  1. I really can't wait to see this expansion. It's going to breathe a lot of life into that area of the park. Right now it's stuck in the 70's.
  2. Knowing Great Adventure, it's very likely that they won't replace it with anything (other than the walkway to the drop tower and animal exhibits). They didn't replace Old Country with anything, they just kind of closed it off. If anything I think the park will end up with a Wingrider, only because it's one of the only coaster types they don't have... there have been some Screamscape rumors about it over the last few years too which add a tiny bit of merit to that way of thinking.
  3. Don't worry, I absolutely plan to release this park when it's finished... though the park is probably only about 30% complete at this point so it may be awhile. I think I may send this to NE competitively which I've never done before. I'm not on the same level as some of those guys but it would be a good learning experience. Thanks for the feedback by the way, it's always appreciated!
  4. We rode Skyrush for the first time this year and I have to admit I really didn't enjoy it at all. The restraints on this ride are terrible, and they completely take away from the whole experience of the ride. I went into the ride with an open mind because I heard people complaining about Gatekeeper's restraints and Maverick's restraints earlier in the year before we went to Cedar Point and in both cases the rides turned out great and I just wrote it off as enthusiast's whining. I made no mention of it at all to my girlfriend so she wouldn't have any pre-conceived notions about the ride. Skyrush has a great layout with a ton of airtime but after awhile I was dreading every airtime hill because they're really uncomfortable. This ride doesn't need trims, but I wish it had new restraints. If they were a little more comfortable this would easily be a top 10 coaster for me. The park clearly knows it's a problem since the restraints pop up in the brake run which I've never seen on any other coaster... I wish they would (or could) do more to fix these restraints.
  5. When I was a kid I liked stand up coasters, but now that I'm 6'4 I pretty much hate all of them. Of the four I've ridden, Green Lantern and Mantis are complete hell, Shockwave at KD is bad but not awful... I feel the same way about Riddler and my favorite is probably Vortex at Carowinds only because it's over quickly. I really wish I enjoyed stand-up coasters but I really don't.
  6. I love this topic! It's nice to see something different. Cedar Fair: Millennium Force Six Flags: El Toro Disney: Big Thunder Mountain (MK)... sorry I love the theming on this ride.
  7. I'm not going to lie... I'm a bit of a parrothead. I can't wait to check this place out.
  8. Definitely Six Flags Great Adventure Six Flags New England Six Flags America (ugh... they're getting a new coaster so I have to go back) Dorney Cedar Point Kings Dominion Knoebels Funland (Rehoboth Beach De) Lake Compounce Hersheypark Most Likely Adventureland (Long Island... for some reason I've never been there) Bush Gardens Tampa Bush Gardens Williamsburg Islands of Adventure Darien Lake Coney Island Parks There are a lot of others that may come up, mainly some Jersey Shore parks. I've always wanted to do my own Jersey Shore Credit Whore Tour.
  9. I wish I could have ridden Drachen Fire, I'm sure it would have caused permanent brain damage but that layout is really unique and cool.
  10. I don't really blame people for saying that a mediocre coaster is their favorite when they haven't ridden many coasters and don't know any better. I remember a few years ago I was trying to get my girlfriend into coasters and when she rode Hydra at Dorney she thought it was the best coaster ever. She just loved that JoJo roll. Obviously once she rode more coasters she didn't think Hydra was all that great but I understand why people who haven't ridden many coasters think mediocre coasters are great and I can't fault them for that.
  11. Last year we rode Superman in the back and thought it was a really dull coaster. This year we waited the extra half hour (5 train wait...lol) and rode it in the front. It was much better, riding in the front makes the long straightaways a lot more fun because you can really appreciate the speed of the coaster. As far as Roar is concerned, I thought it was a terrible ride. I hurt in places I didn't even know could hurt after one ride on it. I agree completely. I used to think the Superman coasters had ejector air but El Toro re-wrote the rules of airtime for me. lol.
  12. I can't find anything anywhere... you can see the tower from Monmouth Rd. if you really wanted to take a look at it but I would think there wouldn't be anything visible yet.
  13. While I'm not a Great Escape fan simply because of their horrifically bad operations on every single ride besides Comet, I still think Six Flags America is a worse park. Great Escape is actually very nice and has a lot of unique features. Six Flags America has the same terrible operations AND is the ugliest SIx Flags park I've ever seen.
  14. Probably, but they'd also have to pay more ride-ops which I'm sure is a big factor in the current loading procedure. Also (and I'm just speculating because I know nothing at all about this stuff) I wonder if only using one station gives the ride less of an opportunity to break down. It stands to reason that the less moving parts, station blocks and sensors that are involved, the less likely the ride is to break down. Is this a legitimate possibility?
  15. I absolutely loved reading that. I have to admit that when we went to Vegas about 10 years ago I passed up a ride on this (which I never do) because of the horror stories I've heard about it. Maybe if I ever go back I'll give it a try.
