Thats because the first drop is -
uhhh o...ok I cant really speak on much except mystery mine and cant really say too much about it since I had an unofficial ride. But what I can say is that this is a coaster that has dark ride sections and not the other way around so dont expecting a dark ride with coaster sections. The ride is very innovative and good ole family fun. The atmosphere is key with the ride nestled inbetween a valley. I am impressed with the detail on the ride and outside the ride!
-
Well...they are kinda assigned to you but its only 2 rows lol...you can try asking for a row I did and I got front row everytime I rode!
-
The video is good and all but it doesnt show anything inside just darkness, which is one of the many reasons I opted not to even attempt a POV. The ride is very dark on the inside. The only clear spoiler is the first lift and how it makes it look like it's not going to work. I really suggest if want to get a clear view of the coaster and whats its about...get down to dollywood! It's worth it and you have other awesome attractions you can experience.

Hummm...the first drop didnt seem 95 degrees to me...
-
There will be no POV of this attraction from me or pro bably anyone else for that matter...

Im not touching that! Besides its dark inside the mine anyway lol! Jarvis "will make a recreation in nolimits for ya" Morant! -
Well I decided to take on the task myself and get pictures of the ride in action since all 34 of you guys that have ridden it forgot to do so with the exception of dave! Overall, I really enjoyed the coaster. It was what the park and the south needs because between that, thunderhead, and goliath...the south is on the rise. Im gonna cut the bull and just give my opinion on different aspects of the ride. Also i'm going to give slight details for those of you who want to know a little about the ride. Station: I give this a 9/10. I was blown away at the detail that went into the station. The station virtually had no full wall and you can see thru the cracks of it! The station is full of props like dynomite and crows that really get you in the mood. A plus is that there IS a single riders line, however it starts right in the station. The loading system is awesome. Think sheikra meets Revenge of the mummy. Be warned the song...WILL get stuck in your head . The reason why the station isn't a 10/10 is because while the front part is enclosed the back is open up to the rest of the park and it kind of takes away from the feeling of being in an abandon mine but not too much but it would be better if the ride had to make an enclosed turn into the station so it could be completely dark...which brings up another point. The station is virtually dark and has some cool flicker style lights. Theming: Honestly, cant really judge that because they are still doing trail and error testing BUT from what was working today I have one word...WOW! The dark ride section is can say is ROTM meets the deep south! While I didn't see any animatronics...well not totally true there was plenty sound effects and of course everyone knows about the screen on the last lift but they dont know about the... ! The tressel really suprised me. I wasn't expecting it to be as large as it was. One thing I noticed is that the actual "theme" of the coaster isn't obvious. I think with some monitors with the old fella talling the tale of the mine would really give it that disney/universal edge! Coaster: I give it 8/10. This ride has to have the best beginning on any coaster I have even been on and thats the end of that. Also the best/worst ending. Let me explain that. The ending is amazing in one breath but in the same breath you can say "is that it". I feel that another helix or some element after the half loop would have made this coaster much better instead of just the brakes. But everyone that I rode with loved it especially when it seem like the.......then starts creeping (like im really going to tell ya lol). That freaked out alot of people! Also, the first vertical drop is short but DANG its something nice! Overall I really, really did like this ride. Now its no "drop everything have to run to dollywood" coaster it comes very close to it. And dave did mention it but it did have some blocking issues which caused the operations to cease for a while but it came up and they were running all 7 trains w/ minimal stacking. And dont let the lenth of the line fool ya because there arent any switchbacks in the station and the line moves really quick. I got there to the front gates around 11 this morning and was off the coaster bt 1130 and thats with about 3/4 of the que occupied. I had to use my camcorder as my camera since mysteriously I cannot find my digital SLR (yeah im gonna have to fork over another 600-900 for a replacement if I want to continue to make money) but here are some semi-good pictures enjoy! Here are the videos...one doesn't have a spoiler the other does! Enjoy! Oh yeah one more sign! Twistage! Moving right along to the second longest line in the park, Aunt grannies! If you ever eat there, request Jan and tell her jarvis, the black guy recommended her! Damn blocking issue...well atleast it wasn't hot outside for those lucky folks! Not smiling anymore...wanna know why? Thats what the trains should look like lol... Ok these signs are getting old...like anyone in tenn can read anyway lol! Upclose and personal...if you want to get the same feeling I had, lift your monitor above your head... Lots of signs there bo! Zooming back into the mine! He slept the whole day... Here we have the sleek, top of the line "your too damn fat" indicator implemented by the top scientist in the world...now if only people would use it! Yep...still smiling! She be comin' round der mountain when she comes... Trust me...it looks even better in person! Clear! themeing that isnt locked up in a cage! more signs... They actually QUIT their jobs to come ride MM today... That is one sweet drop! Weeeeeeee... Lets play spot the mine car. Dollywood is sexus!!!1!! signage Once you get to the top the wait is virtually over... overview of sign on the wall Pretty cool element. ...Smiling because you have to read about it and I got to ride it! (Notice the "hair control" lol) even from this point I waited no more than 20 minutes. overexposed shot...I miss my camera FINALLY this shot WITH a train! Where did that come from? In other words...dont go to guest services and complain that you didn't get to ride because it was down for the rest of the day! That sign is fulling up very fast! giving the run down at the gate! A ride not operating at dollywood! The slow losers who had to wait on another tram...forget it old lady I have to ride a mystery mine! Trying to do anything to keep myself awake! early morning and I had NO sleep except when I was driving...very dangerous!

