Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread

Looks like a fun, solid ride that will be awesome to ride for the guests of Holiday World. I always thought of how heavy the wing rider trains are compare to regular coaster trains, and that no park was going to want to build a launched version due to the high cost of launching them, but it's great to see that it was economical possible even though the trains have to be short and the launch takes a little bit longer. It won't have any problems with the launch, the LSM technology is so widespread and develop nowadays that these systems are easy to build if you have a few knowledgeable people working for you. A few examples: 2007 Maurer Söhne first LSM launch, no problems 2007 Zierer first LSM launch, no problems 2008 Gerstlauer first LSM launch, no problems 2010 Mack first LSM launch, no problems I'm fairly confident that B&M have this one covered. -

There actually very nice rides, and there's not really a feeling of repetivness. The 4 rolls in a row is awesome with some glorious hang time, and the last one whips you around real quick. Give it a try! -

No, I said that that it's most likely the best case scenario. If you look at Cedar Fair's recent water park renovations they don't add a lot of slides. CP renovated Soak City in 2012 and they only added the mat racer, the rest was spent on repainting the other slides, and overall freshen up the place. When Kings Island renovated their park the only new attraction was another wave pool, the rest of the money was spent on renovating and building a new entrance. If they are renovating the water park for 2015 expect most of the budget to be for renovating what's already there, and not for new attractions. I could see the snake pit complex or a mat racer being added, or maybe the wave/bowl combo that Carowinds got. But as I said, they will probably not add a lot of slides. -

Remembering that this is still Cedar Fair, I'm not excepting to much in terms of new slides. I would guess the absolute best case scenario would be this: And this: They also look to have the Tornado model where adding a conveyor would be very easy. For the convenience of the guests, that should also be done IMO. -

So another knock-off ride is up, this one should be familiar to most people on here No sign of the Mack ride yet, but Mach did confirm it in an interview, so it should happen. Source -

Really wish the support's would have the same color as the wing rider in Heide Park, that would have looked so good! -
I don't think that the problems with Hershey Park have changed Cedar Fair's view of Intamin. Hershey was asking Intamin to give it all and build them the most insane white knuckle thrill ride they could think of, and the result is Skyrush. If you are asking them for that then you will probably get a few hiccups. I think the problem with Cedar Fair is that they are to much influenced by Intamin in their designs rather than their own maintenance guys. Cheetah Hunt is the perfect example that if the park knows what it want's and make Intamin step of the gas pedal a little bit they can have a ride that is excellent and very reliable. As for what may come to the parkin 2015 I would guess something like this:

Yeah, everybody is always talking a lot about how many rip-off coasters there is in China, but I actually think the water slide business is even worse. The water park called 奥帕拉拉冒险岛水公园 is probably the worst of the big ones. Example: This is the Whitewater West Anaconda concept, presented in 2010. Whitewater didn't actually get to build on until 2013, but the ride below opened up in China just a year after the concept was revealed. Same park have this tower, which looks a lot like the Whitewater West tower at Chimelong water park below The knock-off Tornado's have been getting so good now that you can't almost tell the difference, unless you know what to look for This is China's first blaster slide, built in Chimelong water park in 2007, the model below is now standard in China, and there are at least 12 of them that I know of Let's not forget the knock-off Behemoth Bowl And also Whitewater built a family boomerang with a complete vertical wall at Chimelong, of course this park have one as well The play structures however is still a hard nut to crack for them, they are not even close to the western company's standard. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a lot more Chinese slides starting to pop up here in Europe in the southern tourist country's. I hope I didn't bore you too much with this post

No, Polin is not a knock-off company. Polin, like all the other western slide companies, develops their own version of all the rides they build. It's just how the industry works, if someone is developing a new slide, then all the other manufacturers are going to build their own version of it. In China and India slide manufacturers straight out copy the western water slide designs, that is the big difference. Example: Original Proslide Topsy Turvy Whitewater West Rattler Polin Space Shuttle Chinese knock-off

The problems with he pink slide is probably similar to what Aquatica experienced with Omaka Rocka, the riders would come into the funnel with to much speed, then going to high on the walls of the tornados. It's most likely the same thing here. The solution at Aquatica was to simply install small water breaks before the tornados, and that will probably be the case here as well.

Here's an off-ride video of the racer. Seems like most people under regular adult weight don't make it over the top. The solution is simply to use the emergency exit, that all uphill slides have, as a regular second exit. Shame they couldn't get it the way it was intended to be, but this still looks awesome. Now small kids can wait eagerly until the day they are big enough to make it over the hill! The video if the drop slide is also pretty cool!
