  1. I would imagine there to be a lot of pressure building up to get the train to that speed, and the tank just couldn't hold it.I am glad all of this is happening before they let people on the damn thing. Could you imagine sitting there waiting to launch and them BAM ........helluva launch LMAO
  2. I believe so, it was getting dark, the wifey wouldn't ride, talked her into the next day though.
  3. Have you checked Greyhound? It seems like a $90 train ride and then what I would imagine to be a pretty costly cab ride From Harrisburg to Hershey, the bus would be cheaper. If not, maybe you could offer her parents half the cost to just drive you there.
  4. If it keeps running as bad as it is, it won't be around to get any TLC. I swear it feels like it could go right through the structure at any given time. I've never felt a ride shuffle so bad through the corners.
  5. After having spent the weekend at Kings Dominion, I must say that Rebel Yell and Grizzly have the most ungodly loooong drawn out queues! You could almost count 3 or 4 trains dispatched before you hit the loading platform!
  6. Yeah, RY and Grizzly were great. Took a front seat night ride on Rebel Yell and it blew us away!!
  7. I was there, long hair, blue jean shorts??
  8. Spent Labor Day weekend at the park celebrating our 5th anniversary. Had a great time and spent 2 nights at Kings Quarters using the 2 day/night vacation package. No pics to post as we didn't really fart with a camera and there are plenty of them on here anyhow, so I will just tell of thoughts and ideas. Overall the time was awesome, crowds were very minimal and wait times were pretty much nonexistent (with a few exceptions). We hit up Dominator upon arrival Saturday which was @ 12 noon. The wait was just about 15 minutes with a 2 train operation. First time I have ridden this ride at either park and my only other floorless was Hydra, so this pretty much kicked it's butt!!! I can almost rate this as one of my top 3 coasters now. I really liked the turn after the loop taken at high speed, that was pretty freaking amazing!! Volcano was a pass as the whole queue upstairs was filled and they were waiting at the bottom of the entrance out on the midway, managed it first thing Sunday morning at park opening. First time on a BLSC, thought it was very good for what it was, and the tunnel part was really good. The helicopter did not move, but the flames were on and the sound of bullets were there..... Rebel Yell did one side alternating both days, walk on Saturday, little wait Sunday. Anaconda was walk on Saturday, Sunday the line started all the way at the entrance?? Nothing much here, same old jerk and bang it always has been. Shockwave was good as usual, 10 minute wait both days. Grizzly was awesome as ever, especially at night. Sunday night they took it down to 1 train and that caused some backup in the station queue, nothing more than that though. Skipped Riccochet, not much of a mouse fan. Outer limits was short wait Saturday, Sunday the line was full queued outside with some on the midway!!! Not waiting that long with only 2 train ops. I guess that leaves me with Hurler.... You all can say what you want about SOB and Mean Streak, but this pile of crap and the one at Carowinds need to go long before CF demolishes anything else!! I have never been jackhammered and beat up so bad as what we went through Sunday afternoon, and that was in the 3rd seat back from the front!!! Never again....... Anyhow, my only real problem with the park was the fact that I imagine most employees are back in school now so they were really understaffed. Dispatch times were pretty awful, and when you only have 2 young boys operating Grizzly, I don't find that a very safe practice. By that I mean 1 pushing buttons and 1 doing seat checks!!!! One last thought....DAMN those food and drink prices are high!!!!!! Thank God we had our own stuff in the hotel to eat or I would have to mortgage my home to buy snacks in the park!! I mean come on CF, $4 for a 20 oz. Coke???? Oh, BTW didn't look like anything was going on over in I305 land, the big crane is still in pieces and there were no signs of movement anywhere all weekend.
  9. If the park is this dead, what kinda crowds should I expect this weekend (9/05-9/06)
  10. I would like to inform all that this video was included in my rudefun link of the day adult entertainment email!!! LMAO The link takes you directly to Coastetube so look out for more freaks wanting to join the site!! Just kidding, good news travels fast.....
  11. With only 10 boats holding 10 people, unless they have some kind of fancy load/unload system and very quick dispatches, this thing could be a capacity nightmare! I know the website says 1200 pph, but most coasters don't even come close to that do they? Factor in guests with disabilities that require help, mechanical issues and the like, and the TTD line will seem like breeze....
