^^^I respect your opinion, but there's no reason MCBR=trimmed. A ride with one MCBR could be trimmed significantly more than one with ten MCBRs. It all just depends on the amount the brakes touch the train (if any at all). It's fully possible the ride won't lose a single mph throughout the course due to the MCBRs. And even if they do trim it, it's still possible the pacing will be fine. One example I can use of this is on Raptor at Cedar Point. The MCBR does slow it slightly, but the turn after the MCBR and the final two corkscrews, helix, and turn into the station are all just as intense as the rest of the ride. It all just depends on how it's designed, and none of us will really know this until we ride it.

^^Yeah TTD has stalled three times with people. The most recent was a couple weeks ago actually. I was in line for Millennium Force and watched it happen. I have a short, poorly shot, low quality video of it sitting at the top. It was interesting watching the three (I think) mechanics going up to the top to push it over. Later on I heard some employees saying they told everyone to move around to try to shift the weight, but apparently that wasn't enough to get it rolling again, so they pushed it over. It was actually good timing too since right after I got off Millennium Force, I went over to it just as it was reopening and got on in only a few minutes.

^Congrats. That's exactly six times as long as my longest relationship...I'm quite poor at it lol.
-
^Well they are all capable, some just more likely than others. I'm actually surprised that more haven't done this. Maybe they have it's just not as obvious or widespread as say TTD doing it since it's visible to, oh, everyone in the park.

^I think that's a bit dramatic. Plenty of rides rust like that before getting a new paint job and they're fine. Rust isn't something that necessarily equals serious problems, if any problems at all. The rust is clearly surface rust that will easily be taken care of when they refinish the ride which will most likely happen before HP opens.

^^^Although not five years old yet obviously, Expedition Everest has proven to be a much smoother ride than previous Vekomas. I really think that the redesigning of their trains and track will make a serious difference in the way their rides perform from now on. -
Millennium Force Cable

^But it's basically just an elevator lift system at a 45 degree angle. The only substantial difference is the catch-car system. So the height shouldn't matter at all since there are elevators several times longer than Millennium's lift hill. I have a feeling that the problems with the catch car are related to this incident. But that's completely based on my understanding of elevators, not cable lift hills, even though they are similar lol. -
^^Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but during loading isn't it similar to say, Peter Pan in which you step onto a moving walkway early on and you move at the same speed as the train. This removes that hesitation that's seen on some rides that you have to step into a constantly moving train while standing still.

^^That's what I do. I don't remember the last time I spent money on a drink at a park. I think the only time I bought a drink all last year was in line for Mantis. It was a 2 hour wait (insanely busy day) and it was something like 95 degrees out. I brought one of those free water cups in line with me, but after about an hour I wasn't feeling so hot...well...actually I was feeling too hot. That was quite the miserable day. But seriously, unless you have some reason you NEED to bring extra things into the park, I don't understand what you could possibly need beyond what fits in your wallet and your phone and car keys if you drove. Traveling light at parks is so much more relaxing than carrying junk around. -
Seriously, if you really want to stay in touch, get their numbers. It's not hard to stay in touch with your good friends beyond high school. My best friend and I only get to see each other a handful of times a year unfortunately, but I talk to him every couple of days, sometimes more, on the phone or through facebook. And I'm going through a similar situation in college right now. Half of my friend from architecture/interior design are on the opposite co-op schedule, meaning I won't have classes with them until graduate school two and a half years out. My best friend in Cincy is on opposite co-op schedule, yet I talk to her every day. Heck, we even watch Family Guy on Adult Swim at the same time every night and talk through iChat. It does stink not being able to see some of your friends anymore, but honestly, if you're not willing to find any way of keeping in touch with them, that's no one's fault but your own in this day and age. Staying in touch these days is as easy as dialing a number, sending an email, facebook messaging, or writing a good ol' fashioned letter through the mail.

^I'd probably say it's even a safe thing to guess that the trains will be capable of knowing if all restraints are down and locked so that it can stop the train itself in the event of running out of station before everyone is in properly. And if a person in a wheelchair wants to ride, I'd take a guess in saying that they will probably just stop a train towards the end of the station so that they can load easier and then once they are in, continue with their day. No need to worry whether they will have enough time or not to load.

Seriously, do as everyone is saying. I keep in touch with friends via facebook that I would never have if I didn't make an account. This is why I really fail to see the argument that social networking sites are actually hurting the population like some "experts" are saying. I keep in touch with several times more people from high school now than before I made a facebook account and added them. Technology is your friend.

^Lol, well with teeth that nice, he must get that a lot, so I doubt we're creeping much.
-
^Lol, I thought the exact same thing. I have nice teeth, but dang. How do you get your teeth to be so white? You must have some sort of secret lol.

The way I feel about lockers at parks is that you know very well going in that you will not be able to bring your belongings on the ride. And if you don't, you didn't do your homework. If you have more things than can fit in your pockets, you really can't complain that the park won't let you lug all that stuff into the station or on the ride. This removes a lot of hassle, confusion, and clutter in the stations which results in a more refined, safer station. I don't think paying $1 to put all of your excess things in a locker is that big of a deal. If you don't want to, just don't bring that much stuff. I would love to have my camera with me at parks, but since I don't want to have to deal with renting lockers, I just don't bring it. I only bring what can fit in my pockets, meaning just my wallet, phone, and car keys. Sure, it would be nice if these were free for a small time period, such as at Universal Studios, but I don't think it should be something park guests complain about. It's a convenience charge for if you want to have the luxury of carrying all of your things with you in the park instead of leaving them in your car and having to go out to the parking lot if you want them. -
Millennium Force Cable
jmicha replied to CPmaverick's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Hopefully it is just a cable problem. This shouldn't take them long to replace. If it is a problem with the catch car, that would probably be a different story. -

^Not necessarily. Think about the force at which some coasters stop. This motion is no different in terms of forces on the neck and head than launching backwards. Although it wouldn't be as intense as some forward launches, it wouldn't have to be dull by any means. -
Is Walt Disney World past due for park #5?

Personally, I feel that with the exception of MK, all three parks need more to do. I did MGM Studios and Epcot in the same day and really didn't feel like I missed out on anything at either park. Animal Kingdom was also seriously lacking in rides. If it weren't for Expedition Everest, I'm not sure I would have really enjoyed much about the park. The atmosphere was fantastic, but the selection of attractions at these three parks was lacking at best. And I also feel the Magic Kingdom needs some serious updating. It shows its age. Some of the rides are looking tired, and some areas of the park (Tomorrowland) need major updating. I don't think that adding a fifth gate would ever be a smart investment. If a family is unable to do everything the resort offers in a week, all adding another gate is going to do is cause profit to be split between five parks instead of four. I know of several people that have had trouble fitting all four parks into their 5-day or week long vacation to Orlando. If you can barely fit four parks into a vacation, having five parks just means that you'll have to choose one park not to do. I don't think the increase of attractions would actually lead to an overall increase in attendance as much as the previous parks have done to the resort. -
^Oh good god, that was that long ago already?I was only in fifth grade when that came out...man time flies.

Wow, the speed at which this thing takes some of its elements, especially the direction change after the first air hill and the first inversion, is ridiculous. This will definitely be one intense coaster.
