Great TR. I've been going to Oakwood since it opened as I only lived 10 miles away in Pembroke, but haven't been for the past few years (since just before Hydro was built) when I moved away (now about 140 miles away ). We'll definately have to go back soon so I can ride Speed, though Hydro is definately not on the list (not an acceptable amount of wetness ).

Alton Towers Coaster POV Video!alanjonesbath replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys! Loved the videos. We're going again this weekend before our annual passes run out, so hopefully Rita will actually be running this time Still haven't ridden that thing yet, and definitely looks pretty good from the video.

I haven't even bought a PS3 yet, but that's definately something I'd want to fairly early on when I do get it, so I'd be interested to know how hard it was to do and any tips/tricks.

OK then, so who is gonna be the first to try it then? There must be someone on TPR who'll give it a go

Ride 'O the Pastalanjonesbath replied to Skramp's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys! non-Coaster most missed would have to be Kongfrontation at USF. As for coasters, it would have to be Thunder Looper at Alton Towers. One of the first coaster I rode along with Corkscrew, so it's just a shame it's not there any more

Sorry if its already been posted before (I did a quick search, but couldn't spot anything). Anyway, the pic speaks for itself really, I just thought it was quite funny (and appropriate for this forum):

Photo TR: Divv's Disneyland Resort Paris Adventurealanjonesbath replied to Divv3k's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive Good TR We're about to book a trip to DLP for September this year, staying 3 nights in the Sequoia Lodge. Never been before, despite having gone to WDW on about 7 trips now! Ah well, looks like it should be fun, and hopefully it'll be that quiet for us as well

Lights Motors Action photosalanjonesbath replied to rabid disney's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys! Excellent photos. We saw the show last June, but unfortunately Florida was in the middle of a tropical storm at the time, so the car was able to do some of its bigger jumps, then as we exited the stadium we had the heaviest rain we've ever seen! So not the best time for photos for us. We'll be off to see the original Moteurs... Action! stunt show in Disneyland Paris this September, so hopefully we'll get some decent photos then.

Gutted Can't believe its closing. OK, its not a great ride by modern standards, but as a big BTTF fan I've always loved and try and get at least a couple of rides on it everytime we go to Universal. I'll be a shame to see it go, but will be interesting to see what has been built in its place if we manage to get to Orlando in 2008.

We've always gone to the US in the first two weeks of June, both to LA and Florida (and this year to D.C/New York area). Florida always seems quite quiet at that time fo year. In LA, there seemed to be a lot of school groups at SFMM the day we went, though Disneyland was relatively quiet.

Alton Towers Discussion Threadalanjonesbath replied to Ed's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys! It was so long ago that I last got to ride the Black Hole Oblivion didn't even exist at the time! We were able to sneak a photo through the fence panels when we there mid-September last year, track/support pieces just sitting there in a pile I would have thought they would at least have taken the metal off-site once it was dismantelled, rather than leaving it piled up outside the tent.

What is your local park?alanjonesbath replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys! I live in Bath in the UK. I guess my current 'local' park would have to be either Legoland Windsor (never bean) or Thorpe, which is about 2 hours away. I used to live in Pembroke in south-west Wales, so had Oakwood just 10 minutes away.

How quickly did Stealth launch before the 'upgrade' then? We'll be there on 13th May, so hopefully it'll be working that day. On our last trip, it didn't open until about midday, and none of the Thorpe staff had a clue why it was shut or how long it would be shut for. Mind you, X:\NWO didn't open until midday that day either, but then at least it did open, half the park was shut the day we were there.

X:\ No Way Outalanjonesbath replied to Ryan King's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys! I rode it for the first time last summer as well. To be honest, at the time I didn't know anything about it, and depsite seeing the train come in to the station backwards, for some reason I just didn't expect it to leave the station backwards as well! But yeah, kinda the same feelings as everyone else, its definately not a great ride, and certainly doesn't compare with the other 3 coasters at Thorpe, but I'd ride it again if the queue wasn't too long. The whole brakeing thing where it shuffles you a bit was very weird!
