The video is done, it's been awhile, so hopefully it's not too bad. Enjoy... waldameer.wmv Waldameer 2006 -
So after spending a week at my family's cottage on Canadohta Lake, I decided to post some of the pictures I took. Canadohta Lake is a good 45 minute drive on 77 East from Meadville, several backroads and yadda yadda. The lake itself used to have an amusement park, but was taken out and the "park" is now home to motor homes and traylors. Well while I was up there I decided to take a drive over to Conneaut Lake Park. So after an hour of driving I made it to CLP to see that it was closed! Well after punching the moose... I decided to head to Waldameer and see what the progress is on Ravine Flyer 2. Btw, I might have a video running sometime soon, so check back to see it. now back to the Ranger, eh it takes forever to get around this part of Pennsylvania last but not least, The Comet which is neatly nestled around a couple of large trees the carousel bumper car building Steel Dragon is a popular ride ditto more beautiful scenery RF3 is a kiddie coaster a trabant type ride Skyride Spider, I don't see too many of these nowadays an awesome dark ride one again Waldameer has beautiful scenery Steel Dragon has a nice entrance Now the Steel Dragon that doesn't throw wheels at people I got a peek inside this place and it seems to be a reception hall of some kind though I couldn't find any hard evidence of RF2, I did find other signs of an attraction going up Thunder River has two lift hills, like most log flumes what classic park would not have one Thunder River's station Thunder River which is, ofcourse a log flume Pirates Cove is a dark walk through attraction one of the many flat rides the park also has beautiful scenery Waldameer has plenty of trees Where should I start? There we go... Unfortunately I wasn't prepared to get wet today, so I had to skip the water park. Yea, totally empty! Uh oh, that parking lot looks kinda empty! Man I hope Waldameer isn't closed Incase any of you wondered what the northern end of I-79 looks like, well here you go. I mean the weather was horrible, I didn't blame Conneaut for being closed... Did I mention the weather was terrrible! So yea, after leaving CLP, I had these thoughts.... Our cottage Grrr I'm Toby, gimme some candy! Welcome to Canadohta Lake

Wooden coasters
Dailey Enterprizes replied to AllisonY2K's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm basically on the same boat as everyone else when it comes to roughness. There is much difference between good old fashion roughness and just plain suckiness rough. I mean the Thunderbolt at Kennywood uses trains that are big, heavy, and don't even use the seat dividers or headrests and it is considered by many a fun coaster. Now the Mean Streak at Cedar Point just plain sucks. I mean the trim brakes make the ride incredibly boring first off, so it's not bad enough that the train is going very slow, but it's very rough in spots it shouldn't be rough in. Meaning that I expect all wooden coasters to be rough in the corners, but not in the friggin drops and dips. -

^ That actualy sounds like a good idea because it will decrease the loading time and decrease the que time. We all know how long it takes to load those trains. -

In the second Flying Dutchman screenshot, I was wondering why the train was in it's loading mode on a brakerun, but I realized that Ole was trying to make it easier for us to see the lifting mechanism. -
I'd love to do the Spain and Midwestern U.S. trips with you guys. I've yet to meet any of you in person (maybe that's a good thing ), but I think now (next year) is a good time to do it. I'll be out of college in April, so I can probably get back to work and start making money again for these trips. I'm so pumped now, I really want to go.

^^ Even with one arm working the SwingShot makes the most awesome sounds; it kind of reminds me of the big bad wolf (the actual wolf, not the BGE coaster). I always see people there taking pictures, Kennywood has got to be one of the most photographed parks. I actualy used have a website called Dailey Enterprizes that I used for all of my pictures, videos, and whatnot, but getting rid of the website wasn't my regret; it's losing all the videos that used to be mine, there is no way for me to retrieve any of them. That really made me mad at myself.

Photo TR: Gröna Lund & Tusenfryd 27-28/07

Gröna Lund looks like a really lovely park that needs me to visit real soon! Not surprisingly it's not really the coasters that attract me to parks, but the atmosphere. I'm sortof Six Flags out, meaning I'm tired of going to parks far away just for the credit. Luckily parks like Cedar Point combine both the coasters and atmosphere, but not all parks are like Cedar Point, or Kennywood! -

New themepark for West Virginia?
Dailey Enterprizes replied to Jon Sabo's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ Apparently Kennywood isn't Six Flags! I doubt that "overpopulation" is the reason because it's not like there are already thousands apon thousands of people there everyday like it was at Coney Island in the 1920s. I heard the main reason why they're not building a major coaster is because they wouldn't be able to get enough money back in a season to keep finances in the green. Meaning there are simply not enough people going to the park and until the Mon Valley Expressway is built, I doubt any new coaster will be built, but that's why I'm hoping this new park "threat" will speed things up a bit. -
New themepark for West Virginia?
Dailey Enterprizes replied to Jon Sabo's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've said this before and I'll say it again, the only thing I'm looking forward too is the possibility of Kennywood's expansion plans being improved and put into high gear because of this park. I always knew a major park would someday be built in the area because there are alot of people living in this corner of PA! -
I've actualy held myself back from responding to any accident related thread because I simply just don't like to talk about them. This also applies to auto crashes, airplane accidents, bombings, etc., but I wanted to say that this is a terrible thing and my prayers go to the family. Unfortunately this happens....

^^ Hmm interesting, it seems like some crazy idea for a backyard coaster. The park did a pretty damn good job on that track; I thought it was Arrow because the Matterhorn Bobsleds looks like it uses the same gauge and everything.
-
The Bobsleds look crazy and even crazier back in Robb's 2003 on-ride videos. According to rcdb.com, The Bobsleds were built by John A. Miller as a junior coaster (just like Waldameer's Comet except it was built by PTC), so I guess it wasn't a side-friction coaster. Then in the late 1960's the park added the steel track, but I'm trying to figure out if it was Arrow who made the track for Seabreeze? Well whatever, it looks fun...

New themepark for West Virginia?
Dailey Enterprizes replied to Jon Sabo's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Actualy in this part of the United States, the location of a park doesn't matter so much because it can take me as long to get to Kennywood as is to get to Conneaut Lake Park. The reason is traffic and with the terrain, it's hard for major highways to be built, but now that this new Mon Valley Expressway is being built to link up the sourthern portion of Pennsylvania to Pittsburgh (one of the exits is going to be right next to Kennywood); access going to and from Pittsburgh will be much easier for extreme southwest Pennsylvania. As for this new park, I'm actualy pretty excited because new competition might give Kennywood a reason to put in a B&M Invert.
