  1. Agree 100%. I don't ever play the ones with the 100 holes either... I like the old style ones where you aren't rewarded for making terrible shots up in the corners.
  2. You may have just answered your own question. They're probably not going to lose any attendance over a flume ride and as you said, log Jammer probably costs more to operate than Jet Stream. This is Six Flags we're talking about here... that's all they need to hear.
  3. Geauga Lake closed at the end of the 2007 season and Dominator Opened at KD in May of 2008.
  4. Stealth and BBW come to mind for me.
  5. You learn something new every day... And see that haters, this will NEVER be a problem on Leviathan.
  6. They've built 4 roller coasters so far and even they admit that they're "bad". Link
  7. The Boomerang has landed... Dorney Park Facebook
  8. It's not often that parks tear down wood coasters... I'd imagine that's because of the costs involved in doing so (correct me if I'm wrong). When you tear down a steel coaster it's much easier to move and the steel also has some value if you're not planning to relocate the ride. Unless the costs of removing Hurler is astronomical... why remove it? They have plenty of room to expand elsewhere.
  9. I think the Impulse ship may have sailed. The last NEW Impulse coaster was built in 2003 and for the most part they don't seem to be all that popular. They usually have much shorter lines than the other coasters in whatever park they're in and I wouldn't say it's because of their great capacity.
  10. I'm not an engineer but it would stand to reason that that makes the structure a lot stronger and is probably why those two coasters appear under supported. If you just had a regular support at the bottom of the lift then wouldn't there be a lot of stress pushing it towards the station if a lot of additional supports weren't added? Someone who actually knows what the hell they're talking about let me know if I'm on the right track here or if I'm just talking out of my ass? lol
  11. "The aircraft reportedly failed to gain enough altitude after taking off from a nearby airport. " -BBC News Since an investigation is still pending, that's not really a fair statement. It may have been a mechanical problem or another freak incident.
  12. I like Disaster Transport... I just wish they could do something about that eyesore of a building that it's in. It needs a MAJOR face-lift. Without looking at a map, how would people even know it was a ride? It looks like a Distribution Center for Wal Mart.
  13. Steel: Kinda Ka Wood: Son of beast (bleh)
  14. That's an understatement... that is easily the most awful coaster I've ever ridden. They should have moved it to Guantanamo Bay.
  15. I haven't seen that on any other forums before. I like it!
  16. Favorite Wood Favorite Steel (Haters they gonna hate...)
  17. The theming on that shuttle loop is incredible.
  18. Possibly but it's a matter of opinion. The first time I rode Raptor I sat near the back. I found it rough and probably the biggest disappointment at Cedar Point. A few years later I went back and decided to give it another change (I LOVE Inverts and couldn't believe it was so bad). After riding it in the front it actually became my favorite invert. I even like it better than Alpengeist (I probably wouldn't have if it weren't for Alpie's brakes) because I enjoy the fast paced nature of the second half of the ride and the awesome view of the water from the first drop. It wasn't bumpy at all except for that last turn and even that wasn't bad. Since then I went to Carowinds and rode Afterburn which gives Raptor a run for it's money but Raptor is probably still my second favorite invert.
  19. Probably Space mountain for me but I'm in awe of some of these pictures of European stations you guys posted.
  20. I'd imagine that with some smart marketing here this can be very lucrative. If they cross promote with the 49ers they can make a killing. Every team seems to be building an Entertainment district near their stadiums now (or someone else is doing it if they don't do it themselves)... the most famous of which probably being LA live and Patriot's place but it's also happened in places like Charlotte NC and is happening in NY/NJ with the Xanadu project and in Phillie. Nobody likes to sit in sports traffic, so people love to hang out and spend more money for a few hours instead. If they have an entertainment complex that's anchored by a major theme park and they offer promotions with the 49ers this can be a huge hit.
  21. LOL, all hail the great Magnum XL 200. Here is a list of some of the coasters that were ranked behind Magnum XL 200. -Intimidator 305 -Ride Of Steel -Superman Ride of Steel (Six Flags America) -Goliath -Titan I'm going to go ahead and assume that this is all one big joke. Am I the only one that thinks Magnum is really rough and flat out not that great? And even if you do like Magnum... #10??? Really????
  22. Are we seriously talking about this? I'm sure the engineers at B&M knows what they're doing. lol