Really like the first pic! vvvv thats not true at all what you dont like is regular automatic digital cameras! You can do that with a manual setting digital camera but much easier on film! -
PTR - Carowinds - 2007 Opening Day
jarmor replied to bgwfreak's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
If im not mistaken those "seat belts" are just on the OTSR instead of going around you waist right? If that is the case I dont see the big problem. It's obvious the park is going above and beyond! -
USJ DREAM Coaster Opening day report from TDLFAN
jarmor replied to TDLFAN's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Definitely snuggles! I first noticed that B&M spines vary and i'm guessing due to load impact in that area. Looks like instead of adding supports they just make the track thicker. You really see it on Goliath at SFoG. -
Dry Run Day at Carowinds

I too liked the stars better. It gave the park some uniquiness but now it just another versions of knotts! -
I guess im one of the lucky few who have actually been to the park when they were running both sides! Needless to say I got double the beating!
-
you would enjoy yourself alot. I suggest early sunday mornings less crowds!

Whoa...they are modifying the coaster...I didnt know that! -
^ I think its pretty new...I have NEVER seen it before. I was thinking about it! I mean when I woke up this morning and saw him on the toon I was watching...I nearly had cardiac arrest or something. I come to a park to have fun not held up at gun point! But I guess he feel that he isn't going down like tiger'r lol
-
Well I was suppose to go to SFoG yesterday, march 11th, leaving my house at like 6:30 am...but after drinking saturday I FINALLY woke up about 1:00 PM lol. I was suppose to go with a friend who hasn't been since 95-96 and they did infact call but I dont even know what I said to them on the phone when they called about 5 something. Well we decided to head out anyway and I figured we would have basically no time in the park but I just wanted to go ride GOLIATH and I needed to renew my season pass, which I wasn't going to but the crafty Six Flags decided to send me one in the mail so I can be forced to renew! So I had mapped out the plan to my friend that we were going to get there, get in the park, ride goliath then Superman:UF then head over to Batman and if we were lucky Mindbender. We get there and some man is arguing at will call (where we had to purchase upgrades and tickets)...oh before that, my great experience started at the front gates where I was told to "just go ahead" instead of paying the small price of 15.00 to park! Well i'm still waiting and watching soo many trains fly by on goliath and some chick walks by with a name tag on dressed in regular clothes. I asked to make sure I was in the right place to purchase my upgrade and the first thing that came out of her mouth was "you know the park closes at 6 right?". I let her know that I basically came to ride Goliath (yep drove 3 hours for it lol) and probably 2 other coasters and she immediately stated "hummm...probably S:UF and Batman". I was like yep!! Finally got into the park and went straight to Goliath. As far as the park for this season, I didn't really explore since I had less than an hour but from what I see everything looks the same with the addition of new paint all over the place and signs about home depot. Got to Goliath and got on the second train out in the backseat. My friend chickened out stating that he will catch the next coaster . That ride is really great. For some reason it looks smaller to me than last year it still packed a punch. After that we headed over to S:UF. Once he saw that he was like nooooo! Folks...the last coaster he rode was then Scooby Doo Ghoster Coaster now Fairley