  12. They bought the old Revolution from Libertyland and it is still sitting over behind the water park rusting away. I doubt we will ever see that running, it is probably too far gone to rebuild.
  13. I was there this year, never seen this, but they just advertised it on TV so I checked the website. Lo and behold there it was.... http://www.delgrossos.com/xscreamC2.html http://www.delgrossos.com/dap.html If you look at the park map it shows a ferris wheel. That was missing and there was a square hole in the ground while we were there. I guess this is where they are sticking it??
  14. That is the one good thing about Hershey's "big" water rides. They are all located together and they give you the option to ride in your swimsuit! I also remember a few years back that you could rent lockers at CP for the Rapids and SRF and ride at least without shoes and shirts if you wanted too. Do they still let you do that? p.s. What the hell are these fluffy bunnies?? LMAO
  15. I think this is kinda redundant since they just tore out a good log flume to build a new ride?? Now they come back and build another one to replace it. Couldn't they have just built Maverick here instead?? Also it totally baffles me that Kings Dominion is getting a 300+ ft Giga and all anyone can say is harsh things about it...but here come good old CP building a smallish log ride and everyone is going gaga over it? WTF... Just my 2 cents, no need to shoot me or throw me under the bus, I am actually glad in this time of the economy that all these parks have the desire and funds to go and build anything at all!
  16. God love the Brass Kactus !!!! Some of the "old Gang" 6 years ago at the Java Club where I used to bartend. Still drinking the same damn beer !!! (I am the idiot with the long hair) Knocked a few back last night
  17. So I guess the whole lightning striking twice reference is to the fact both rides are themed to Earnhardt and NASCAR??? I see both parks making out like bandits on these two new rides...
  18. Now we are talking!! Tailgate party that was 35 years in the making!!! Better get lots of beer and burgers LMAO.
  19. Highly unlikely as Richard Childress owns the 3, DEI has nothing in it, just the name of the company, which now is actually Earnhardt/Gannassi Racing....
  20. Well, if you are going with out and back, definitely the Kings Racers(Rebell Yell, Racer). I think out of that list RY was the first one as a kid. It has been a few years since I've been there and I always found it to be an enjoyable ride, especially backwards(RIP). For the twisters, Skyliner is a decent ride for the shape it is in, and you gotta love the junior's at KD, KI, and Carowinds!!
  21. I resemble that comment! I am an avid NASCAR fan and go to Bristol, Richmond, and Martinsville on a regular basis. So what if KD is cashing in on the amount of people that are. Where else can you find 165,000 people sitting around a 1/2 mile racetrack size stadium. That is a heeluva lot of people to draw from to entice to your park. As far a "riff-raff", sure there are the "redneck" types at the track, but there is also businessmen with their families, and average everyday people. Personally I can't wait to get back down to KD and try this monster out, it looks amazing!
  22. Wow, I finally got caught up on reading all of this and only have a few things to say. I do agree that the name and theme make more sense to go to Carowinds, but isn't their ad campaign saying something about "Lightning Striking Twice"? Maybe theirs will be a sort of knock off.... The Congo was built/themed years ago before all of the newer rides and coaster were added, maybe they just need some sort of retheme, albeit not the "Redneck Alley" that was mentioned a few pages back. As for the person who wanted to skip this race weekend, by all means please go on that Saturday, as there will be over 100,00 people at the track meaning mostly short (hopefully) lines at the park. Restraints really shouldn't be an issue, the only thing I am concerned about is taking the first turn at close to 90 mph!!!!!! I can only imagine the force pushing you down into your seat!!!! And last, as for the colors, if they wanted to go the whole Earnhardt theme, maybe they could've used blue instead of red for the early years Wrangler car he drove... Enough of my rambling, just get out to Central VA next summer and see for yourself........ Did anyone notice that the link to KDFansite's pics show a model with B&M style 4 across seating??
  23. LMAO! The only good inversion coaster they could ever have was wiped out in favor of the Steel Phantom to begin with!!!
  24. Years ago when Junior was a Busch Series driver, his nickname was Dominator as a play on Intimidator of Dale SR. ... not that this means anything in relation to the naming of the ride, but just a little NASCAR trivia for all of you.
  25. I know you guys appear to like your "not your average, everyday, ordinary" beer, but have you ever hit up the Bowery downtown on a Friday or Saturday night? Definitely a good time to be had, I go there every time I hit the beach!!
