Sean's Music! -I try my hand at a Rave/Techno Song!
jmicha replied to Calaway Park's topic in Random, Random, Random
You definitely have the talent to make some interesting songs. The beginning of Manequin and from the one minute mark on and all of So Confused are really good. Especially from the one minute mark in Manequin. Extremely catchy and like you said, easy to get stuck in my head which is what I like when listening to music lol. Nice job, would definitely like to see what you come up with in the future. There's an obvious increase in quality from your earlier songs to the later ones and I can only imagine that this trend will continue. Good work. -
^That's always fun to watch buildings being demolished. I have a morbid fascination with watching implosion videos Are they making way for something new or just removing a problematic building? Construction is always exciting. My campus has basically made a complete turnaround in the last decade. It (University of Cincinnati) has undergone a massive rebuilding program that has changed it into a world class campus. I wish I was around to see some of the demolition that happened years before I first arrived. We had a 27 story dorm building called Sander Hall that was imploded in 1991 due to the decrease in students attending the university and the diminishing novelty of living in a high rise dorm building. It's crazy how tall the building was though for a dorm building. The dorm I stayed in freshman year is the small brick building to the left of Sander Hall in the second view in this video, and that was a 13 story building. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-q08y6cFsTw

I just rode Boardwalk Bullet for the first time last weekend since I'm in Texas for a few months and I loved it. The first drop and turn were fantastic and the overall ride was plain fun. It just kept going, it's insane how much track they fit into such a small area. All of the boardwalk was a lot of fun and the Bullet is definitely worth a ride if you are in the area.

Alton Towers Discussion Thread

^I'm not sure it will be a spinner. The reason being that if the car can spin, what's the point of a backwards drop? Any drop could be backwards or forwards on a spinner, so why go through the trouble of switch track in order to achieve basically the exact same effect as any other hill. Unless they just want the dead ends for theming purposes such as on EE...hmmm...now I don't really know what to think. Time will tell I guess. -
I saw Zombieland last night. It was alright. Not quite as good as most of the reviews I've heard, but decent. Storyline was decent, but it just felt...fake...I know that's strange when talking a bout a zombie movie, but the whole situation felt forced if that makes sense. And something seriously bothered me throughout the movie. Why does everywhere still have electricity? It bothered me more than it should since it's just a movie, about zombies nonetheless, but still, it bothered the heck out of me the entire movie. 6/10

Alton Towers Discussion Thread

^Well it's not really by choice that they do it. They have a very strict height limitation policy so having anything with a decent vertical dimension requires these holes. It makes for some awesome looking rides. Nemesis looks amazing and I hope I can get to Alton Towers at some point in my life. -
^It would make the perfect location for an awesome Halloween event. The park looks like if it was fixed up it would have a really cool atmosphere. Leave as many of the trees that have overgrown the place and it could look really cool. Hey, they could make it a permanent Halloween event. I'm sure that could bring in some good money.

^^Some advice with the whole good friends thing. Be careful with falling for someone you are good friends with. It can end very poorly. In my situation it wasn't another gay guy but a straight guy which, to make a LONG story short, ruined our friendship forever. So just be careful with what your body tells you to do. As for relationships in general, I've only ever been in one and it was very short lived. We met through my best friend (they are both in the same fraternity) and we dated for a couple months but the distance didn't allow for it to work out. It was fun though while it lasted. I'm currently on the market and hoping I can find someone I enjoy hanging around sometime in the near future. Being single has its perks, but can really be a downer sometimes. My problem is that I don't get along with most gay guys lol. I'm not very gay for being gay if that makes any sense. I hang out with mostly straight guys and some girls, but literally no gay guys. This greatly lessons the likelihood of meeting other gay guys I'd like unfortunately but I guess that's just the way it goes. I can't help who I enjoy being around lol.

