Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

I think that'd be quite likely the case. I wouldn't be so quick to think that. Carowinds installed NO nets whatsoever with Fury 325 as well as there are none on Banshee. It seems cedar fair's lawyers and insurance company may have come to a conclusion that such things aren't really that necessary. -

Great move!!! I hear its a success at universal and I KNOW it does well at disney! -
This makes me thing . . . did B&M really have to put much input into it . . . or any any at all? After all, they are a design firm. The coaster is already designed so it's not like they are drawing up new plans and it seems all the footers are being reused. The steel fabricator doesn't solely belong to B&M right?

Question . . . is the "view" really that important? i say that as a frequent traveler I use to be like "best view available" then I realize I was never in the room to really enjoy said room. -

If you owned your own theme park
jarmor replied to martinb's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Lets see . . . My parks focus would be on family fun so it will have a little for everyone. The main things that will HAVE to be included is a RMC rendition of the crystal beach cyclone, several dark rides and only 1 3D lol. Several dry play areas for kids as well as kids attractions scatter throughout the park vs one concentrated area. Several seated, indoor eateries. A B&M launched flyer, A cool kiddie dark ride coaster that turns into shuttle similar to fire chase express. Just to start lol . . . -

Six Flags America (SFA) Discussion Thread
jarmor replied to Mind Eraser's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That's actually not true. I called Six Flags Over Texas and asked and they said I must wait for Six Flags America to open back up which means my trip to Texas this winter is now canceled. Not to mention I live in NC. I happened to be in the DC area and grabbed a season pass membership while on vacation, never expecting I was going to have my wallet stolen. Now I am paying a monthly membership fee and no way to replace my card unless I plan another vacation to Washington DC. You didn't need your physical pass. You are in the system. They can always look it up for you and allow access that day. -

Do enthusiast opinions matter?
jarmor replied to neil009's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I personally feel yes, their opinions matter . . . as well as anyone who is going to the park. There is a reason lots of parks put our surveys and ask for feed back after you visit a park. To what degree it matters is debatable. -

Carowinds invited the media out on wed to give a live progress report of the highly anticipated Carolina Harbor water park expansion at Carowinds. The media was invited on a walking tour of all things Carolina Harbor, the new and the old. Not going to be much on words so i'm just gonna lay out some tidbits. -This will be the largest water park (acreage wise) in the Carolinas. -White Water West is providing all of the new hardware. -The park has a self appointed deadline of may 1st to have everything ready and complete for inspection, certification and to get everything trained for the area. -The older slides have painted supports because they are not galvanized steel as the newer slides are (hence why the older slides have painted supports and the slide duo complex of 13 and next years slide complex will not be painted. -The bucket atop Seaside Splashworks is custom designed (as their is no "standard" size bucket) and intricately weighted to properly tilt and swing back and forth with little to no stress on the structure. -The park is still looking to see what, if any, (live) entertainment product they will have inside Carolina Harbor. I also asked about the about the lazy river, if it will ever be expanded. From the gist of things, it would be more feasible and financially sound to add an additional lazy river than to add on to the current. Ok . . . on to the photos. The lot of full with slide parts. One of the larger props for Seaside Splashworks In case you were wondering who was providing the hardware . . . More props! On ground level, these buckets are huge! Water POV. Cant wait to see it all put together . . . Starting early for scarowinds lol . . . If I were a betting man . . . I would bet these are part of the constrictor slide. Speaking of . . .This will surely be the highlight for thrillseekers! The park is gonna be finish far before may 1st if they keep this up. This duo complex came in 2013 . . .Provided by proslides (The park generally works with proslides and whitewater. I asked about polin . . . they seem to not have ever heard about them). The current slides all got a new paint job/scheme. There once was a large deck area over here that no one used. (Now that i'm thinking of it . . . i'm not too sure if the mini golf was still there. This large area is where the Seaside Splashworks will be located. More new paint jobs . . . The element under the yellow umbrella will be gone in favor of a newer, cooler element for the kids. In addition, the current splash treehouse has received some paint to go with its new Pirates landing theme. This current family restroom/changing area is being expanded to offer 5 more family restrooms! The new colors REALLY have breathed life into this once hum drum looking complex. The now old wave pool . . . This will be the site of the new Harmony Hall style restaurant, Harbor House, featuring what would be some of the best food you can get in a theme park. The seating will be outdoors as opposed to the indoors of Harmony Hall since most people would be still wanting to enjoy the sun. Now we are looking onto the site of what will be the new wave pool, Surf Club Harbor. But first, lets look at the awesome color scheme of Storm Surge. This will be the new pump house. I "heard" this pool will be the wilder one while the current one will be a little more mild. In addition to the new Carolina Harbor exclusive entrance there will also be a new Bathhouse near as you enter it. Lets take one last look at Blackbeard's Revenge before heading out. Overall I see this expansion being as big as Fury325 on the scale of bringing more guest into the park and I cannot WAIT for it to open! Also, the park has a dedicated website . . . HERE . . . with live webcams and other exclusive content! -

He explicitly said it was a Hulk support in a previous post before he added the image... That being said, as previously mentioned, this 'support' doesn't really look like any other B&M supports, so he could be just having some fun with the internet... Plus, why would they be manufacturing coaster supports in Clearwater? It's also possible this is some sort of scenic support or part of the theming for the queue... From my understanding, the poster works at a place that makes several companies supports. I think he would have said that was for hulk if it was. I have reasons to believe it is not for hulk