  16. Using all 4 load/unload gates on Kingda Ka wasn't very effective either. The ride gets about the same, if not better capacity today than it did three years ago, which was when they made the switch to only one section being used at a time. Yeah, no matter how crowded the park is they only ever use the front right entry area and I don't think they bother running more than 3 trains ever. I'm sure they decided that the cost of paying employees to run 4 loading areas wasn't worth the extra capacity it added... and honestly they may be right. They can only launch trains so often anyway and using 4 loading platforms made the wait times once you got to the station unbearably long... especially for the front row which is the only place I ride that coaster.
  17. Twister is a very underrated coaster. The coaster is completely out of control and it throws you all over the train but at the same time I wouldn't consider the ride rough at all. It's right at the limit of how out-of-control a ride can get before it starts getting uncomfortable but that results in a re-rideable, yet completely insane coaster. The coaster will always be overshadowed by Phoenix, but I love Twister, and at night that coaster is absolutely crazy. It's everything a twister style wood coaster should be.
  18. If you lean forward in your seat in Mean Streak it's usually tolerable. The layout is still really boring but at least it's only mildly painful when you do that.
  19. I honestly don't have a problem with this, not because it makes any sense but because it's better than the alternatives. I know everyone is going to jump on my and say that the "alternative" is to leave rides that are nothing like the ride that actually had the incident alone and while you're right... we all know the parks won't do that. They need to appear proactive because this is probably the worst incident to happen in a major US theme park in years (barely, Cedar Point got very lucky). It was completely the fault of the ride... I don't think there's a case for operator error (the seat had sensors and it showed clear), there's no case for rider error... obviously I'm not involved in the lawsuits but from a public opinion standpoint, it's hard to deny that this is the fault of the ride. Because of all this, I'm not surprised that the park is being overly cautious. With alternatives like overly restrictive restraints (Bizarro at SFNE), drastically different size restrictions or more trims, at least they went with the option that doesn't have any effect on ride experience. It's too bad about the increased dispatch times but this could be a lot worse.
  20. Thanks for the feedback. The Abassi coaster is probably my favorite at Sunset Valley which is why I wanted to try my hand at building a larger wingrider to be one of the star attractions at a different park. I went through about 5 designs before I found one that I'm happy with but I'm very happy with the way this one turned out.
  21. I usually just bring my wallet and keys. I almost never bring my iphone in unless I'm meeting someone at the park and need to text / call them. Usually it's just me and my girlfriend and it's nice to get away from our iphones for a day and just enjoy the park and each-other's company. By the way, has anyone else noticed how people with iphones have to refer to it as their "iphone" and not just their "phone" like everyone else? I always thought this was annoying but now that I finally joined the 21st century and got an iphone I do it too. I hate myelf
  22. Big Bad Wolf... when I went to BGW back in 2001 this was my favorite coaster in the park. I've always been a big fan of suspended coasters and this one was my favorite by far. If I could go and ride any "old, gone ride" it would be the Crystal Beach Cyclone (I know it would suck but who doesn't wish they could have ridden that thing once?) but it seems like the spirit of the thread is to name something I actually got a chance to ride when it was operating which is why I went with Big Bad Wolf.
  23. I don't follow this argument at all. The tallest coaster is the tallest coaster, it's pretty black and white and there's no way of "cheating" to break the record. Just to play devils advocate, If I had to come up with a design that took the height record by "cheating" I'd design a coaster that launched up a hill, came right back down and hit the brakes... claiming the height record with just one hill. Oh... right. By the way I do have to admit that I'm not as excited about this as I should be since the coaster doesn't actually feature a 500 foot drop. I still find the "tallest drop" record more impressive. That's not to say this won't be awesome (the concept looks really cool), but there should be a separate category for "tallest coaster" and "tallest coaster drop". In the past they almost always went hand-in-hand but it looks like they won't anymore.
  24. I love Wooden Warrior but I give the slight nod to the Thunderbolt at Six Flags New England. I've ridden it at least 50 times over the last decade plus and it always delivers a fun, smooth ride in every seat. It's a great little coaster.
  25. Big changes are happening at Sunset Vista! I know updates are infrequent but I'm really enjoying working on this park and hopefully this one ends up being my best yet. As always, comments are greatly appreciated. The Park has a band new headline attraction. Gunslinger is a brand new B&M wingrider and the anchor of our newest themed land, Gunslinger Gulch. Also pictured are Gold Rusher (an arrow mine train), Texas Twister (an Enterprise) and Rodeo (the same as Transylvania Twist at Sunset Valley). The area is highly themed, as is Gunslinger's queue which weaves through small western themed buildings and gives the area a more intimate feel. Americana Alley (the area by Wildcat) is seeing big changes as well. The Vulture has been renamed "Dive Bomber" and it's entrance has been re-routed. A Tilt-A-Whirl has taken the place of the old entrance and a new ice cream shop and games building have popped up.