Odd Coaster @ Paramo.....uhh I mean Carowinds. Needless to say I had to ride this one alone also. Walked over to gotham city and went straight to Batman...which had no wait at all. That coaster is SICK!! The G forces on that coaster should be illegal. What suprised me is that they now have an onride section for the coaster (I have never seen it before). It was now almost 6 and time to leave. I was shocked at the characters at the front of the gate bidding farewell to the patrons but was even more thrown when it seemed like every office employee was all lined up giving their goodbyes! After being held up at gun point by Marvin the Martian I finally made it to my car and back home! The only gripe I had about the day is that I had to take ANOTHER picture even after showing them the pass I recieved in the mail about a week ago...I STILL dont understand the logic in that one! But they made up for it for suggesting that I use the bring a friend free pass for the day instead of my friend paying the 49.99! Now the people next to me wasn't happy because they complained that they would have brought someone if they knew they would get in free...SUCKERS!! Here are the pictures. This was my first time taking my cannon rebel EOS to the park and it was quite an experience. I am somewhat "skilled" in photography now and notice alot of things than before I started my photography classes! Enjoy! Oh yeah I basically used "auto" for the pictures so that can give you an idea of what is possible with that awesome camera without having to edit them to your liking! Have to give mindbender some love also! Thats the six flags I know and love! Only thing missing is a train on the left side! More loopage! Man that coaster looks good now...really glad its a lighter shade of yellow to contrast with goliath. Can I take it home... Using manual settings now...the sun is no longer on my side! I adjusted the shutter and film speed and sweet! A much better shot, the background is over exposed but my subject, the coaster, is perfect! Using automatic didn't quite render what I wanted so... ...Still waiting on that logic...(for some reason I looked fat yesterday, and the say before, and the day before lol...) me: can I take a picture w/ my pretend son? Marvin: Hells no bro-ham empty those pockets! This is Six Flags fool! ...I wonder what the kid would look like... Sunset. You can sorta see the placement of the onride cameras. Dear Six flags, you guys really know how to dissapoint people! You open this cool coaster with a great theme and then basically stop at that one...way to tease us! Inside the bat cave. No flash... lol lol...no comment. Lets play "Where's the rider?"! Yeah yeah... No comment...POS! C'mon no day is complete without this shot! Pretty pretzel but you can see the paint is fading a tad bit. 55mm zoom gets very close to the action! Kinda an overview of the pretzel using a 18mm zoom. Fly like an eagle...or a firehawk! Overview. That looks like a long way up! "she'll be coming 'round the mount...curve when she comes" Finally made it! That place has some of the best bar-b-q but they were close. Zooming in @ 55mm to get a closer shot. This is where I should have used a faster shutter speed to freeze the train for better clarity but who cares im here to ride! Wasn't as intense as I remembered Weeeeeeeeeeeeee "Hi...I like theme parks, however I dont like riding rides...can someone explain the logic in that. Until they do I will still come to theme parks and not ride!" Ahhh...the reason I came! Switching the angle, still using automatic, it renders a better shot. Kinda overview shot...see what happens when you use automatic...the picture comes out dark because its based on 18% gray. It's soo pretty now... Hey whadda know! Scorcher has been painted!