Trying to decide which PS3 to get
jmicha replied to Sir Clinksalot's topic in Random, Random, Random
^True, but I'm not trying to argue. My first post was meant to be taken with a slight tone of sarcasm as I really don't care what system other people buy. I'm just discussing why I feel the PS3 is right for me, not trying to argue which is better since it's all a matter of what you want out of a system and which has the more pros for your wants. -
Trying to decide which PS3 to get
jmicha replied to Sir Clinksalot's topic in Random, Random, Random
^^No offense, but as I said, game selection is totally opinion. I like PS3's game selection a lot more, and frankly, if the Halo series is in someone's argument for the 360, I can't help but laugh. Bungie has no clue what they're doing in my eyes. Halo 1 is one of my favorite games, then right when I got excited about the series, they managed to make two of the worst games I've ever played. Halo 2 was fun online just because it was so accessible, but other than that, there was nothing going for it. And don't even get me started on the craptacular Halo 3. I've yet to enjoy myself in that game. And I've yet to ever have a problem with PSN. Is it quite as good as XBLA? No, but that doesn't mean it sucks. Sure it'll have a few more hiccups here and there, but for the most part, I've never had a problem. I've never been booted from a game, experienced anymore lag than on my 360, or run into any real connection problems. And free is a heck of a lot better than fifty bucks a year for a (now) broke college student lol. But to each his own. I personally need a lot of memory since I like to put everything media related on it. I'm lazy lol. I don't like having to search for somewhere else to play my movies or music. I just do it all from my PS3. There's currently 312 GB worth of extra stuff on my PS3, and obviously there isn't a 360 hard drive that can support that. And bluray is really important to me as I splurged about a year ago and bought myself an LCD TV and intend to use it to its fullest lol. It really is just a matter of what your intent is for the use of the system and the 360 doesn't even come close to meeting my needs. And honestly, you are very lucky your 360 has lasted that long. I know of a few people that had theirs break in a matter of weeks after buying it and they weren't overusing it either. It's just a sloppy system in terms of quality of construction. It's fun, yes, and if the game choice is superior in your eyes, which I have no doubt it is, then I'm all for someone buying it. But personally, I feel that the PS3 suits what I want out of a video game console a lot more than the 360. In terms of games so far anything I've wanted to buy has either been exclusive to PS3 or has been dual system, so it has been a win-win for me. Oh, and Uncharted 2 is reason enough for someone to get a PS3 if they don't already have one -
Trying to decide which PS3 to get
jmicha replied to Sir Clinksalot's topic in Random, Random, Random
^Lol, that's if you don't like having a system that allows you to interchange the hard drive with any 2.5" SATA hard drive, doesn't allow free internet access, web browsing, easy use of media from other sources, such as music and movies, and plays blu-ray movies. If none of this matters to you, then yes, buy a 360 and have fun with having to replace it countless times. I don't know a single person that owns a 360 that hasn't had to send it in the be fixed. Of all the people I know with PS3s, not a single one of them has had a problem. I myself have had to replace my 360 twice so far in about 2.5 years. My friend Chris is on his fourth in the same amount of time. My friend James was on his second when it broke and hasn't bothered sending it in since he has given up on the system for the time being. The 360 is just a mess of a system and frankly, I like the PS3 game selection better. Obviously that's just personal opinion, but still, I see no benefit to owning a 360 over a PS3 when the PS3 gives you so much more for basically the same price. -

^^Yeah it's really convenient to just have it hooked up to your TV and your stereo via said TV. I use it when I have people over and the visualizer is a nice touch too. It really is the easiest way to get everything out of an entertainment system. -
Trying to decide which PS3 to get
jmicha replied to Sir Clinksalot's topic in Random, Random, Random
^Nice! I'm jealous, I bought an 80GB backwards compatible PS3 last summer for it's price then ($400 I think...) and it came with MGS4. The hard drive wasn't of worry because I knew I would replace it eventually, which I did this last January for my birthday. I got a 500GB hard drive since I like using my PS3 as more of an overall entertainment system rather than just for games. I currently have about 300 movies and 10GB of music on it which is awesome for parties. All of it uses one system opposed to fumbling around with different things. That's why I love the PS3 so much more than the 360. But enough of my rambling, enjoy your PS3 Slim. They're awesome to own. -
Anyone else prefer Vekoma SLC's?
jmicha replied to jmccalip's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Unfortunately I have never had the pleasure of riding a BTR (my coaster count is quite low. Sad face) but I am in a very small minority in that I have no problem with the SLC. Granted I've only ever ridden one and from what I've heard it is/was one of the better ones. It's the former Serial Thriller/Thunderhawk at Geauga Lake. I really liked it and never once had a problem with it's 'roughness.' Sure it wasn't glass smooth like B&M inverts but it was far from painful to me. Granted I've never once had a problem with any ride being too rough for me to reride. I'd ride The Villain in its last season over and over in the back seat without problem I really like the layout of the SLC. It has quite a few interesting elements that are rare on any rides anywhere, let alone on inverts (well, other than the SLC since there are ungodly amounts of them lol). I would love to see if Vekoma would ever redesign the ride in its new style with its new trains and tracks and market that in the future instead of the old model, yet keep the same layout. I think the layout has some great potential that it doesn't live up to, but it is still a fun ride. -
The only time I've ever had a problem with them was one time on Mantis. I'm in between clicks for the height adjustment for the seats and I accidentally moved in such a way leaving the station that it went up to the next nearest click instead of down which is much preferred. That ride was quite uncomfortable to say the least lol. I know if you sit forward in the seat a little bit on the Intamin impulses the sudden transition into the spikes can get you, but you really shouldn't be sitting with your butt forward, so that's not really a true problem lol.

