  1. I agree, but I hate them both. I have to be fair though, even though I hated Apocalypse I was expecting worse after reading about it on coaster forums for so long. If I were a little shorter (I'm pretty tall which I think is why I hate standup coasters because they never used to bother me) I'd probably enjoy it.
  2. I have no idea what she's trying to say. I'm assuming she's talking about Gatekeeper but that's all I've got.
  3. I've heard people say Dorney has lines sometimes but I've also heard people say they've seen Bigfoot. I've gone to Dorney in the summer on Saturday and on Saturdays in October (the 2 times when they should be busiest) a lot over the last decade or so and this park never has any lines at all. The water park does, but the park never does. The longest waits I've seen are 10 minutes for the Log Flume and Wild Mouse but the big coasters are always walk ons. I've always found Dorney's coaster collection incredibly disappointing with the exception of Talon. Hydra is forceless and a bit of a headbanger and Steel Force is the world's tallest and fastest mine train. The boomerang is nothing special obviously and I'm not a big impulse coaster fan but Posessed is starting to grow on me. Thunderhawk should be ridden in the 2nd row of the first car and while it's rough, you get some great airtime in that seat. One thing that's pretty cool about Dorney is they have a nice flat ride collection and a really cool terrain Log Flume. They also have Chickie and Pete's which shouldn't be missed. You have to try the Crab Fries. I know you only want to hit Cedar Fair parks but I strongly suggest you spend a few hours at this place and then go to Knoebels. Splurge a little on Knoebels... you'll thank me later. They have free parking and free admission and you only pay very reasonable prices for each ride. Again... I know you're trying to save money but if you get a few night rides on Phoenix you won't regret missing out on some extra mediocre walk on rides on Hydra and Steel Force. EDIT: The more I think about this the more I realize you should spend most of your Dorney Day at Knoebels. It will be SO MUCH BETTER. If you bring $30 to Knoebels you can have a great day. Just space out your rides, check out the free Carousel Museum, the free Knoebels Museum by Black Diamond and just walk around and check everything out / people watch. It's also a nice break from all of the Cedar Fair parks, because Dorney has nothing that seats it apart from any of the other parks you mentioned and it probably has worse coasters than all of them (except maybe World's of Fun and Michigans Adventure).
  4. I would think Stealth and Zaturn work because they're in areas where they're the tallest and fastest coasters around, and they're assuming that most of the people riding those rides will be impressed with their stats despite the fact that there are much taller and faster rocket coasters overseas because they've probably never heard of or ridden those coasters.
  5. Yes, I'm completely serious. The operations on every ride were mind-blowingly bad and bad enough that I won't be back until they build a new coaster... which at this rate won't be any time soon. The only coaster that was operated well was the Comet. The 3 hour wait for the Bobsled was the thing that just really killed me... it's the most inefficiently operated coaster I've ever seen, including when Quassy used to run one car on it's Wild Mouse. It's a shame because it's a really nice park, but we just hated the place because of the operations. I wish I would have taken a video because it really sounds like I must be exaggerating how bad it was, but I'm really not.
  6. I figured that SFMM couldn't possibly come up with a station so ugly that it would make Yolo Plaza look any worse but I guess I shouldn't have doubted them. Normally I'd be the person in here saying "are we really still talking about the station roof, who cares?", but that's just horrendously ugly.
  7. I did all 3 haunts at SFNE and thought they were all pretty bad. Especially Total Darkness since they have rope lights showing you where to go (and making it not "total darkness") and these allow you to see all of the actors since they didn't give them any places to hide since they figured it was dark enough that you wouldn't see them.
  8. I saw REO Speedwagon and Styx play a free concert at Great Adventure about 10 years ago... they were irrelevant then. And they were the warm up band. I actually like REO Speedwagon but nobody cares about them anymore and they need to get over themselves.
  9. It must be the offseason. Everyone has at least one weird thing that bothers them that nobody else understands. Maybe this is yours. lol
  10. Don't forget the one at SFNE which was never a Big Spin. It was always "Pandemonium" though it opened as "Mr. Six's Pandemonium" and had a cutout of Mr. Six on it.
  11. I highly doubt it. I want to believe it but I highly doubt it since B&M seems to be moving away from forceful coasters. I guess we'll find out soon enough though.
  12. I always check the weather before going to parks so I rarely have issues but earlier this year we went to Great Adventure even though the weather was questionable. It was actually pretty nice for most of the day but right around 3 pm it started pouring while we were on line for Rolling Thunder. We decided to ride the coaster anyway and when we got off we saw that El Toro was a station wait. We figured the ride was closed because it really couldn't have been raining any harder but they let us into the queue and we got 3 rides on it with a 1-2 train wait each time in the back car. It hurt, but those were some of the most insane rides we've ever had on El Toro. It was absolutely pouring for the next 4 hours but they never closed anything except for Kingda Ka. We got a few rain rides in on Nitro too which was also a station wait and the Log Flume because at that point... why not. Around 7:00 the lighting came and the park finally closed all of the coasters (though for some reason most of the flats were all still open), we ended up marathoning Skull Mountain until the storm passed. For some reason there was no line for it even though it was one of only 2 coasters open.
  13. I really only ride either coaster in the front. For some reason I'm always underwhelmed by them in other seats but in the front they're outstanding rides.
  14. That was just fan art. The first time I saw it was on Absolutely Reliable News and Rumors. Did they come up with it or did they just share someone else's photo on their website? Either way I laughed when I saw that that picture was still floating around.
  15. I don't really think it's the forces that make a coaster uncomfortable. Generally coasters that are uncomfortable are uncomfortable because of track / train design, poor maintenance, design flaws or some other things that I'm forgetting but not excessive forces. If a coaster had excessive G forces it would be modified before it was allowed to open or not allowed to open at all. Am I just misunderstanding the question?
  16. Wow... I got a headache just from reading that.Thank god I've never ridden that coaster.
  17. I love El Toro's station... it keeps the lines for the best rows short. People REFUSE to pass the garbage can, I'll never understand why but once you pass the garbage can every row is a 1-2 train wait.
  18. If you drive from Knoebels to Kennywood you'll be on I-99 and you'll drive right through Altoona PA. The oldest coaster in the world will be about 5 minutes out of the way, how can you not stop there? Seriously... make sure you ride Leap the Dips (Skyliner is good too so ride it when you're there). If you're into credits you can stop at Del Grossos too which is a few miles away and again only about 5 minutes off the exit. If you're not skip it, but don't skip Leap the Dips at Lakemont. It will only take about 30 minutes out of your drive and it's an experience you'll never forget.
  19. I wanted to post in this thread on Friday but couldn't think of any coasters with great pre-lifts, but then over the weekend we went to Dollywood for the first time so the answer became clear... Mystery Mine.
  20. I really hate those Volare coasters.
  21. I have some suggestions for the lift coverings on Coyote Creek Mine Ride and Pacific Flyer. First of all, I'd make the supports for the covering on Coyote Creek Mine Ride exactly like Pacific Flyer except obviously brown. I know the poles aren't very detailed but it looks awkward having posts designed for flat roofs supporting angled roofs. For Pacific Flyer, I like it but it doesn't match the color of the coaster. I'd either make the coaster brown or maybe try some track-itchture for the covering. Also, isn't the Fun House custom? I thought it was NCSO. Just some suggestions. I love the park!
  22. I'd love to ride Skyrush with the Millennium Force trains and I'd love to ride Revolution with lap bars. I'll go with those two.
