My sister and brother in law are in the middle. Together with them, i have a travel agency which has a separate themeparksection. If you ever want to visit european themeparks, plse do visit our website (see sig) [/img]
  8. That must have been the Looping Star in Bobbejaanland or Tornado in Walibi Belgium. I don't remember which one i rode first.
  9. I'm not following lot of tv series. The only one i follow at the moment is Lost.
  10. Samson - Regina Spektor
  11. I've only been to the 3 parks once, on weekdays beginning of May in 2005. None of the rides in the 3 parks had any rows except Rita which had just opened and suffered breakdowns often that day. June is 'dangerous' for schooltrip-crowds i think. If you have to choose betwn June and September, i would go for the second half of September.
  12. Black Mamba @ Phantasialand last Monday
  13. Are you visiting any more parks in the benelux after yr Spain and Italy trip ? Do you have fixed the dates already ? I would love meeting you guys again. Benny (you met in Walibi Belgium 2 years ago) P.s. i'm really looking forward riding this new woodie !
  14. Gouderix was upto September last year by far the roughest coaster i've ever been on. Until i rode coaster express in Parque Warner, Madrid : beautiful layout, small drop to the lift hill, lift hill it self and first drop were still ok but then the hurting began. It was just terrible and this is one of the few coasters i really did not enjoy and i was glad the train entered the station again. Before i rode Coaster express, i heard already that CE could be painful but it the pain was much worser than i could imagine.
  15. Great There is one at not even 2 hours driving from where i live. 1159 meters long, 110 meters height difference, 115 km/hour... Next summer i will definately go there.
  16. Take a look at following short clip i found on the net download clip (rs.com -- choose free download - wait a minute - enter code - download) Does anybody know where this attraction can be found ?
  17. My top 3 is : 1. Nemesis 2. Black Mamba 3. Duelling dragons
  18. Very nice and interesting pics AT is one of my favorite european parcs and i found it very interesting to look at pics of a non operating AT.
  19. Here a nice simulation of vertigo : Source: john-wb - www.walibi.org
  20. it wasn't a good coaster anymore, but still it's a little sad as this was the first looping coaster i've been on (end of the seventies) I'm feeling old all at once
  21. Sören, perhaps yr parents are doing difficult because they don't want to see you leave for 1 year (or who knows for a much longer period), just because they love you so much. Remember i told you that a few years ago i also had to decide to move to the US. I can tell you that especially my wife's parents were really unhappy about this possible move and i remember that during that decision period, every time i saw them they tried to talk that out of my head with all kind of stuff they heard or read somewhere. In the end, them doing so did not really have an influence on my decision, although i realised that it would have been very very hard to see their daughther and granddaughter leave to the US. Benny
  22. anybody knows where i can find the full top 50 list ?
  23. only discovered this tread now. I think it's great Sören, that you follow yr dream. I know that's a huge but also exciting decision to take as a few years ago, i was close to moving to the US to work as an expat for the company i work for. At that time i was already married and we had 1 daughter of 2, which only made the decision even more difficult (although my wife was very much in favor about moving to the US). Eventually i've chosen to stay here because not every condition i had, was fulfilled (most important one was that i would not know on beforehand where in the states i would end up) and also my boss here convinced me to stay. Looking back now, i don't really regret my decision but sometimes i wonder where i would be if i would have moved to the states. Anyway, i'm really glad for you that you have decided to move to Florida and really really hope that everying will work out fine for you out there. Benny