So, I'm getting a new car today. Well, it's my dad's 2006 Hyundai Sonata SE, which he is replacing with a 2009 Hyundai Sonata Limited. This wasn't a planned situation, but unfortunately last week, my car was sent to car heaven. I moved it out into the street outside my house so my brother could play basketball, which has never been a problem. Well, a 16 year old girl driving a 2005 Accord decided that even though it was nighttime and raining in a 25mph zone, it wasn't necessary for her to turn her headlights on, avoid texting, or stay under 50mph. Well she crashed into my car which was thrown about 40 feet down the road and through our mailbox. It and her car were totaled and now we have to replace it since I'm going to Texas for a coop for school. So sad As you can probably imagine, this isn't what a '94 Accord is supposed to look like.

Kanye West is probably the most hated person right now
jmicha replied to edh's topic in Random, Random, Random
^Yeah, I get MTV Hits and also MTV U when I'm at school, both of which are set up similarly to MTV of the past. They actually are nice to put on in the background when you are doing homework, on your computer, etc. as they do actually show music videos and introduce new music. -
^It's funny, I feel quite the opposite about the 458. I think the taillights are awful whereas I love the front. It's the first Ferrari since the 355 that I actually find even remotely attractive. I'm excited for this car.

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
jmicha replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'd say the reason for the cost is the fact that there's a lot of land excavation to happen. If you look, that corner of Millennium Island is now water, along with a large portion of the mainland part of the ride. Moving earth isn't cheap. And there does appear to be a lot more to this ride than PP even if the ride is shorter in height. Honestly, the structure of PP isn't all that complex and probably didn't cost as much as some of you are thinking. It doesn't surprise me that this ride is costing 10.5 million. And there are more boats along with a lot of extra track. But really, we don't know what this 10.5 million is covering just as we don't know what PP's 4.3 million was covering. One could be talking about just the ride, the other could be talking about the cost of the ride, advertising, changes in signs, changes to the midway, the cost of the line, etc. There's really no one here that's actually qualified to really know why there is such a large difference in cost between this and PP. -

^That's 100 potential people that could be riding at once. I don't think that's going to be a problem. Log rides with half the capacity never seem to really have problems. I don't think capacity is going to be a problem on this ride. -
Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
jmicha replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^and^^ thanks, I knew I was forgetting something. Makes the argument even stronger that Ohioans are just used to Cedar Point getting something major basically every year or two. I know I already stated this, but after thinking about it some more, I really hope that it isn't a roller coaster and is a nice water attraction. A good family ride in that section of the park to take advantage of the nature in that area would be fantastic, even if it doesn't live up to everyone's wishes. Cedar Point is hardly lacking in large scale thrill rides and could use some more large scale family attractions. A mid thrill flume style ride with a relaxing section as well as a nice drop would be great for next year. I'm excited for the announcement to see who was correct in their guesses and what exactly what they are building. -
Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
jmicha replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^That's definitely the truth. I know my friends will ask what Cedar Point is getting for the next season and if I say nothing major, they get upset and question why. Starting with Magnum up until Maverick, it was pretty standard to see a major investment every two years or so. Magnum, Mean Streak, Raptor, Mantis, Power Tower, Millennium Force, Wicked Twister, Top Thrill Dragster, maXair, Skyhawk, then Maverick. I think the only three year span in there is between Mean Streak and Raptor, which may have been filled by something, someone please correct me if I'm wrong. It wouldn't surprise me though if we don't see another large scale roller coaster until 2011 or 2012 at all. There was a four year span between TTD and Maverick and both were similar investments, so waiting until the economy gets back into a better state until investing as heavily wouldn't surprise me one bit. I'm actually hoping it's a nice water ride that fills the gap left behind by White Water Landing. I think that would be perfect for the park right now. -

^Maybe it's a clue as to the theme of the ride, such as coal mining/rum running/etc. I have a feeling that the ride will be entered from Frontiertown/trail and will feature water in some prominent way.
